Ill give the first person 2000 points to tell me who oinkerwinkle was.
Give me what forum he used to go, what famous program he made, and what the .mdl and the .mdx file formats are.

A rather avid modeler who did tons of stuff for World of Warcraft 3. He went to http://www.wc3campaigns.net and specialized in modeling quite a bit. He also came up with tons of .mdl and .mdx files. Those file extensions (.mdl and .mdx) are what WoW recognizes to be modeling extensions. The difference between them? MDX is probably what you're going to be using in the game -- it's the compressed version. MDL is what you're probably going to be tweaking since you can actually open those with text editor.

.mdl is a special extension that holds modelling data, which are common in games. This extension is used in Warcraft 3 as well.

.mdx is a multiple index file, which is opened by dBase IV program. I don't know exactly what it holds, but it probably has programming information.

How ever,

MDX is probably what you're going to be using in the game -- it's the compressed version. MDL is what you're probably going to be tweaking since you can actually open those with text editor.

MDX and MDL could both be used in game, people could actually switch, change, and create whole models with the MDL file through a text editor.

I used to do some of that stuff.
This one time I was bored so I made a spork, gave it a skin, and it was used as a weapon in-game.
