Hello friends, this is just a a small sketch I had hidden in my notebook that I wanted to share. This is my first post on Young Writer's Society, and I would greatly appreciate your comments and constructive criticism. Thank You!
Hi! My favorite part of this sketch is the body. You do an incredible job of portraying emotions through the way in which the shoulders are held and the hands in the pockets, which I think is really cool. My one complaint, however, is about the face. I feel that the lines are too hard, especially around the mouth and the nose. Its not that I object to the face, which is interesting in its own right, but I think that there is a disconnect between the body and the face. Other than that, however, I love the way that you convey emotions through the body language and I think that this is a cool sketch.
Tee hee, look, she has my hips! She's a pear, and you still made her look good! For that, I bow to you.
Okay, since I know people who have that face and others who have that body, I think I can critique this. That's also the main problem I see. I know people with that face, and other people with that body. Her face says she weighs seventy pounds, while her body says a hundred and seventy. I know you were trying to portray the emotion, which you did a magnificent job of, but this is keeping it from being... graspable.
I don't personally think that the lines on her face are too dark, I just think there are too many of them. The ones between her mouth and her nose, and between her mouth and her chin, crowd out her face. Yes, they're there in real life, but this is more of a cartoon. I don't think it adds the tired wrinkles you were going for, if that's what you were going for.
The coloring on her clothes is really good. And so are the wrinkles in her shirt. I would have liked a few more wrinkles in her clothes, because from experience I know that when you find pants that really fit one's wide hips, they tend to made for thick legs and so a little baggy the rest of the way down.
And nice job on her chest. I hate it when people stick bowling balls on womens' chests when they draw them. Here, it looks like she's overweight, not like she's trying to be sexy. That's as descriptive as I can chemically get. It's good.
Her hair and hands are great. All I can say.
Overall: You are a very good artist. The only reason my critique was so long is because nothing's perfect. I honestly wish I could draw like this. It conveys exhaustion perfectly, and that being your main focus, you did it. Wonderful job, and I hope you post more here so I... we can see it!
Don't stop!

fun fact i hear my evil twin once wrote a story about a hacker who used the name fyshi33k bc there are 33k-ish species of fish and she liked phishing so fyshi-33k made sense but then she got super embarrassed when someone forced her to explain — VyperShadow
