Hey, my name is Phillip. I've never been on a writing site before now, but hopefully I'll learn something from it. Yeah. I don't really have anything to say.
Hello Phillip. I think you'll find it a good place -not just for writing, for socializing, too.
...
I sound like a spokesperson. Anyway, it's fine if you don't have anything to say, because most of the members here have plenty to say. Never a dull moment here on YWS!
Usually... meh...
Well, PM me if you need anything, or a mod or JM. (Their names are green.)
hey, Jude, don't make it bad take a sad song and make it better remember to let it into your heart then you can start to make it better.
I'm SporkPunk, but normal people usually call me Leslie.
You'll definitely learn a lot here. And ninja is right about most of us being pretty talkative.
Well, there are some cool places you should definitely check out. Like, the welcome area, and the FAQ. If you have questions, there is a thread for that, right here. You can also check out the community forums, and the chat area, among loads of other cool places. Just be click-happy.
Also, like ninja said, if you need anything at all, PM me or a mod or JM. They're the users with green names. They don't bite. (Usually.) xD
Okay, now for the fun part. What do you write? Do you prefer actually writing, or typing everything? Who's your favorite author/poet?
Again, welcome to YWS! ~Sporky aka Leslie
Grasped by the throat, grasped by the throat. That's how I feel about love. That it's not worth it.
I write mostly poetry, I've never really tried fiction before. I usually write my poems by hand and then maybe type them up later but I don't normally share my writing. I'm nervous. lol. I read a lot of literature but I don't know who my favorite is. I really the Romantics though.
I wrote my first review but I don't think it was so good, lol. I'll have to learn how to write those too.
Poetry is awesome. I like reading it, but I can't write it to save my life; I'm more of a fiction writer. xD
Don't be nervous! (Okay, you can be a little nervous until you post your first work, but then you can't.) No one is going to be completely mean and be like, "OMG NOOOO THIS IS SO BAD DO NOT EVAR WRITE AGAIN!!!1!!!" That's ridiculous. You'll get a wide range of reviews though, some people are a bit harsher than others, but they don't do it maliciously. They just want to help. We're a friendly bunch.
As for reviews, good on you that you're jumping right in! I read it, and while I'm not a poetry person and I don't know how they review things, it didn't seem bad to me. You'll improve. Just kind of adopt a "watch and learn" technique. Look at how other people review, then tweak it and make it your own. Eventually, you'll figure out ways of doing things that are more "you" and it'll be great. Personally, I've done 25 reviews, and I'm still figuring things out. xD
