What are you looking for?

When you log onto an authors website, what exactly is it you're looking for? What draws you to their site and what do you want to be there.

I personally like to see a sample chapter or some other stories, perhaps some character biographies, illustrations. Just a few things that make the author more real I guess.

Easy access to FAQs, the author's stories, and little asides about the world/creation of the novel are fun too. Chances are, if I'm going to the author's site, I'm wondering how they do it so I can figure out how I want to write, so all the author-stuff is fun to me.

Usually when I log onto a writers site, I look for interviews, writing advice, and sometimes stuff that doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense. I love to follow Christopher Moore’s blog because it’s funny and you’re almost always bound to find something to titillate your sense of humor. Not only that, but goodies related to his books are always popping up.
Cassandra Clare’s website recently receive and epic revamping and it’s totally cool to pop in and see the graphics and the pretty colors as well as an interview and just lots of stuff.
Another awesome site that I go to is the website for the House of Night because, even if I don’t like the books, I like to peek at the videos and the games.

But that’s just me. ^^

Blogs. I love authors' blogs. And information on their characters is fun. Shannon Hale has a deleted scenes section which is great. I'd also like to see their process, and you know on JK Rowling's site where you do the Easter Egg hunt and find actual handwritten notes she made for the books. That's totally awesome.

I like to see inside their heads.
