I like writing (obviously!), photography and video editing, along with other things. My specialty is novels/novellas, but I write short stories occasionally. I'm trying to learn French. I'm also really really shy around strangers, but once you get to know me I'm much more lively, I swear!

Not necessarily, Vas. That may be true for members like me who have been around for awhile, but certainly not for Bells here. She only joined yesterday!

Anyways *ahem*, how are you? Are you liking the site so far? I know it can be a little confusing at first, but you'll soon feel at home here among your fellow writers!

There, that should do the trick! If you don't know what to say, it's almost always a certainty that someone else knows.

The Information Desk: I've said this so many times today that I sound like a broken record, but this is an important forum! Here, Nate, our site administrator, will post all kinds of topics concerning possible changes to YWS so that you can get a heads up and leave feedback for him. Even new members like yourself have something to say, and sometimes Nate needs the opinions of new members specifically, so don't be shy to head over there and leave some comments! Just be careful to check the dates of the posts, because you don't want to accidentally comment on something that's a year old.

Questions and Answers: This forum is for anyone to post questions having anything to do with YWS that they may be having trouble with (i.e. "How do I post a reply?"), and someone who knows the answer will get back to you as soon as they can. It's a great thing to do, especially when you're starting out.

All Forums and Community Forums: All Forums is a quick way to head straight on over to a specific area such as the Poetry sections or Fiction sections. There, you can find the Lounge, which is just a catch-all forum where members can talk about pretty much everything. Very similar to that is Community Forums, which displays all of those things, but also other, smaller forums that branch off of the bigger ones (called subforums). For example, a subforum of the Lounge is Contests, and a subforum of Randomness is Word Play.

Blogs: This is a zone for every member to come and rant/rave about anything--literally anything! When you become a member, you automatically get a blog of your own, where you can post anything you want to, be it short story excerpts, discussions about your life, favorite music...anything! In turn, others can comment on your blog, and if you're lucky, it just might become the Hot Post of the Day!

Anywho, I think this is enough info to get you started at least. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any questions or doubts. I love helping!

I'm the same way when it comes to writing, I prefer the novel/novella over the short story. I find it hard to contain myself to a short story.

What type of fiction do you like to write? Fantasy? Romantic? Historical? Science Fiction?

That's really neat that you're learning French. I want to learn so bad!
