Hi Guys, so this is the first portion of a novel that I am writing and putting up. I am in the midst of writing this book, it is a memoir about my life in a way. So here is the forward.

a little info before the forward. I didn't want to start by diving right into my life, so I felt like I needed a forward of some sort, so this is what I did for my forward.

Please don't go easy, I want this to be perfect let me know what you have to say!!

“Enjoy the little things in life… for one day you’ll look back and
Realize they were the big things.”
Robert Brault

Forward:

Robert Frost once said, “Two roads diverged by a yellow wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all of the difference.” What Robert is trying to say is that you can look at the world as two separate roads that lead to the same destination, and you can take the road that everyone takes, the easy way, and learn nothing from it, or you can take the road that only a few people take, the more difficult way, and learn everything from it, and become a stronger person because of it.
Life is all about choices. Whichever type of choice you make whether they are little choices, big choices, pointless choices, or life changing choices, they make you who you are. All of the big choices start with a little choice that you build on, and soon enough it becomes a big choice that ultimately shows what kind of person you are.
I am 16 years old and my life has been a roller coaster full of ups and downs, and even some loop de loops. I live with my older sister Jaclyn who is twenty-two years old and my dad Aaron. I can tell you this right know, I am not perfect and I don’t want to be. My imperfections make me who I am, and I love just being me. My friends mean the world to me, because without them I have no idea what I would do, and whom I would turn to. My dog scamp is my life; I can’t imagine my life without him. I have always rated my priorities on a percent scale; twenty-five percent of my life is devoted to my sister, my dog and my dad. Twenty-five percent of my life is devoted to my family, fifteen percent is my school and my dream job, fifteen percent is my friends, ten percent is my chores and responsibilities, and five percent is myself. I know what you are saying why is herself only five percent of her priorities, and my answer is this. You know when adults say to their children that they support them no matter what they do, because if what they are doing makes them happy then they are happy. Well seeing my sister smile, or seeing my dogs tail wag, or when someone tells me I do too much, or that I am a lifesaver, even just seeing the joy or the stress run out of someone’s eyes because of something I did, makes me happy, and if this makes me happy then truly one hundred percent of my priorities are devoted to myself.
My friends see me as: crazy, talkative, loud, creative, bubbly, upbeat, optimistic, and sometimes annoying. Put that all aside and you will see me: friendly, a good friend, a listener, trustworthy, easy to talk to, open minded, a true friend, and level headed. My friends see me for me, yes I am all of those things, everything mentioned above, but I am not going to lie, I have my flaws, I can be: wild, annoying, forgetful, I can get angry easily, obnoxious, and sometimes a total bitch (but for good reasons) I am not perfect, and I will never be, but I'd rather imperfect and happy, then perfect and unhappy. So either take me and love me for who I am on the inside and out, or forget me all together, because I am who I am, and if you don't like that, then you can just leave, because I am not going to change who I am just for you.

My name is Nicole and this is my story.

That was the forward.... :)
oh and yes the beginning quote, is part of it, I am going to have a quote for each chapter. :)

Quotes?
Quotes are pretty overused.

Really, it was just a prologue. I can't really comment on your plot, of characters, yet, because there is nothing to comment on.
TO be honest, and no offense, you sound like a typical teenage girl. Your gonna have to work to make it exciting.

Lastly, you may want to space out your paragraphs. Its mainly a block of text right now, and it's hard to read.

Hello! I read your piece, and have a few comments, so let's get to them!

First, I love that you started with the Frost quote. Starting each chapter with a quote, I think is a wonderful idea. Its just one of those details that adds interest to your work, plus it can give direction to your chapters.

In terms of improvements, I would consider a few.

I would omit the few sentences where you describe the meaning of the quote. Though I think it is a good analysis, the nice thing about quotes is that they tend to speak for themselves, and they allow individuals, like your readers, to draw their own conclusions from them. I think your readers will get your idea without the explanation.

My other suggestion is one that I know you might not want to here, but I would consider if a prologue like this is really necessary for your story. All the things you have detailed in this piece, should come out in your actual narrative, making an introduction redundant . As an example, you describe some of your personality traits in this piece, however, these personalities traits (i.e optimism, or creativeness) should come out in your memoir without you having to tell us about them. The scenes within your memoir can show you being creative: maybe in your first attempt at writing, or in an art class, or working with a group to come up with creative solutions. The same goes for optimism: maybe you had a tough break in your life and you can still see on the bright side, maybe someone is really negative in your life and you are always correcting them. etc. And so and so on for all the personality traits, the details about your family, and your priorities. You can show us these things in different scenes/events from your life, and once you do, telling us about them is no longer necessary.

Lastly, I want to commend you on writing a memoir, memoirs are often so personal and close to one's heart. It takes a lot of courage to put your life on display for others to read, I know I could never do it. You have my respect. :) I really hope you continue this.

If you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me.
