How could someone so nice die?
She was happy, understanding, and inspirational.
Everyone she met became touched by her.
She knew how her life would end,
She saw it coming, so why was she so ok with dying?
How could she be so ready for her fate?
She was only 13, and hadn’t even started to live yet.
But the disease ate her body, and hungered for more.
She became weak and frail, but she was supposed to get more time,
To enjoy everyone who loved her.
But then she was gone, her delicate body breaking like glass.
And I am stuck here shocked,
I feel like part of me has broke with her,
A part of me that I never knew I contained before I met her.
She has become a part of all the people she inspired and loved,
I can feel her inside of me, wriggling and moving around.
It’s like her spirit is saying “Now I am free.”
Even though I bottle my feeling up inside,
One day when I let them go,
I will feel her pain, her acceptance, her happiness, her presence.
And then I will go on and live my life,
With every single part of me intact.
Because when she died I let her go,
But now that I have embraced her being gone,
She has filled the part of me that was missing.
Now I feel her bursting inside me saying,
“Now you are free too.”
*Dedicated to my dear friend who is now free. I love you.*
