Day 1, 9:36pm
About three hours later, after my team had set up multiple cameras in the living room, we settled down in there for an *EVP session. I had moved a chair from the kitchen and set it in front of the couch where Heather, our team’s psychic, was sitting. I looked over at mike, the tech guy for our team, who nodded, signaling he was ready with the thermal camera.
I turned on the *DVR, set it on the table in front of me, and said, “All right, EVP session number one. May tenth, 2004, 9:38pm. The X Residence.”
“Is there someone in here with us?” I asked no one in particular. “My name is Ashton, and I am an investigator. On the couch in front of me is Heather, she is a psychic, so she’ll be able to tell us if you’re here, and that man with the strange device in the corner is Mike, he’ll be able to document you with something called a camera, so we can prove you exist.
“We are not here to harm you, but we would like to figure out why it is you’re trying to harm the nice couple living here.” Suddenly, I felt the room drop in temperature. I pulled out a residual thermometer, and checked the room’s temperature. “65.4̊F. Pretty cold for an early summer night. You feeling anything, Heather.”
Heather closed her blue eyes as she, I imagined, extended her conscious around the room. “They’re in here with us,” she said in a dreamy sort of voice.
“Can you tell me what they look like?”
For purposes of the investigation, Heather was never told any details. I pulled out my notepad and began writing down information as she started to speak. “One is an older man, forty-seven I think. He’s tall and wearing a black tuxedo. The second one is a girl, fifteen years old. She’s much shorter than the man, and wearing a dress, white lace perhaps.”
“Can you tell me where they are standing?”
“They’re to your left, standing in the entryway to the kitchen.” I looked at Mike who immediately pointed his camera that way.
“No figures,” he said, looking at his monitor.”Wait, what’s that on the floor?”
I stood up and walked over to Mike. Looking at the monitor I could see the room in a whole range of colors representing its temperature. Everything was normal, except over by the area Heather indicated. It looked like there was two sets of foot prints.
“Can you tell us your names?” I asked. I waited about a minute after the question, giving them ample opportunity to answer it, and then asked, “Can you possible come over and touch one of us.” Heather shivered, as if she were cold, and I watched with excitement as he breath misted in front of her.
“Oh shit, man,” Mike whispered. “There are two fucking figures standing next to Heather.”
“Can you tell me what you feel, Heather?” I asked her.
She nodded, her breath still misting in front of her. “I feel sadness. They’re sad that they are dead.” She stopped for a second in thought, as if contemplating something. “But I also think I feel anger. Anger at the current residents. They don’t want them to change their house.”
“This isn’t your house anymore,” I said. “This is their house now.” Suddenly, I heard a think behind me. I turned around and saw a book lying on the floor. “Was that you? Did you knock the book onto the floor.”
“Their upset now,” Heather said. “I think they want us out of here.”
“I’m sorry, but we can’t leave here,” I told the room. “The residents here want us to figure out how to get you out of here.” It was a lie, but I knew it would stir them up. I felt the air around me suddenly go frigid. It was like I had stepped into a freezer. I could see my breath misting before me. “What’re you getting Mike?”
“They’re standing right by you now,” Mike simply said, his voice shaking.
“Is this all you got?” I asked. “Come on, I’ve been places colder than this.”
“Get out!” The voice came from everywhere. It was no more than a whisper, but the force of it made me think it was scream.
“No,” I replied defiantly. “I think we’ll stay here, thank you very much. Unless you to want throw us out, but I don’t think you can do that.” I felt a sharp pain on the back of my head. Instantly the world went dark. I was unconscious before my head even hit the floor.
* EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon and DVR is Digital Voice Recorder. Both these devices are use to Investigate the Paranormal. The DVR is is set to record EVP which are voices that weren't heard originally, except when the tape on the DVR is played back.
Day 2, 9:03am
I remember waking up, feeling as if someone took a sledgehammer to the back of my head. Sitting up, I realized we were in the hotel room that we booked several miles from the X Residence. I looked over and saw Heather asleep on the other bed, her black hair splayed out on the pillow. On the floor, Mike was camped out in a sleeping bag, snoring softly.
Though I knew I should wait until the others got up, I went over to the equipment bag and pulled out the DVR and a set of headphones. Also, I grabbed my notepad from my bag, and sat back on my bed and listened.
“Is there anyone in the room here with us?” I heard myself say. Several seconds later I heard a voice say yes. It sounded female, and I knew it wasn’t Heather because it belonged to someone much younger. Nothing happened for the longest moment. It wasn’t till I heard myself say, “This isn’t your house anymore. This is their house now.” I heard what I took was a man yelling in frustration and then the book falling to the floor.
“Was that you? Did you knock the book to the floor?”
“Get out,” said a voice that didn’t belong to Mike or Heather.
“Their upset now,” I heard Heather say. “I think they want us to leave.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. The residents here want us to figure out how to get you out of here.”
“Get the fuck out of my house!”
“What’re you getting Mike?”
“They’re standing right by you now.”
“Is this all you got? Come one, I’ve been in colder places than this.”
“Get out!”
“No, I think we’ll stay thank you very much. Unless you want to throw us out, but I don’t think you can do that.” I heard what sounded like a vase breaking on something very solid, and a thump that must of been me falling to the floor.
“Oh fuck,” I heard Mike say. I heard the spirits howl in rage, and what must of been very expensive things breaking against walls. “Get the DVR, we need to get the fuck out of here,” Mike said to Heather. I heard Heather scrambling up and then nothing as she shut the DVR off.
Finding the local phonebook, I pulled out my cell phone and made a quick call.
