Why Slipknot are good.

Many of you out there may think that Slipknot are nothing but aggressive people screaming into a microphone. Many say that their music is meaningless and merely a reincarnation of Satan. I happen to disagree.
I have been a fan since 2003, the moment I was introduced to their music I was drawn to it, I have never looked back since that wonderful day. The "screaming" comes from the meaning behind the lyrics. The meaning of Slipknot's music is how shit life can be. Everyone will agree with me on this: you don't have to look too far to find some kind of injustice or wrong, this is what their music promotes. Four albums, fifteen years, and until the death of bassist of Paul Gray in May (RIP) all nine original members of the band since the first album have been together, and that is rare. I'll tell you something you won't want to believe and that is Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor is one of the best singers in metal, rock, and pretty much world wide.I say this because he can capture every type of singing type: Melodic singing, Screaming and Rapping, and on top of this he isn't a bad lyricist, as most of the aggression comes from Taylor. At 36 his voice is only getting better.
To those of you who don't like them: ignore the stereotype and check them out, also listen to Stone Sour (Corey Taylor's other Iowa based band.)

I do not dislike Slipknot because I think they're music is overtly superficial or that "they are a reincarnation of Satan".

I am simply dissuaded by their sinister and blatant manipulation of the natural frustration of their teenage audience. What other logical reason could their be for their obtuse and puerile display of aggression.

Teenagers like it not primarily because they can empathise with the seemingly intense frustrations expressed by Slipknot, but because socially generated anxiety is dissipated when they realise that they are not different for having these carnal feelings of anger and angst. If you do not have these internal conflicts, or if you find internal solace in other places, then you cannot appreciate Slipknot as musicians.

Yeah, I guess.
But I truly like Slipknot as I have endured much shit in my life, much more so than most other people. It's good to hear them let the anger out. It's a shame that most of Slipknot's teenage fan base THINK they have gone through shit when they really haven't. Very few people can really and truly appreciate Slipknot's deeper meanings.

why do you want to listen to music that reminds you of how shit life can be? listen to something positive.
