Alright, the artwork itself is rather decent, despite being quite simple. However, I'd like to help you on your picture-taking whenever your scanner wonks out again. 1. Hold your paper as flat as possible, bend back the other side of the book if you must. 2. Get as strong a light as you can, but make sure not to get it too close and peak off the white (That just means that the light is so bright that it blinds us) If it does peak, then put the light a little farther back and create a diffuse lighting. 3. Remove objects from the picture, such as that finger, or any shadows (another reason to bend back the other half of the book. That's all for now! Keep on drawing!
There is one burning question in my mind, and that is: what is that? There's really not much to the drawing, and if it wasn't for the title, I'd have no idea what you were trying to depict. Basically, your drawing is too simple, and I don't see how it represents fire and ice. Flowy hand thingies and two colors does not an interesting abstraction or depiction make.
I suggest that you maybe get a bit more creative -- what is it that makes fire fire and ice ice? How can you draw it so that someone looking at your picture will instantly go "That's fire and that's ice"? How can you add to it to give your viewer an impression of something more so that they'll spend time looking at it rather than just quickly glancing?
Jenathura covered the photography part, so I'll touch a little on the presentation. The lines really take a lot away. There are ways to remove the lines, but I suggest getting an unlined notebook for just drawings if you plan on sharing them in the future. Scanning in/taking a picture of an unlined drawing is much easier than digitally removing the lines.
Judging by the Robert Frost lines at the top, I'm guessing that this is a representation of Fire and Ice from his poem of the same name. Which is definitely interesting and you've got a great composition going on- though to agree with Jenthura, you need to take a better picture of it to let us see it more clearly, and maybe next time don't do it on lined paper!
The drawing itself... I'd like you to think for a while what fire and ice look like. Fire is flickery and about a thousand different colours at the same time. It's never just red, unless it's super hot or something (or if you burn strontium in it). But generally there are oranges and yellows and blues and blacks in fire. It's a wondrous thing to behold, not just red fingers. And think about ice. Ice is clear, like water, or white, but it's a white made up of every other colour as well, right? It's not just blue, any more than fire is red. They're two very beautiful, very colourful things. So why not try to capture that? It'd be more fun and all.
