Love is something I’ve dreamed of all my life
When I was little, it was a tool I used to have fun
It was a game to try and get boys to like me
Being the plain Jane that I was
And it was a game I loved to play
As I got older, things started to change
Boys were no longer a joke
And love was no longer a game
It started with crushes, one in particular
A little knot in the stomach
And a little nervousness when he came near
But then it got worse
As I matured, it all got stronger
The knot became tighter
And the nervousness grew
Until one day, I couldn’t speak to him at all
Other boys came and went,
But always, my eyes were on him
My heart would jump at the sight of him
But I’d run away in fear
Then the guy came into my life
Someone I had never known,
A new person, with whom I was calm
I jumped at the chance
“Now I can move on” I rejoiced to myself
But move on I could not
Still I thought him, almost every day
The guy left almost as quickly as he had came
So it was back to him
Back to the dreams
I knew would never come true
