Hi Guys,

This is something I drew in science class today with the only writing utensil available: a purple pen. I do ballet and this is a pose called attitude derriere. Sorry about the print showing through--I drew this on the back of my "Refuting an Argument" paper from english class. Enjoy!

Hey sarebear, KD here to review. I do ballet too! :) Haha, at first I didn't notice the text showing through the paper of your drawing. Well, anyways...

Things I Like/Things You Did Well On:

-Nice hair!
-Love how her head is tilted a bit to the right, very realistic.
-A+ on the tutu. You captured the fluffiness perfectly.
-Nice job with the pointe shoes! From experience, I know they're pretty hard to draw well.
-Lol, I like how you did in purple pen, anyways. Strangely, it suits the drawing well!

Things I Didn't Like/Things You Need To Work On:

-Proportions, proportions, proportions. Measure! :D Her torso is much too long. (Below) The torso should end at the black line. Her left leg is also shorter than the right; yes, those seemingly little things are noticeable! Both hands are not the same size. And is she anorexic? Her body parts are a bit too thin.
-Stiffness! This girl is unrealistically stiff. As you probably know, in ballet people's arms are rounded, gentle.
-You give the impression that her right arm is sticking straight out to the side, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be in front of her.
-Oh where, oh where did her shoulders go? This is what her shoulders should look like.
-Last thing: see the red line (below)? If a ballerina was really in this position, she would fall over. She has to be right over her pointe shoe.

Overall:

This needs some work, but overall, I can say that this is nice. Try copying real dancers. It would help you a ton!
Hope I helped, and definitely keep on drawing-

KD

Wow! This is really good! Doesn't derriere mean behind in french? I love how you can really see all the texture! Especially in the skirt and hair! The shading on the legs and arms are really good as well! I'm not going to critique you very hard since you drew this with limited supplies in science class. I wish i could draw this well.

Hey, well its overall a good picture but it could use some work like said before the proportions are off but I do admire you for using pen I am deathly afraid of drawing with pen. Your shading is good and really brings out the skirt, I also like how you brought out some of the back muscles with simple lines. Its a great start and you should definitely continue to draw.

This is really good! I don't know why, but I love that you did it in purple. :) I think this was mentioned already, but work on your proportions. That's something really hard to ger, and depending on who you are finding the right method can be difficult. Sometimes putting it in grid-form can help, while at other times comparing it to another human figure can help. Either way, really well-drawn.

Hi SaraBear.

I liked this attempt of your at drawing. Did you use pen for sketching or something else?

Things you should probably work on:
 Since I design myself so I would comment that the dress had two flaws. One, that usually the dresses or rather costumes of the ballet dancers are short so as to provide easy movement. And then second, if you're making the neck too deep at the back then curve it a bit. That way it would look more sophisticated and real.
 then other thing is with her waist. You should shape it a bit. Give a curved look like all girls have. A curvy body. Not much but just a bit.
 And also, her hands and shoulders looked to me like that of an old lady. So work out on that.
 I don't know much about ballet but definitely her left hand should be a bit more leveled to her shoulder(a bit upwards).

What I liked:
:P Definitely, the use of colour purple. Its not exactly purple but yeah a beautiful rose pink purple which I loved!
:P You managed to draw the pose pretty well except for the left hand.
:P Her hairstyle was perfect and so sweet. it was the most neat thing apart form the flais in her frock.

You have to work on some points but other than that it was nice.
ALL THE BEST!
