The Sunset - Saying Goodbye or Symbol of Progress

A sunset can mean many things from the end of a working day to the start of your favourite, and sometimes cheesy, cable television program. What does a sunset mean to you? Just as humans can work the dayshift or nightshift, so too does the sky provide us with entertainment from the Sun rising again in the morning, to the Moon taking its spot at night.

Question:

What does a sunset mean to you?

This is an ok photo, but it looks too dark. To be honest i can't see a sun here, just a big cloud. It looks so depressing, i know that wasn't your aim... or was it? But this is just so unlike a sunset, i would picture a sunset as something orange, red and yellow. It's also out of focus, i bet you could take better photo's. I'm sorry that i don't like this. and the light in the bottom right, that's distracting... did you by any chance take a photo of it on paper or something? or on a screen?

The idea you were going for here is wonderful, but I think your execution is off.

The thing is, most of the time, when people look at an image of a sunset, they want to see a purely miraculous one...this one just wasn't the right sunset I don't think. Another problem is that the photo is really dark. There are some great photoshop programs available online and for download (I use GIMP) that can be used for lightening a photo and darkening and doing billions of other things. It would have even been cool to really see the city lights stand out.
And then there's the smudge on the picture. It's overwhelmingly distracting for me and I couldn't even really check out the sunset.

So wait for a better sunset. You're picture will likely look a billion times better.

I have changed the photo from a plane taking off in the sunset, to an actual sunset I captured after a rainy day in the summer of "09". Thank you for your comments and keep sending them in.

I really like the picture, and I will answer your question through a poem:

To me the sunset signifies
A chance for something new.
Like fresh washed hands, dried on a shirt.
or the morning grass, soaked with dew.

not my best poem, but that's what a sunset is to me.

It's too blurry, but I believe it's just because of the cam that you used. What the sunset means to me? It means a lot of things--sometimes even opposite. It can be a romantic scene, or a death of someone. I used it as a symbol in all of my long creative writings. LOL
