My Photography

The companion thread to "My Drawings"! I figured I've added in plenty of drawings in said thread, but haven't gotten any photography up yet. And I have quite a lot of it! Sooo, here we go! (Warning: There are at least 2/section in this post. O.O)

Hi Gladius! I really liked this photos. I love pictures of water and nature. My only suggestion is taking the first photo from a different angle so we can see light on the water...
My favorites were: Waterfall, Tiger Lily, and Wuthering Winds. These were great!

I like these pictures! Especially the ones of the tree in the storm. And the "truck". You could match that picture with a story or something. Just a thought! The "truck" one made me think a lot, about personally things in my life. It relates to me well in a sense. Anyways back to you! Cool pictures I like the point of view the tractor one is from!

Hi Gladius, these all pictures are so cool and you should try to become a wildlife photographer or something. You really have taken in here. Also, I loved the river photos the most, which is quite likely. Also, I liked the last picture's angle and the thought behind it, if there was any. . You should post some more, definitely

And so is the Tractor! Lol! I love all of them! Did you take the last four from the same day? The RiverBend look like one by my house.

Anyhoo, I thought these were all very well done. I liked numbers 1, 4, 6, 8. First: coloring, lighting, all visually pleasing. Fourth: I liked how... um... it was good. Sixth: the rain just did it for me. How it bounced off the truck, how it colored the background, all great. Eighth: it was abstract, and the angling was superb. Heck, they were ALL superb.

O.O Oh mi gosh! So many comments, haha. Thanks for the lovelies, everyone! ^_^ I'll upload more photos in just a second.

Moon 1: This was alright, as your composition followed the rule of thirds (which is dividing the picture into thirds horizontally and vertically and line up a focus point of an image with the cross-points), but the moon is just a fuzzy spot. The picture is just so black that I skimmed over it.

Moon 2: Better, as we can see some details around the moon, but those details hint at so much more going on in the picture that the blackness just overwhelms the picture. The composition also wasn't the best in that the moon was more centred instead of off to the side (see rule of thirds above)

Penned Shi-Tzu: Again, very dark. It took me a minute to be able to find the shi-tzu. Again, no real composition here from an art perspective. Had the dog been a bit more to the right, so there was less dead space behind him, and it looked more like he wanted out, this picture would have been a bit better.

Fireworks: Doesn't show up.

Dragon sparkler: Now things start to get interesting. This photo is well-composed, and it held my attention very nicely. The colours are beautiful, and I love how blurred everything is.

Phoenix sparkler: A little blah after the dragon sparkler picture, heh. I know it's hard to capture sparks like that, but had we seen a bit more of the offshoots towards the right the picture would have felt more complete, I find. The focus also feels pretty centred, so a little shift to the right would have done some good, I think.

These are some wonderful pictures! I want to comment on the second set. I love the little penned Shi-Tzu, even though it kind of makes me sad. Personally, I think the cropped picture looks better, because you don't have all of that blurriness. It seems like you had a lot of fun making these pictures.

The nature pictures are just gorgeous, except I'm not really sure what the first one is. They remind of the area I live in! It's very green and I see these kind of places all of the time, but they never get old. Wonderful job with the pictures!

Awesome job! I liked the photos showing the river. You should be a photographer! Keep on going!

Just a bit! Had you kept the full "halo" around the whole thing then it would have been better positioned on the page (it goes to somebody's hand and a little past it). So the vertical cropping was just a bit too narrow.

'lo there! I'll be reviewing all your photos on here, so I'll go by set. ^^

First Set-

Waterfall: The colors in this are fantastic, but the picture itself seems a bit busy. There's a lot of minor details in this that could be blurred out to give the photo some focus. Also, your angle seems a head head-on, which takes away from the whole effect I think you were going for.

Riverbend: Again with the head-on shot. Try varying up the angle of the photo - crouch down low, or try to find some high point. Try different things until you get it to where you like it. That aside, this picture seems too bright, which mutes out a lot of the color potential you could have. I realize you can't really control the sunlight, or move the trees to block it out, but if you're not opposed to editing photos, you could add a bit of contrast to the photo and perhaps bring the brightness down a bit.

Battered Bloom: I really like the story you tell with this photo. The title fits it perfectly. The clarity, focus, and coloring of this one is nice as well. My only problem with this one is the placement of the subject. Maybe crop it to make it a little off-center, and I think it would help.

Portrait of a Tiger Lily: Crop, crop, crop! You've got something oddly colored and blurry in the bottom right corner of the picture that needs to go. The colors in this one are good - I like the vibrant green of the leaves coupled with the softer pink tones of the flower.

Wuthering Winds: Hmm. I'm kinda 50/50 on this one. I like the motion of the picture, as I can almost see the tree swaying in the wind. However, for some reason, this picture bugs me, and I can't exactly place why. Maybe it's the monotonous background with such a bright color as your subject. I'm not sure.

Truck: This one, I think would look better if you got closer to the truck, so that we could see the splashes the raindrops caused on the top of the truck, or the streaks and droplets on the windows. As it is, it's a rather dull photo. :/

Post-Bellum: I think this one and Battered Blossom tie for my favorite in this set. I don't really have anything constructive to say about this one. I just like it. ^^

Tractor: Unique angle, and odd focus. I like it. I don't really have anything to say about this one, either.

Second Set-

Moon #1: I like this photo for its simplicity. It's hard capturing the moon in pictures without it coming out blurry - did you use a tripod? I think you could crop this one a bit so that there isn't so much black in the photo, but other than that it's good.

Moon #2: See above comment. Also, with this one, I really like how you have some silhouettes. It really gives the photo some perspective.

Penned Shi-Tzu: The lighting in this one is good for the most part. It would be better if we could see the dog a bit more clearly. The picture itself is busy, and at first glance I couldn't tell what exactly it was. Then I saw the title, and that's when I understood. I think a closer view of the dog would have been better. As it is, this picture doesn't really stand out to me.

Dragon Sparkler: This one is cool. It's hard to tell what it is, but unlike the above picture, that actually adds to this one. I feel like this one is so abstract that there really isn't much for me to critique. I like the coloring, and love the light being given off from the sparkler.

Phoenix Sparkler: I really like this one too. The smoke in the background looks cool, and the light from the sparkler is awesome, I must say. Not really anything to critique on this one, either.

Overall, these were pretty good. You've got potential, and I'd love to see some more pictures from you in the future!
