Firstly, i just wanted to tell you all that the title is supposed to be spelt that way.
Also, i am hoping you wont get bored of my story or not read it because of the length.
Please pick on everything, i like criticism as long as i know what you think of it overall. :D
Love Georgie xxXXxx

Everything is different now. I can’t be who I used to be, my life is like empting your pockets to find there was nothing there in the first place. Things have changed and my mother said that I should try to fit in with the ‘normal’ kids. But how can I when I am not normal in the first place? I can do things that people only dream of, but sometimes I wish that occasionally I could fit in with others my age.

I was in my new room lying on the cold wooden floorboards. My large vintage bed had just been placed in the far corner of my room and on the other side was a dark wooden desk that had boxes stacked with my things. There was a small TV on top of a shelf filled with books about myths, romance, art, and other books that were made of leather and had gold bindings; these books were given to me by my mum, but I never got round to reading them. I got up and paced slowly into the small, white, tiled bathroom. I could see my messy reflection. Long, dark brown, untidy hair that reached about midway down my back, looking as it needed to be brushed after the long car trip to New York. I have an hourglass figure, which other girls only wished they could have, my eyes are a dark, cloudy blue with sparkly flecks through them, also looking like they needed some sleep. I reached down, splashed some cold tap-water onto my face, and slowly headed to the lounge room to help my Mum and Max finish unpack our things. Max was a nice man, the kind of person that if you dropped a pencil he would gladly pick it up and hand it back to you with a smile. He was tall, slim and had a small scar just above his eyebrow. I liked Max and I was glad my mother chose him as her second husband. The living room was full of bright white lights that only emphasised the lack of furniture. It was a long pale room with delicate lacy curtains hanging over the large white window frames. The floor was different to my room; it had light blue carpet and a dull coloured rug chucked into the middle of the room. I was sick and tired of unpacking, we had just got to big, bad New York City and I had been trapped in this old house. I wanted to be myself but in order to do that I needed room to breathe.
****

I stepped onto the porch, locked the door behind me and headed down the wooden steps. The house was small and the dark bricks only made it look smaller in the afternoon light, the roof was tiled black and the door was made of glass and wood. I started walking past large houses and small units not intending to go anywhere particular until I stopped a few blocks away in front of a bright, busy looking club; the name of it was odd, like something you would expect only in a movie, Raphael’s Angels. I decided I would go in and see what all the fuss was about. The bouncer was too tall as well as having long claw like fingernails and black hair that covered his eyes. He was not a nice looking man; he was the kind you might find in movies as a dark criminal or even a drug lord. However, the weird thing was that he did not scare me at all; he had a kind of welcoming presence about him that made me feel calm.

Inside the club, there were bright coloured lights of pink, gold and some green and blues. The sparkly dance floor was full of sweaty young people all dressed in skimpy outfits, bobbing their heads and shaking or swaying any other body part they could. Off the dance floor, there were young couples embracing and drinks being spilt everywhere. I decided I wouldn’t bother staying, it was getting late and my mother would be stressing. I started to head for the door to leave but I tripped head over heels at someone’s feet. I landed flat on my back, I closed my eyes with embarrassment; I knew someone would be looking at me, probably laughing. I was used to falling over; I was what people would call naturally clumsy. I open my eyes and tried to focus on the blonde figure leaning over me. He was wearing a thick, silver chain around his neck and from what I could see was ruggedly handsome. He offered me his hand to help me up and I took it, he easily pulled me onto my feet, obviously strong, I fixed my favourite black skirt. Without him noticing I slowly moved my hand to the pocket knife concealed in my jacket, I had always been a bit paranoid around strangers.

“Are you ok, beautiful?” said the ruggedly handsome, blonde stranger.
“I’m hardly beautiful, and yes I am fine thank-you” I said as I blushed, beautiful? Who goes around calling complete strangers beautiful? But other than that, it was very sweet. I moved my hand out of my jacket, quickly deciding this guy wouldn’t try anything smart with me.
“I’m Jai Payne, by the way. And who may you be?” he said quite formally, but the grin displayed on his face showed that he wasn’t really the formal type.
“Oh, I'm Savanna Ryder, and apparently naturally clumsy” I replied a lot less formally than he spoke. I let my paranoia slip away and decided to just focus on the moment. He was tall, very muscular and had a prominent jaw line. He was the kind of person that you would expect in a magazine, not in a club picking up strangers that fall over at his feet.
“Well Savanna, would you like a drink?” when he spoke his voice was stunning; it was perfectly clear and actually kind of sexy.
“Sure, why not. I’ll have whatever you’re having?” I was shocked, a guy like Jai interested in me? A clumsy brunette from a small town in the middle of nowhere.

“Come on then” he said letting the formal tone leave his voice, grabbing my arm and pulling me forward, his hands were gentle around my thin wrist. He let go as we reached the bar, he ordered two lemonades and directed me to a small booth in the far corner. The corner of the club was darker and not as loud, it had a duller colour scheme but the seats still matched the bright colours of the dance floor. Jai sat down on the far seat and nodded, as if to say, you can sit down I don’t bite. He placed the drinks on the table and took a sip out of his, he looked as if he were annoyed as he spoke, “Why is lemonade made with artificial flavour, when cleaning fluid is made with real lemons?” he said as a rhetorical question but I answered anyway.
“I dunno? So who are you? The mysterious Jai Payne?” I said using a voice a detective might use when interviewing a suspect.
“Well, I'm seventeen, stunningly handsome and I live with my sister, best friend and his parents when I'm not at the school, what about you Miss Ryder?” he said with attitude. I liked attitude, I thought as I stared at his features. Then I glanced away quickly and pretended to read something on the wall because he had noticed I was staring at him. “Least I won’t have to worry about you disagreeing that I am stunning” he said with a big grin on his face. I could feel the colour rise in my cheeks. Who was Jai? A perfect stranger looking for some innocent girl to flirt with? Okay, so I wasn’t totally innocent but I tried most of the time. I would find out. Being different had its advantages you could say. I didn’t usually use my ‘special talents’ as my mother called them, to find out juicy details about a mysterious stranger. But I would take my chances tonight; I focused my thoughts on him, Jai Payne; stunning, witty and strong. I started to look inside his mind to search for some kind of background about him but was cut off. This never happened to me, I could always see what I wanted to, but not with him, who was Jai?

“Did you know it’s awfully rude to snoop?” he said, smiling a large cheerful but shocked smile. How did he know? They never know what I’m doing. He can’t. But he did, how?
“How did you...” I stopped mid-sentence. I couldn’t just tell him that I was snooping, what if he was bad? And plus I can’t tell him my secrets anyway. I don’t even know him. I started to get up out of my seat, “I have to umm... go.” I said to him. I think I was actually scared, why was I scared? Was it because I can’t tell another person about myself after what happened last time? Or was it that he knew what I was doing? It must have been both.
“...don’t leave we were just starting to have fun. And plus it’s not every day I find someone special like me!” I could hear his voice but his lips weren’t moving. I got up out of my seat faster then I should have and hit my knee on the table, which was going to bruise. But I didn’t care right now; my knee would get over it.

I headed for the door; my heart was pounding and I was finding it hard to breath. I pushed my way through the sweaty crowd of dancers, past the over tall, clawed bouncer and around the corner into an alley. I leaned against the cold stone wall, panting, in a cold sweat and trying to slow down my accelerated heart beat. It was frosty outside and very dark, I clicked my fingers and a small, bright flame hovered above the end of my pointer finger. I looked around and to my surprise and unease I saw Jai on the other side of the alley, he was astounded and kept glancing from my face to my finger. It took me a few seconds for me to realise why he was looking at my finger and then it hit me. The flame, shit! I had forgotten about that. I buried it in my hand and extinguishing it without a second thought. It was pitch black after I extinguished my flame but the next thing I knew there was another light, now I could see everything nearly as clear as day. Jai held his hand cupped in front of him with a flame hovering in it. My head felt heavy as I suddenly realised he was like me, different to others, an outsider, someone special, someone like me.

“How can you do that? You shouldn’t be able to do that? No one can do that, no one but...” he cut me off with amusement carved into his face.
“No one but you? And why shouldn’t I do what I want. Did you honestly think you were the only one your age. Oh and why did you leave the club, it was much warmer in there.” He said quite amused. I was shocked, there were others like me. Why didn’t he find this hard to believe, I grew up thinking I was basically an outcast, and he probably grew up with others like him, others like me. “Calm down beautiful” he said smiling and looking at me delighted.
“Didn’t I already tell you I'm not beautiful?” I said “and did you know I had the same powers as you when you helped me up earlier?” I said that last part extremely fast, so that if he wasn’t like me, if he was human, he wouldn’t have been able to slow the words down enough to understand, a human would have just thought I was an idiot who decided to start humming randomly.

“No, I just thought you were a beautiful klutz until you tried to kidnap my thoughts, and then I had to follow you to make sure I wasn’t incorrect. It really does pain me when I'm wrong. But there’s no need to worry, I'm not in any pain, so you don’t have to kiss my injuries better just yet.” he winked, he was so sure of what he was saying that I almost didn’t realise that he called me beautiful again and that he wants me to kiss him better. But the best part of what he had said was that he wasn’t human either.

“You want me to kiss you?” I said without really thinking. I know I did that often, speaking before thinking but, why did I have to say that?! Couldn’t I have just told him he wasn’t incorrect and walked off? No apparently not, my brain decided it was better to ask about kissing him. God!
“So that caught your attention did it? Hmm... I knew you wanted to kiss me, I mean who wouldn’t.” he whispered in a tone that made me want to step a little closer to him, but I didn’t, I held my ground and blushed bright red, then hid under my long hair. “Are you embarrassed beautiful?” he said quite noticeably amused.
“My name is Savanna” I said, “just in case you forgot” looking up at him smiling, probably still bright red.
“I didn’t forget” he said smiling a smile that weakened my knees. He swept my fallen hair behind my ear, lingering ever so slightly on my neck before he retracted his hand and shoved it into his pocket.“So I thought you had to go?” he said, breaking the silence.
“Well the thing is, I still do, I left home late afternoon and now it’s really late and my mum and Max will be furious when I get home, and as for you, you’re walking me home.” I said without any doubt in my tone.
“Are you asking politely or demanding?” he queried pleasantly.
“Neither, I'm simply taking you hostage” I said with a kind of attitude that normally doesn’t come out of my mouth but in this case it did.
“Fair enough. But if you’re taking me hostage, I think I should have your number first.” He said smiling and then let the flame hover in mid air as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, to hand to me; it was a small black phone that I had never seen anywhere before. I keyed in my number and handed the phone back. “Can I take your photo for the caller ID?” He asked.
“Sure, I can’t see why not. But wait one second.” I pulled my hands through my tangled hair and then held my hands palm up behind my back. Blue and white sparks came from my hands and hovered in the air by my sides, I could do all sorts of the things by just thinking it, so this wasn’t hard at all and it wasn’t even tiring like it used to be. “Ok now you can take the photo” I thought to him, and he understood perfectly. The phones camera flashed and I took the sparks down with a twitch of a few fingers. I took a photo of him with my ordinary flip phone and he smiled. But as he did I felt like everything in the world was just slightly better.
****

We arrived at my house five minutes later and Jai looked up at the small bricked house and smiled trying to hold back a laugh by the looks of it.
“What’s so funny about my house?” I asked him as his smile turned into a laugh. He looked at me and I gazed back, his eyes were the colour of chocolate.
“Nothing, it’s just that I live three doors down, with Sage, Caleb and his parents. I smiled and he leaned in to kiss me but I stopped him by putting my hands on his chest and pushing him slowly backwards. I could feel his muscles tighten as I pushed him backwards and I saw his expression change to one of disappointment. I barely knew Jai and if he wanted to kiss me he would have to get to know me first. Its not that I didn’t want to kiss him, which I totally did, but it was more that I wanted to know him first, and if I just let him kiss me I was afraid that he wouldn’t want to see me again.
“I thought I was the one that wanted to kiss you, if I remember you telling me correctly” I still had my hands lingering on his chest and it didn’t seen it bother him. I was standing so close to him that I could smell his alluring aroma, and his sweet breath was washing over my face.
“Oh yeah.” He said only half smiling. “You do realise I kind of have a little thing for you” He said so effortlessly that I blushed.
“We only meet a few hours ago,” I said smiling
“A lot can happen in an hour” Jai said with an expression that filled me with confusion and happiness at the same time.
“If you want, we can go out some time, officially I mean, but only if you want to?” I said very quickly and nervously.
“I would very much like that” his face lit up, and I kissed him on the cheek and he thought the word “beautiful” to me. I blushed, whispered good-bye and half skipped up the steps to the front door; I stood on the porch and watched him disappear into the night.

okay, I'm new to this but I'll try my best.
First of all, It feels like i already know some parts of the story but that's okay I'm usually head on in what I'm reading by the first paragraph...I read a lot, so I guess I'm pretty weird that way. But I liked the story line, I just felt like you were jumping... everything was moving pretty fast not allowing the reader to actually grasp what he/she was reading or in this case what I was reading. Slow down a bit, you don't want to let the reader know everything about the characters before the second chapter.

For instance, you can make the guy Jai, a mysterious figure in the story for the first few chapters, you can make him appear a stalker or evil person before finally revealing that he's actually an ally. Also, try and control the stream of thoughts of the main character, you need to grab the readers attention from the start and if anything make them more interested as they continue to read.
Aside from that, you might be onto something, so keep writing. Good luck.

Georgie, you are the bestest, and I very much did just edit all of this. I'll e-mail it to you, seeing as it is in colour and I really can't be bothered going through all of microsoft word and adding it all of the forum code to make it show up in colour here. Anyway, I absolutely loved it, and you just HAVE to send me the rest!

There's nothing grammatical I couldn't find wrong in the one you've attached. Everything's good. You should probably now replace that one with the one you've posted on here ;)
