Remember to keep the hand looking natural. It sometimes helps to dangle your own hand in the air and make a sketch of what you see, specifically how your fingers are aligned. In reality, humans don't pose their fingers in the position seen in this picture. How a human's fingers hang is determined by the length of the tendons in each. As you will notice, the pointer finger, when in a natural position, lingers higher than the middle finger, and the middle finger lingers higher than the ring finger. The pinky finger hangs higher than the ring and middle fingers, but lower than the pointer. And there you have the human hand! Most likely the finest example of a drawing of the human hand in art history is located on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, in Michelangelo's "Creation of Man," a.k.a., "Creation of Adam." On the pointer finger of your drawing, the bones aren't exactly positioned right.
