Doodling....

So, I had an old thread where I said I was going to put my sketches. Only it turned into more of a sketches/photography thread. This one's just going to be for drawings. So I don't get confused.

Eva is a young pit bull terrier who is more face than...well...anything else. Except maybe paws. She's a good, solid little dog with an unhealthy interest in anything that doesn't belong to her. She was commissioned in August of 2010 (a.k.a. early this month).



Also, I shouldn't have to say this, but I will anyway since some of my stuff has been turning up on the web (through no fault of YWS--everything I put on here is decidedly low-resolution), please don't put any of my images on your computer or post them elsewhere. This is how I pay for school. =)

Seriously, you have talent. This is an amazing drawing!
I love the detail you put into her fur and the smooth shading of it's tongue.
The only thing I could find is that I think you should have made a few parts darker. For instance, the back of it's mouth, it seems a darker color would have given it a more 'hallow'(can't find the right word) effect or something. Eh, I'm not too sure. It probably looks different in real life. Scanners aren't exactly picture perfect. >.<
Anyways, wonderful drawing! I love it!

I really don't have much to say, this is seriously good. If there was one area I'd say needed any fixing, it'd be the forehead where the fur just doesn't look as good as the rest of the sketch in general. Still, I think you captured this dog almost as perfectly as a photograph, and it's amazing.

You put so much detail into it! It looks so real! I love how the eyes are shinning, it makes it more life like! I think it is pretty much perfect! I don't see anything that needs to be changed! You are an amazing artist, and you have a lot of talent!

This is excellent.. the quality of the detail and shading blow me away.. the only thing I would say in even remote "criticism" is perhaps add more depth... as in, while the shading is excellent, a great deal of it is the same color. Understandable, as she IS a dog, and dogs kind of have a great deal of fur. But her features could have a greater contrast to them, to make the drawing, well, in a word, "pop".

This IS, of course, simply my lowly opinion. I'm no expert in drawing.

The quality of this second scan is not as good, and to be honest I'm not as happy with this drawing overall. With pups especially (as this guy is), it's tough to get the eye spacing and nose angle just right. Oh well.
