The Glist

I recently remembered an episode of Glee that I watched, where the characters drew up a list of the most popular students in the school or something thereabout. While that was, to a degree, negative, I wonder if it could have been positive. And what would a YWS glist look like.

I have to say I'd be against the idea. Of course there would be the problem of feeling left out, but on top of that, imagine the maintenance it would take.

Here are a few possible categories:
Best Reviews of the (Insert Time Period)
Best Signatures of the (Insert Time Period)
Rocking Avatars of the (Insert Time Period)
Funnies Posts of the (Insert Time Period)
all in addition to the Leaderboards and featured works area.

The problem with the above is that they would encourage inconsistency, in my opinion. People, flocking to get on the Glist (YWliSt?), would abandon an avatar they like or a cool signature just to please a few. I don't think the people on YWS are that bad, but still there is the danger.

At the same time it might encourage site activity and the Best Reviews Glist might encourage quality reviews instead of quanity.

What do you guys think?

I think that could be cool

Maybe, when you post it or whatever, you could ask people not to change their things, that it would be more of a natural thing. But the best review would probably spark some competition, which wouldn't be bad- we could always use some more quality reviews, rather than quantity.

And Glee rocks.

Glad for the comments, guys. I was beginning to think no one cared about the idea (People should be more active in the community forums) Anyway, I'm not really qualified to be the judge. I only know a handful of YWSers. And Pers. I realize that the possible flaws of the idea all depend on the different categories possible.

How about these (I'll just use a week as the time slot):
Best Review of the Week
Friendly Greeter of the Week
Chatterbox of the Week
Coolest Avatars of the YEAR (We'll say like... TheNewHero's Chuckl avatar)
Funniest YWS quotes of the Week (TheNewHero: Remember, it's not a Disney movie. You can say you like someone without bursting into song!)
Featured Works

While this would, in my opinion, complicate YWS, we could do like Facebook and make comments likable, so that we can like people's reviews. Either that or when we see a good one we just put it up for submission into the list - that'd be much simpler and there's already a forum in place for good reviews. Perhaps this would just be an extension on that?

What other categories could there be?

And guys, it's a given that Glee rocks.

Seconded.

The coding of a whole new area like this, in my opinion, is too much for the site right now. YWS is progressing a lot, but at the moment, a Glist is quite unnecessary. There have already been improvements to the site like pages (clubs) and the Feed, not to mention the new toolbar. For now, I think the new updates are all we need. In the future, an idea like this could be interesting, but we'll see.

Plus, the time it would take to code a whole new area like the Glist would probably be overwhelming.
