She hummed happily to herself as she drove the blue sedan up to her little brothers old brick elementary school. She turned off the radio before shutting off the sputtering car and pulling out the black keys. Her little brother, recognizing the blue sedan, jumps down from the red slide on the colorful playground running over to her as she steps out and around the car. His face lights up as she sweeps him into her arms and kisses his glowing cheek.
"Hey Joey, did you miss your big sis?" as she sets him down on the hot pavement, she reaches over with her other arm and opens the back door to the sedan for Joey.
"Of course i missed you Alice, your my favorite big sister every!" he scrambled into the back seat and threw his backpack onto the floor of the car. His hands reached up and grabbed the seat belt pulling it tight across him before he buckled it as Alice slid into the driver's seat starting the car. The automatic door so the back seat slid shut and locked and she carefully pulled the car away from the elementary school. She reached out and turned on a cd of his favorite tunes and smiled fondly looking at the mirror above her to her singing brother in the backseat. His head bobbed making his unruly hair shake everywhere and his hands played out the tunes on a imaginary drum. She laughed to herself as she sang along, smiling at her brother's happy face. She pulled into a empty parking space in the public park and shut off the car.
"Hey!!!!! I was...oh," he stopped and looked out the window, "oh right! you said we were going on a walk in the park today! Thank you, thank you, thank you" Joey unbuckles his seat belt as fast as he can and tugs open the automatic door, racing over to the trails, shouting over his shoulder "Hurry up and catch me!!!!" Alice laughs as she gets out the car and locks the door, putting her keys into her jacket pocket. She rushes after Joey across the uneven parking lot to the cool grass and rock trails leading through the darkening woods.
"Joey," Alice calls out, stumbling over the rocky trail. She didn't remember it being this dark. The sun wasn't suppose to go down for another few hours and even then it was summer, the light didn't fade for another hour after that. "Joey, joey where are you," she trips over a hidden root and falls on her hands and knees, scraping the palms of her hands, "Joey please answer me!" Alice stays where she is for a few moments, trying to gain her breath back and to control her racing heartbeat. Where was her little brother? A tear drops from her eye, she couldn't have lost him, no that couldn't happen, where was he? A scream echoes from ahead of her, near the cliffs at the end of the woods, a malicious laugh soon follows the scream sending shivers down her spine. "JOEY!!!!!" Alice scrambles to her feet running toward the cliff, a horrible sight meets her already clouding eyes. Joey is backed to the edge of the high cliff, a man in front of him creeping forward. Joey's frightened and sickened face tells Alice immediately there is something wrong with this man and it isn't good. "Joey!" Alice calls out hoping to distract the man, it works and the man turns around. Alice lets out a scream, her face turning pale and her hand flies up to her mouth in horror.
