Lisa Harnot, Contortionist.

Lisa groaned as her alarm went off. 5am. She planned on practicing all day today, and it was time to start. She took a shower and put her contortionist's outfit on, then put street clothes over the top; blue jeans, and a black t shirt.

She brushed her hair and tied it into a ponytail before going outside and getting into her car, turning it on. She pulled out and drove towards the studio. She was rather uneasy; some of those acts had been amazing. She wasn't sure if she could compete with them.

She pulled up in front of the studio, climbing out. The outfit was a little uncomfortable under her clothes, but she was used to it. She strode inside and saw that the VI and the gymnast were already there. She made a face at VI's choice of music, (being careful to let them see), and stripped off her street clothes.

She moved to the opposite side of the gym from VI and turned on Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzK6GmfDcpc) on her radio that she'd brought on full volume, not really caring about what the VI group thought. She had to do her routine to this song, and she had to get it right. She wouldn't be able to get it right if she listened to it on her mp3 player; wires and being a contortionist didn't mix.

If they had a problem with it, it was their problem. She wasn't going to turn her music off for them or anybody else.

((If someone complains she'll get annoyed, but she'll probably turn it off if they ask nicely. She'll show off when she turns it off too; she'll get into some hugely painful-looking position and do it with her foot, or something along those lines. xD))
Just another quack spouting psychobabble.

I woke up around 7 o'clock on the first day in Vegas. Wow, I was really here!

Choosing a song for the next round could wait; I wanted to see what some of the other acts were doing. So after a shower and breakfast, I headed over to the gym, my iPod loudly set on shuffle. I walked in and was suddenly surrounded by three different songs, including the one that I myself was listening to. My eyes widened with surprise and I turned off my iPod, realizing that there was no way I'd be able to continue listening to mine with all the other music playing.

I sat against one of the mirror-covered walls that was about in the center of the room. On one side of me was a gymnast and a contortionist, and on the other side was a singing/dancing group. They had chosen a Fergie song for their routine. I had nothing personally against Fergie, just that hip-hop wasn't really my style, even coming from L.A. Not counting their slightly ridiculous choice in music, their routine was good - really good. But then, so were the other two. Of course, though, I could match them easily.

As I watched the dancing group, known in the competition as VI, I noticed that the main girl who was singing the song was getting increasingly irritated at the contortionist, who appeared to be purposely trying to drown out their music with her own. She had chosen a Pat Benetar song, an artist whom I was much more fond of. The gymnast was smart enough to be listening to her song on an MP3 player. Just the look on the singing girl's face told me that this would end very, very badly.

Well, I think guns help. If you just stand there and yell BANG I don't think you're going to kill too many people...

I wasn't in the mood for this. Another girl walked into the studio, and blared her music. Ricky shot me a concerned look, but I was out to prove I could be nice. So, I went over and turned up my music. I grinned as she looked over at us.

"From the top," I said. We all got into a "V" formation. I was in the front, Ricky and Dale flanked me. Sean and Tod were behind them. We reached right in an exaggerated slow motion. Then, as the drums started, Sean and Tod moon-walked back, which lead into a back handspring. Tod messed up on his, and landed on his head, though.

"Tod, you idiot!" I stopped the music, "seriously. We can't afford to get hurt."

"I'm sorry, your majesty," he spat sarcastically.

"Apology accepted. From the top!" I yelled. He got up, rubbing his head, and got into formation.

Once we got past the handspring, Ricky and Dale did a little synchronized freeze-dancing (as I called it) routine. Then I began to sing. Well, it was more like rapping, but it didn't matter. I didn't pay attention to what the others were doing in the background, until someone bumped into me.

I turned around and slapped him. Seeing it was Ricky, I narrowed my eyes. "Stay out of my way!" I yelled, "Take five," I threw my hands in the air, and watched as the others went outside.

I put the music on, and worked on my part. When I wasn't singing, I got to do some really cool dance moves. Step, sashe, spin, spin, cross, drop. Push up, sing.

((Oh great! Okay, I'll try to get in, but I'm going to camp today, so I can't right now. I might ask for another update when I get back. I don't want to be annoying, but I don't feel like reading 3 pages of posts. Anyway...bye...))

The Black Dreamer (Alan Steffie)

I stepped into the gym, Rebbecca close beside me. Her blonde hair was pulled into a low bun, and she was in her normal practice clothes. I had on jeans and a sweatshirt, typical me-wear.

I pulled off my hood, and went over to a empty space. I set up the trick table, and had Rebbecca sit on top of it. If all went well, I would pull out all four legs of the table, and the top would appear to stay floating with Rebbecca on top of it. The trick was based on illusion, and there was no room for mistakes. A magnet was placed on the table stand, and well as inside the table. The two strongest types of magnets in the world, and set to repel each-other.

I pulled out one leg of the table, and Rebbecca leaned to make it appear she was loosing balance. I pulled out the opposite leg, and she went tumbling to the ground. I helped her up, and handed her a bottle of water. "Take five, find your center," I told her. Find your center was basically a term for 'find your balance'. We used it a lot in acts that required balance.

About two minutes later, I saw Rebbecca stretching; one leg on the floor, the other at an 80 degree angle while she was bending forward. A few of the other male acts whistled. she put both her hands on the floor, lifted up into a split handstand, and gently put both feet on the floor. With that, she got up.

She skipped over to me, "Okay, let's try again,"

I refrained from applauding as the magician warmed up, seeing the deathglare Danny was sending him. Probably for distracting her group. A dark haired girl walked in with a boombox walked in and I groaned. I could see why Danny was so mad- there was so much noise, I couldn't even focus on mine, and it was blasted through earbuds. I cranked up the volume until it was about an eighth away from full, so I could just barely hear myself think, drowning out the other music. Emiliani Torrini for me and nothing else.

Continuous flip, no hands, no hands, twist, backflip, stick. Cartwheel, cartwheel, roundoff, flip, no hands, stick. I ripped through the routine without so much as a bad stick it. Confidence regained, I decided to try something. Deep breaths.

Run, round off, no hands, twist, aerial arabian, aerial backflip until stick.

It was one of the most breathtaking stunts I'd ever seen, and it would've been too when I'd performed it. If, you know, I had actually stuck it. See, in a stunt with that much going on in one no hands flip, you build up a lot of momentum. Sometimes, like now, you lose control, and when you try to stick it, your body keeps going.

So instead of standing straight up and down on my feet, I tumbled forward, landing sharply on my left leg, rolled over and over until my arm was surely bruised and definitely carpet burned, and slammed my right shoulder into the wall. Hard. Praying I hadn't been seen, I tried to get up.

My leg buckled and I fell again, carpet burning my knee and sending a jolt through my bone. I got up again, hand grabbing fiercely at the wall, and using the wall, limped to the opposite wall, with my stuff. I slid down the wall, rubbing my shoulder. I analyzed what I had done wrong, replaying the stunt in my head. Oh, there it was. My twist there wasn't tight enough, the arabian was off center. I got up again and limped over to the far wall, only falling once.

I unvelcroed a blue mat and pulled it over to my routine area, letting flop onto the ground. There. Now that wouldn't happen again.

I still hurt like HECK, though.

Excuse me? Who are you to talk? It's one thing to express yourself...But I think you've crossed the border of either Flaming or Trolling.
You're new? Great seas! Why haven't you gone to the Buddy System yet?

I watched the acts in the gym. A couple more had shown up. My fascination with magic drew my attention to a magician in another corner. My focus was suddenly redirected when I heard a loud 'thud' on another wall of the gym.

I looked over quickly and saw the gymnast pulling herself up off the ground. She was rubbing her shoulder in pain. I winced as I pieced together the possibilities of everything that could have happened to her. I watched her walk to another wall where she sat and listened to her music, thinking carefully. I sighed quietly and took one last look around the gym. With that, I stood and walked out. I smiled sympathetically at the gymnast as I passed her and she forced a smile back.

As I walked out the door, I was suddenly knocked off balance by an oncoming force. The force and I both fell backwards onto the ground, wondering what hit us. I looked over and saw a girl collapsed on the ground, pushing herself up. My jaw dropped slightly.

"Oh wow, I'm sorry," I said to her as I started to sit up.

She looked up at me. "No, it was me. I was looking for a song." She held up an MP3 player.

I looked her over carefully. "You a singer?"

She nodded. "Yes. Best singer to come out of Maryland." Her voice was swelled with pride.

I gave a little smile and gestured to myself. "Best singer out of California."

Thanks Rayne

Lorelai:

"Best singer out of California." the girl said.

When we were standing I looped my arm through her and said "You are my new best friend! I'm Lorelai, by the way."

She laughed and said "Bridgette."

With a smile I said "I used to have a friend named Bridgette. We were really close. But then she moved away to Michigan. Haven't talked to her in a few years."

She gave a small laugh and said "What do you sing?"

I rose my eyebrows and said "Songs." After wainting a second I said "No, I'm just kidding. I sing whatever songs I feel like. Depends on what mood I'm in or what's happened in my life. How about you?"

Rolling my shoulder again, I got up. My knee protested and swerved out from under me, landing me on the carpet yet again. With a hiss and a yelp, I got to my feet again and limped to the starting point.

Clicking play, I readied myself and launched into the routine. I hummed a bit to the song as my muscles stretched, easing the soreness of my knee and shoulder. After a few more practice runs, feeling and doing better each time, I decided to try the No-Handed Suicide, as I now had dubbed it.

Run, round off, no hands, twist, aerial arabian, aerial backflip until stick.

AHAHAHA! I did it! And though I stumbled out of the stick-it, I didn't completely fall out of it. I was still giddy. I did it, I did it, I did it! Oh, it was so going in the routine. Yeah, I'd have to tighten it up, make it smoother, cleaner, but I had to do that with the rest of my routine, right? So I'd just have to practice more. Simple.

Still immensely proud, I walked back to the wall with much less of a limp. It was more like... a mini-limp? I don't know. I'm sure there's a word for it. But anyway, I was in a good mood. So far today, I'd fallen completely out of a no hands flip (OWW), gotten beat up by the carpet and wall (OWWWW), and I was pretty sure Danny was well on her way to murdering each and every one of us.

But I did the No-Handed Suicide, and that made up for everything.
