Obama Internet Kill Switch (Updated 06/26/2010)

Don't worry, I figured that it was a joke. If anything, I need to take things more seriously. That's how cool I am.

Seriously though, I don't think you guys should worry all that much about the internet getting shut down. Surely, the president would figure out that, if he did shut the internet down, there would be a lot of complaints. I'm aware that I'm most likely being painfully naive here, but go figure. I know nothing about the American government, or any kind of government in that case, but I may as well say what I think. To be perfectly honest, I can't see it really happening.

This is a bit like the story in the UK to shut off people's internet in terms of pirating. The only problem with something like this is that because democratic nations have got so modernised on the basis of free speech, it'd be very difficult for any government of a democratic country (probably more so the US and Europe) to pass something like this and remain favourable, because after all, they're at the mercy of the public eye.

No. No nononono! *freaking out*! The Pirate Party wouldn't allow this... Sigh... We need a Pirate Party congressman to get into the senate and make some political noise. The internet is the communication gateway for the world. If one person shuts it down... There will be ways around, no doubt. This makes me rethink my ideas for a free public standard in internet access... It would make it easier for the government to shut it all down. Data manipulation is something the government is very good at, after all...

It won't happen anyway, unless the government found a way to do it under everyone's noses.
