In The Shadows
Chapter 1
“Vencera don't worry about a thing, I'll take care of it.”
Vencera awoke from her dream completely shaken. She's had the same dream for a full week now. All she saw was a dark silhouette and red eyes in her dream, until this night. She heard his voice. And the thing that terrified her was the fact that he knew her name. Even though it was only a dream; it scared her.
She got out of bed to take a shower and get ready for school. When she looked in the mirror to do her hair, there was a message written on it with her eyeliner. It said, “Don't be scared of your dreams, I was sent to protect you, not harm you.”
The message seemed to be similar to what she had dreamed. They both had a similarity, they both implied of a protector. Someone that wouldn't hurt her, but could this really be happening to her? Could he really exist?
Vencera quickly got ready for school, went out her door, got in her car and raced out of her driveway. This whole thing was really getting under her skin. How did that message appear in her bathroom mirror. No one was in there, she knew there couldn't be someone there with her.
Vencera's friends motioned for her to go towards them. Her friends consisted of Elliott, Macey, and Patch. Eliott was the sweetheart of the group, until you got him mad. Even then though, he wasn't very intimidating. Macey was nice, but knew how to be a bitch when needed. Macey knew how to stick up for herself and did a very good job of it. Her and Elliott were a Couple as well. Then there was Patch. Know one really knew much about him, except for the fact he is mysterious and dangerous towards people he doesn't like. When he is around, know one even goes near them.
“Vencera, come on, get over here!” Macey cried out.
This made Vencera smile a little as she ran over to them. When she got there though, she was side tracked. She saw him, but she seemed to be the only one to acknowledge his presence. Even in the daytime, she couldn't see his face. Her heart was racing and she felt faint. She quickly turned to Patch. Him being his normal self could tell something was wrong when no one else could. It was one of his many talents.
“Cera, whats wrong?” Patch asked, “You look like you've seen a ghost.”
normally when he said that line he would smile, but he meant it this time. Vencera actually thought she might have. She hoped she had anyway, because when she looked back; he was gone. The same he in her dream she doesn't know the name of.
“I thought I saw someone that I recognised, but I must be seeing things. There's no one there now.” she said
“You saw him too?”
Vencera's eyes went wide. If Patch saw him, then she must not be seeing things. Patch looked at her with soft eyes, which is something that rarely ever happened. Then he spoke very demanding.
“Vencera, I have know clue how you recognise that being, but i know he is extremely dangerous. He was sent out on a mission he sure as hell plans on finishing. His name is Shadow, do not under estimate him. You have the right to be scared of him. Oh, also... find a way to get out of town! Now.”
She listened to him and went straight to her car and drove home. Now she knew it was all real. She knew she wasn't going insane. When Vencera got home though, her heart dropped. Her dad was home. He had been gone for three months, which she enjoyed. She didn't like being treated like garbage when he was around. Either way she got out of the car and went inside.
She didn't care what her father really said, she just went up to her room and started packing some of her bags. She also pocketed ten grand, which she earned. After that, and hearing enough from her dad, she walked out of her house and got into her car. At a stop light she noticed a piece of paper by her feet. She picked it up and read it quickly.
“Don't listen too Patch, I'll still know where you are. I won't hurt you!”
the message scared her in two ways. One, what if Patch lied and Shadow didn't want to hurt her. And two, how was he leaving notes in her house, car, and dreams?
