Greetings fellow writers! I'm Jenae. I'm a 17 year old high school senior. I have a rather unhealthy addiction to books, particularly fantasy. It has gotten to the point where I mope around the house dreaming of the library when I finish a book. I also absolutely love fairy tales (the more obscure, the better) and novels that retell them (Robin McKinley and Shannon Hale for the win!). Historical fiction and mysteries are also fun.

In case you haven't guessed I write fantasy. I have been writing it since I was ten. I have several novels started, but due to writers block and the urges to write something else whenever I sit down, I have been unable to finish any of them. Lately I have also started writing poetry.

On a non-writing related note I also enjoy photography (darn those digital cameras that make finding film so hard), and am a (somewhat) avid crocheter.

I am very excited to join this forum and can't wait to get to know everyone!

Fairy tales are amazing. I'm particularly fond of the Grimm Brothers; I own all of their works in this lovely little book. I had to search everywhere to find the originals...not the abridged, children's stuff. Do you prefer their tales, or do you like Hans Christian Andersen's more? xD

You also seem to have a jumping-around writing style and are a film photography fan! Let's be best-est friends! Hahaha

Spork: Squeee! Another fairy tale lover. The Grimm fairy tales are amazing. The originals are so random and fun. However, I prefer Hans Christian Anderson. His stories are so beautiful and bittersweet. Tales from the Arabian Nights are also cool. What's your favorite story (from any author)?

I too am a 17 year old Senior (youngest in my class D:), who has a rather soul-consuming addiction to fantasy books. I adore writing them as well, but never am able to get past the fourth chapter. :c
I too recently started writing poetry, and have been using it as an excuse to not write chapters ever since, quite happily (though guiltily). And I must admit.. I do love photography, but am a digital camera user. *winces*

Anywhoo, the basics of YWS are pretty simple.. it's a peer-oriented-writing-and-other-arts-community. It is not a portfolio site, meaning that you can only post two works every two days. If you tend to pump out words like a writing fiend, then I would recommend writerscafe.org to get your fix of posting, alongside YWS. YWS has a much more diverse focus, and is smaller (in a good way). I don't really have advice.. really. Yeah

How could I forget the Arabian Nights? I like them too. But my favorite...I don't think I can pick just one, but two I love very much are The Snow Queen by H.C.A. and Snow White and Rose Red by the Grimm Brothers. You?

Ahh, so you write fantasy? I've tried to here and there, but recently I've stuck mainly to poetry. I do, however read alot of fantasy, and Shannon Hale is probably one of my favorites!
I also love photgography... I took a film photography class and I'm sorry to say most of my pictures turned out rather badly, even if I did enjoy being in the darkroom. What fun! I tend to stick to digital cameras though, because my film camera is broken and film is quite hard to find
