A poem I wrote after my family's dog of 15 years died.
Why do people sigh as they pass you by?
You only just wonder why.
Why do they cry? Why do they weep?
Curiosity is enough to get you off of your feet.
Struggling down that once easy step,
You sink to the ground to eternally rest.
As the light goes dark
You make your last mark
Along life's ocean rich sand,
Till you come at last to the promised land.
To tired to sleep, to tired to rest,
You've cuddled away in the great binds of death.
