About the best I could EVER do.

So....I was away this weekend, as a few of you may know. I had a party, and took pictures that turned out half decent for once! I'm proud. Sort of.

I love this cat. She's evil and her name is Squishy. (She actuallly LET me HOLD her! I was so happy!) She's my favourite out of my grandma's three cats.

This is my favourite tree at my grandma's! (I love trees. Don't judge me.) My grandpa and I named it Muffy. (Yes, Muffy the pinetree.)

I quite like this picture, actually. I know what you mean when you say how hard it was to get the frog to sit still; been there, done that, and it's not easy. However, I think you pulled this picture off quite nicely, so bravo. There's only a few things I would like to mention. The first is that the frog's nose isn't as sharp & clear as the rest of the photo is. In fact, it's a tad blurry, and a bit of a distraction. If you weren't already using macro mode on your camera, maybe you should try it out next time you shoot subjects like insects or amphibians, even flowers. Still, I like this one.

I can just picture you lying upside down or in a very weird position just to get this photo. Kudos to you, then. I like this one as well. The colors are all gloomy and dark, which I like a lot better than if you would have taken this same picture when the light was bright & harsh. Funny, isn't it, that even the most random things can turn out to be great subjects in photography?

I can see what you were going for with this picture, but unfortunately, you didn't pull it off quite too well. The focus, I'm assuming, was on the raindrops that had collected upon the grass, right? However, it came out a bit blurry - not overwhelmingly so, but still, it becomes a distraction. If you are going to cancel out the background with a blur like that, you have to make sure that your subject in front is still in perfect focus. This would have been a good time to use the macro mode on your camera, because it's pefect for situations like this.

My eyes, they burn! I'm guessing you took this picture inside, using the flash that comes with your camera. The result is a completely blown out photo - the colors dulled, and the reflection of the camera flash in the cat's eyes. However, the worst part of this is that the white fur on the cat is completely blinding and bright. A hotspot, some call it. Still, what cute cat.

Not again! The light in this picture, along with the flash from your camera has completely dried out the image. No brilliant, striking colors - and it looks like this tree does have color, just that the combined light of the day & your flash sort of toned it down. Also, the light coming through the trees is a bit bright and hurts my eyes (I know, I complain too much, lol). Next time, try turning the camera flash off and shooting during noon or whenever the forest is naturally bright (when you don't need the flash to make the picture pretty).

I like this one, actually. I know how extremly hard it is to catch a decent picture of these little guys. Trust me, I spent one full day out in the forest trying to capture some good pictures. However, just because I am a nit-picky person, I'd like to mention that the wing isn't fully in focus nor is the eye.


You definitely have some good pictures here, Isha, especially since they are keepsakes from your trip. Keep taking pictures & you can only improve your skills. I also suggest going out and experimenting with your camera, getting to know the functions, etcetera.

Still, though, hope you had a fun trip!

Hi Isha! I hope you had a good party! Well, on with the review!

1. How did you get a photo of a frog on a perfectly pink flower? I can hardly ever get the photo of the frog or the perfectly pink flower, let alone one on top of the other! This is outstanding!

2. Wait, what is it? I'm really confused. The angle looks pretty cool, though, if I only knew what it was.

3. Ooh, nice! I love how the little droplets of rain (or dew, whichever it may be) were totally in focus. But it bothers me that I can't see the rest of those blades at the top of the photo. They're sort of chopped off.

4. Oh, hi Squishy! You're a good girl! You let Isha hold you! How nice! Okay, just kidding. I really like this photo, but I can't really discern her legs from the rest of her body. Humph.

5. Whoa, that is awesome! It looks super fun to climb. Do you ever climb it? I love trees too. Muffy seems awesome! I love the way you looked at this tree differently, from the trunk down. The lighting makes it seem majestic, almost magical. I feel like it's something you could find in the movie Avatar.

6. That wing is awesome! It looks as delicate as a spider's web. Is that a pussy willow that the dragonfly is perched on? Fabulous!

Are you kidding, Isha? You're a magnificent photographer! I'd love to see more of your photos. Keep shooting! (And no, not in the violent way.)

Oohhh, I really like these!

Okay, so getting out of the way the ones I don't like as much...

The cat and pine tree pics. Not as good. It's just the way the lighting is, it makes them look way less natural and the flash floods out the color.

Now the rest...

My favorite was definately the one with the frog...oh, and the dragonfly one too!!! But basically, I like them all for the same reasons - they look fresh, crisp, and colorful but all in a natural way that makes them beautiful. Some were kinda dull subjects but they were still nice to look at and were nice pics.

Hi Isha, this is the first time I have seen you in Art and Photography. WOWZERS! Now down to the review.

1. I love, love, love this! I really have a feeling it could be published. It certainly has the potential. Not much to review though that always makes me sad. My only complaint is that the frogs nose is slightly blurry and I would like if its eyes were more focused on, but that is it. (A pathetic review really.)

2. I really like this. The sky is what makes it really good. Again there is not any big problems. There is a the lack of grass on the left side of the photo, but that is more of an observation than anything. I am not sure if it has publishing quality, though. There seems to be something lacking. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe I am searching for a bang something to completely draw my attention. I'm not sure.

3. This is an O.K. photo, but like others have said it is a bit blurry. (The subject I mean.) This makes the photo kind of bla. I don't think this has publishing quality.

4. This is defiantly a no. The first thing I notice is how harsh the flash made everything. The white fur is the worst. The fur on the back half of the cat is grainy. The reflection in the cats eyes is also bad. The whiskers stand out way to much on the one side and aren't there on the other. Sorry, I do love the cat.

5. The lighting in this is just a bit too much. Where the light comes through the branches it makes everything blurry.

6. I really love this. I have tried millions of times to get a good picture of a dragonfly and never succeeded. Anyway I could mention the parts that a blurry, but I am tired of being nit picky. I really like how you focused on the wing. It is really the most interesting part anyway.

I really like those pictures of yours. For some reason, the one of the grass is the most interesting to me. Maybe because all the pictures have a simple-yet-beautiful feel. One thing's for sure, you're definitely a better photographer than me!

This is great work..the toad on the flower was amazing.
Such a great capture especially for such a fickle animal. I bet that took a lot of time! I admire your patience! I would have probably given up trying to get a good shot.
But it's amazing at how you captured it, it's like we're almost staring into its eyeball.
I love the rest of your work too, very interesting.
You could try using some effects like changing the hue/saturation, contrast, temperature, etc to make them even more interesting.
But really, great work!

These photos are pretty good! Take more, heaps with colour. You're a pretty good photographer.

First photo: I think this one is my favourite out of all of them! I love how you captured the frog - still, but with life. I love how its seated right next to the yellow pollen centre of the flower and pink surrounds the frog. Its bright and colourful and just makes me feel happy. I love ones with animals! This is really good!

Second: Its not of nature, but I like it all the same. I love the tank against the grey sky and like how some golden wild grass is just poking out from the corner of the photo. It reminds me of the country - a big water tank in a field. It also looks like its about to rain, and makes the picture look really good!

Third: I don't think I liked this one much, sorry. I like the concept though, a raindrop rolling off grass. I think it would have looked better if it were a raindrop on a leaf, just about to fall and splash!

Fourth: What a lovely cat! It would have looked better if there wasn't sooo much light on her and if you captured her snuggled up on a couch or something - making her look warm and cosy. Giving a sense of home. But really good all the same.

Fifth: I have to say - I love trees too!!! They are awesome and represent nature so well. They're natural, old or young, can be historic, and are symbolic. They have seen time go by. The picture is amazing! Maybe dim the light a bit, but it was great! It looks cold, and I love the hints of moss at the start of each branch. I also love how there are so many branches. It makes me feel like I'm there sitting under it.

Sixth: Omg...I love this! Bugs (especially flying ones) are really hard to take pictures of! But you did it! Congrats! I also love how its a dragonfly - exotic! I love the colours, maybe edit it and make the colours more vivid and fade the other things like the stick more to make the dragonfly stand out. It still looks amaing though!

Great work with this! Keep it up! I'd love to see what you photograph next...
