Please consider that this is my version of Alice and the Cheshire cat before you review. (:

I drew this as a present for my uncle, and would appreciate any review, good and bad. I would love to improve this, but it would be a little hard because it's all colored pencil. Okay, thanks a bunch!

Neat! Your pencilwork here has a lot of dimension, and you have a very distinctive style!!!

I have always been a person attracted by a certain level of detail, and I am horribly distracted by the quality of work that you have done on her arms and hands! Not because they are poorly done, I just wish you could have included more of them. I think this would be more effective if we could see the hands in their entirety--from what I can see they are masterfully done!

Such a beautiful drawer you are. :)

There's not much I can say criticism wise since it's your own interpretation, but there are two little minor details that are bugging me.

1. That nose, clean it up a bit, it's a little too dark.

2. You need some more definition on her left hand (the one holding the cat).

I love the sweet little smile on her face and the darkness in her cheeks. It makes her look like a porcelain doll wearing rouge.

I feel like such a hypocrite reviewing this because I can't draw worth a dern. lol. :D

Hi there captain.classy! I'm not a genius at art work, but I'll give this a whirl.
I absoltely adore the detail in the hair. But there was something that was disturbing me about her face. At first I thought it was the eyes, but they are just perfect for the character so it isn't that. It seems like her head isn't long enough. And that makes her face seem kinda of disproportionate even though it isn't. Another thing that I noticed is that her nose seems to be turned forward while the rest of her face and features are turn downwards towards the left. It quite makes her nose look broken. Also, I was thinking that maybe her shoulders should be dipped down a little more because it looks a little wonky. But you should just look at it because maybe my perspective is off.

On to Chesie. It's hard for me to distinguish his bottom leg from his tail because they seem just mushed together. His face also looks oddly human and flat. I think his nose should come out a bit more like a cat's nose does. Other than that he's just fine.

Hope I helped! PM me if you have any questions.

Yours,
~Danie

Hello Captain! Arrrg!

I’ll say right off the bat that this Alice is especially cute. The colors are nice and the expression on her face is very sweet and charming. But, and this might seem weird, my favorite part of this picture is actually the hand in the bottom right hand corner. It seems so…real. Alice is lovely.

But your Cheshire Cat seems…dumpy. I know the Cheshire is supposed to be round, but I think he’s almost round the way a baby’s back curves when you hold it kind of round. He, in fact, does look a little too human and his ears seem to be connected wrong.

I guess, what I’m meaning to say is that I love Alice, but your Cheshire looks…uncomfortable to me.

I hope I could sort of kind of help you out!

Hey,

Okay, well, don't take this personally and feel free to shout insults at my lack of artistic talent after you read this.

GOOD:

1. Her hair is amazing. Gosh. It looks like you spent time every strand of hair. Very nice job on the hair.

2. Her hands and arms.

3. Her neck and the shape of her face.

4. The way you wrote Alice and drew the leaves.

Needs some work:

1. Her eyes. I know that Alice doesn't really exist but her eyes are just enormous to the point of creepiness. Why are her eyelashes and lines of her eyes blue? Does she have blue mascara and blue liner on?

2. Her nose. It's very box-like and that's not how noses really look like. The lower part looks like a square, sort of. *eep, sorry*

3. The cat is very human like in the way it is being held by Alice. The eyes of the cat have a streak through the top. I don't understand the point of that. :)

Sorry if that was too harsh. :# I'll shush now. xD

The new Alice in Wonderland was great! Did you see it?

Anyway, I love your Alice! While we can't see all of her hands the suggestion of them is well done. But like lilymoore mentioned your chesire cat is somewhat off. I think I'm mostly bothered by the eyes which I think should be more round and wide. Also the cat's smile doesn't entirely encompass its face like the one from the movie. Here is kind of what I'm imagining it to look like. But if that's not the image you were going for then ignore this. :)

Great job overall!

Hah! The cheshire cat from the Burton Alice in Wonderland is so adorable.

I'm not really sure what I was going for for him. I definitely don't like how I drew the cat, and the above comments are all too right when they say it looks too much like a human.

Thanks so much for the review!

I love this. I don't notice any problems (that others haven't already pointed out.) So, I get to give you compliments!Your style is very distinctive, and I am not going to forget seeing this picture anytime soon. I love the way you seem to have spent time on each hair. I also, love the cat. He is just the way I imagined him when I read the book! Sorry I didn't have any advice.

Nice work here, Classy. :) After watching the latest Alice in Wonderland movie, the Cheshire cat looks odd to me if it isn't blue and dust. :P

You did an excellent job with this, however -- the line work is defined well and clean and the entire piece has familiarity to it. The cat's head does lack a bit of its width, as I remember it, as well as whiskers, so if you could add those, I think it would look a bit more complete. At any rate, you're a good artist, and this is nicely done. :)

I think that this is quite good.. sorry if I critique anything that was intentional for your version of them..

I think that Alice's eyes would look better with darker pupils, and the cat could be improved by filling out his face a bit, and perhaps playing with the stripes a bit, to make them more "bandy" or something I dunno. c:
Like I said, I do think that this is quite good.. love the colors and the strokes. Nice job. :)
