Before you read this, to be completely honest I hate it. Not the story, the plot, nothing like that. Just the writing. I think it's awful. I think I've done better. I don't think I've done much worse. I don't know if it's me forcing myself to write during writers block, or what. Regardless, this sucks. I personally think this portion of the story for me needs to be done after I have the rest of the story already written. I just know where it's going but this doesn't get me there so I'll fix minor stuff but the major changes will come after the book is DONE. So, let the trashing begin!
Also, the book is being done according to "Scenes" or different periods where I think a title should go to express a thought of what you're about to read. I don't like chapters, they irk me. So I'm doing this. Tell me your opinion!

What We Are
"Jake Thompson!"
A booming voice awoke him, throwing him from his desk and into the floor. His arm pulled the book lying on his desk down with him, which landed on his head.
Looking up he saw the face of his teacher Miss Norberry. Her thin clear glasses barley hanging from the top of her pointy nose, gray hair stiff and motionless in a bun atop her head.
She wore her usual attire, something old and colorless, always a dress. He lifted the book off his head and stood up.
"Finally you decide to join us. Now get back in your seat." The other students chuckled and gave him a condescending look. He slowly made his way to his desk, and sat down.
"Now, while you were taking a nap we were busy discussing the different power branches of our planets god, would you care to
name all of them for me Jake along with his name and origin?"
"Yes Miss Norberry." Jake stood up and began to speak as if he were reading from a book. "Situs, the God of Knowledge and Kindness, created Lucidon, the great planet we live on, after the Battle of Gods almost 5000 years ago. When a child is presented to him it may receive one of five power branches. Telekensis is the most common, followed by Mass Manipulation, Illusionist, Barrier Masters, and Matter Protean. Valhal, the only Saefer to ever exist, could use all of these abilities."
"Thank you Jake, but that last part won't get you extra credit. I know of your fascination with Valhal and being a Saefer."
Jake sat down, as to ignore the statement she made. The bell rang sounding school was over for the day.
"Everyone enjoy The Lasting, but don't slack on your homework during the break."
His First Regret
Jake walked out of class and leaned up against the silver halls. He looked around. Gala Academy was a huge school, and
the only one in Lucidon for Specials. It was a circular building, large on the top and pen point thin on the bottom. The anti-gravity systems kept the school from spinning like a top and falling over. Elevators went to every floor from the outer most edge of the circle on a platform surrounding it and to the port where students kept their Cycles, small high-tech motorcycle type vehicles.
Cycles were small and compact, humans are the only race to have them. They resemble a bicycle at first but stand straight without the need of a kick-stand. When the rider sits down and pushes the gas peddle, which looks like a bicycle peddle, the Cycle suddenly shows it's true colors. All the thin bicycle bars are encased into a larger black bars, the engine roars which is hidden under the seat. The front grows larger, beginning to look like a motorcycle, providing a shield of glass over the front.
When the transformation is finished the rider is sealed inside, the bike automatically providing a helmet. The small wheels are now large tires, which have turned sideways and now act as the engine for the bike. Jake was lucky enough to have one of these. Gala Academy members were given one upon receiving their driving permit at age seventeen. Most non-academy members did not have one because of how expensive they were.
Jake got off the elevator and headed toward his Cycle. When he was only a few feet away he saw a boy in a Academy uniform checking out his Cycle.
"Excuse me, can I help you with something?" Jake asked confused. The boy turned around, his bronze hair covering up his eyes. He swiped his hair to the side, and answer nervously.
"Oh uh, I was just checking out your Cycle! It's uh not like the others is it?"
"You right, it's the newer version of the Cycle. The only one like it. Were you trying to steal it?"
"Of course not!" His blue eyes shot open, as he nervously waved his hands. "I was simply curious!"
"It's all right, calm down I was only kidding." Jake had a relieving smile on his face.
"I'm sorry, I'm new here so I don't think we've meet. My real name is Regal Den Keg Grog, but you can call me Regal."
"That's...quite the name you have." Jake gave him a odd look.
"I was born on Lemora, you know how the feather people like to give their kids crazy names. Even though I am not mutli-race, 100% human."
"That was my second question, why are you here at Gala Academy if you weren't born here?"
"You see, even though I was presented and became a special on Lemora, I for some reason am a Barrier Master."
"That doesn't make sense, Lemora's power branch doesn't include Barrier Master."
"I know, though it's not like it's impossible. Still, the council ordered me to come to school here where their were other Barrier Masters as to 'not disturb the peace of Lemora'."
"Well, it's nice to meet you I am Jake Riley Thompson."
"You've got quite the name yourself Jake." They both laughed. It was natural. The beginning of an friendship that would last a very long time.
"Sorry but I've got to head home but I'll see you soon I guess. Are you coming to The Lasting festival?"
"I didn't plan too." Regal gave a pitiful face, as if to imply something.
"Well you should. You're new here and The Lasting is something everyone on Lucidon looks forward too."
"Yea, I think I'll go then. Thanks Jake." Regal moved away from the Cycle, and Jake took off toward home.
What It Was Like Before...
Jake is an average sized kid. He has short black hair that was never styled, and bright green eyes. His dad works for the company who invented the Cycles, Destiny Corp, so Jake always gets to try out new gadgets they invent. I was always so jealous of him for that. The thing I wasn't jealous of was the fact Jake had no abilities yet. Most people who came to the academy already had discovered their ability or did not long after. The teachers had tried everything to make his powers manifest but they just wouldn't.
Jake arrived at his monstrous home. It was half the size of the school, and the school is huge. He promised it wasn't as big as it looked, I think he was lying. He parked his Cycle in the usual spot and walked inside to greet his mother who was preparing supper.
"Hey mom." Jake put his stuff down on the couch as he passed it and walked into the living room. The house was decorated very wild. Many different color walls that matched the furniture on each side. I think she called it Fung Shui.
"Jake are you staying for supper today?" His mother looked nothing like him. She had long blond hair and blue eyes and always looked like she came straight out of an 80's TV show.
"No, I'm thought we were going to The Lasting Festival?"
"I am throwing a party here hun, are you staying?"
"No, I think I'm going to meet some kids from school down at the Plaza. Thanks though."
"All right, but he back before midnight please. Your father has some new gizmo he wants you to try out."
"Yes ma'am." Jake rushed upstairs and got ready for the festival. As you'd expect he always dressed cool, even though none of the other kids saw him that way. I guess being rich and good looking doesn't do you much good if you have no powers in a school full of Specials.
Jake was late for once in his life. Everyone was gather at the Plaza for the beginning of The Lasting. The ceremony had already begun as the Minster of Lucidon was presenting the start of The Lasting. It was almost embarrassing to call him my best friend when he road down into the middle of the crowd on his Cycle during the speech. I hit him.
"Jake!" I made the worst face I could as I stared him down from afar.
"Rhea, sorry I'm late."
"Sorry your late? How about sorry for landing your Cycle into a giant crowd of people during the most notorious, grand, important festival of the year!" I punched his shoulder as hard as I could, not doing much to his far more muscular arm.
"Ow". He held his shoulder pretending to be in pain. "Look I'm sorry, my mom kept nagging me about being home on time and she wouldn't let me leave."
"Ahh, whatever. I forgive you. Now shut up and listen because the Minister is almost done with his speech." We turned around and faced the stage. The Minister of Lucidon, the most powerful man on the planet. He rules along with his council who were the law and the Executioners. We listened as the speech neared it's end, and the worst Lasting Lucidon had ever seen was about to begin.
