Pink Flower

Here is a picture of a flower bush I took a picture of earlier today in my backyard. Hope you like it.

I like it but the petals look a bit...too edited. I love the cropping and the leaves, however. Nice work, and pretty flower I don't know much about reviewing pictures however so don't take my word as the only one, haha.

This is my first time reviewing a photograph... So here goes nothing...
I agree with the above user, the edited photograph looks too edited. I would personally crop the photo a bit on the left side, and leave it alone.
With the original picture, I love it! I like the way the grass in the background is blurred, makes the flower and it leaves stand out well.

I'm not the best photography critique, considering I know hardly anything about it, but I thought I'd drop by and leave a comment.

I have to agree with the previous reviewers. I feel as though you've kind of like over-edited the edited version of the flower. The part in the middle of the flower, I have no idea what it's called... almost looks neon, which I don't really like. The way you've edited it has sort of made the colours of the flower clash a bit. If you ask me, it's made them too bright and a bit too distracting. I'm not saying that you shouldn't edit this, not at all. It's just that sometimes you have to remember that less is more.

Yes! Petals are too dark I think, I think petals should be lighter and you should make background fade. I don't use photoshop much but for fade effect I use Picasa!

Here's a good tip:

When you're using Photoshop, and you want the edited photo to come out looking unedited, just ask yourself whether the colors you're using can be found in nature. Perhaps, is the answer when the question is directred towards the petals. For the center of the petals, I would say no, but you did a very nice job with the step.

Hey, Blue! I'm not very good in photography. I'm more of a traditional artist, but here goes my comment anyway. I really like this picture! I don't have any nitpicks for it whatsoever. I like the colors, speaking of colors, for me, it doesn't look edited. In shock? XD

Hello there, Blue!

To begin, I would like to say that the other reviewers have a nice point - this seems way over-processed/edited. In nature photography, you may want to convey bright colors sometimes, but the "over-edited, pop your eyes out" look is not flattering. If the flower really is that bright in real life (which I doubt), then let that shine through. Don't make it brighter than it is, though - personally, I like to see the more "realistic" and "as it is in real life" nature photo.

Also, photos can appear different on different computers. Do you know why that is? Let me just go ahead and explain. When you edit a photo, you edit it on your laptop and/or computer. It may look different on someone else's technological device, though, depending on whether or not your computer and/or their computers are calibrated. (Meaning that all the colors appear correctly, etcetera).

Personally, I think you also should have zoomed in a bit for this photo. I think you don't need that huge mass of flowers - maybe just one or two in focus, up close, and the others blurred so as to create a wonderful depth of focus in this image. Also, I would like to mention that a part of the flower is out of focus - you seem to try to be focusing on the whole flower, so don't let any part of the flower be unfocused. It throws us off.

And, let me ask you: do you shoot RAW or JPEG? I shoot RAW, and it makes for much easier editing (though it takes time to convert RAW to JPEG).

Thanks for the review, Mizzle, but that was the orginal photo. IThe photo that I edited I took down weks ago. That is what the flower actually looks like-no editing-the only thing I did to it was crop it. And I'm not sure if I used JPEG or RAW.

I think it looks surreal and mystical....I should quite likely frame it on my bedroom wall...and I don't even like pink...

I love the way how its all pink and then you see a little bit of the yellow center! This is like one of those once in a lifetime moments! What kinda of flower is this anyway?
