Hello! I'm Niamh! Er--I'm not a fan of introductions. So--I'll try:

I'm an absolute European history and mythology freak, especially Irish, Scottish and Viking-Age Norse history, and Irish, Scottish, Celtic and Norse mythology.

I write mostly historical fiction, but my most recent work is out of Scottish mythology, and takes place during Elizabethan Scotland (not the most friendly of times there.)

I also love the study of language itself. I'm a dork about word derivations. My favorite languages are Irish and Scottish Gaelic, Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon.


That is really all I can say about myself. I look forward to reading everyone's work.

That's such a cool interest to have! I'm probably not as knowledgeable as you are, but the little of those myths I have read and heard of I've enjoyed immensely.

Doe: I pronouce in Niav, but it just depends on the translator. Neev is also a way of saying it.

Hello and welcome! I like mythology as well, but I know mostly Greek/Egyptian mythology. I once read a book on Viking myths, it freaked me out for some reason and I had trouble falling asleep...

Anyway, I reccomend you read the book "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. It's about a guy who ends up working for Mr. Wednesday, a modern-day incarnation of a certain king of the Norse gods...it's really sweet.
