Evil Like Me

This is a sketch that I drew. It took me about an hour and a half to complete minus the erasing and smudging. I drew Anakin Skywalker from StarWars basically because he's one of my favorite characters from the movie. But here it is, and enjoy.

Hi Prism! Wow, this is really fantastic, but I don't think Anakin has that big of a dimple in his cheeks. Did you copy this from a photo? It would be nice to see it in order to compare.

The shading is magnificent! There is one thing that bothers me about it, though. On the right side of Anakin's face (the left-hand side of the drawing), there is a strip of white. You were probably trying to make a shadow effect, but in order to do this, I would either make the highlighting on the right side of the nose and chin more exaggerated, or make the highlight on the cheekbone less so. It's up to you, but the intensity of the shading should be consistent, in order for us to get a feel for exactly where the light is shining 'from.' I hope this helps!

Anywaaays…

Abigail made a point about the shading but I didn’t find much wrong with that too be honest. I like how dramatic it is. Just make certain that when you use a dramatic style of shading, you really know where you want to highlight because that spot is where the eye is going to be drawn. And right now, my eye is drawn mostly to the forehead and the left side of the image at his cheek.

The thing that honestly brothers me just a bit is how severely his face tapers down to his chin. I understand that it probably comes from the angle that you want his head to be tilted at, downward, but it is a bit…harsh. That’s really more of my opinion.

Overall, this is a very well executed image and it was definitely an accurate image as well.
