Sometimes life hands you things
That you don’t want to hold ,
But they say you must go on, strive forth,
Go into the world and be bold.
What do you do, though, when you can’t keep a smile?
To where do you go when nothing’s worthwhile?
As you lie on the bed, staring at the ceiling,
Wishing at least, to have some type of feeling
Other than this, anything but the black hole
Turning inside you, slicing through soul.
Warm tears don’t even come
To ease the heavy pain ;
They say you’ve used much too many
They are never coming again.
Laying there on the sheets with an empty expression
Avoiding all thoughts of the suicidal depression.
Legs curled into your chest so tight;
Maybe, go away, the pain just might;
Let it burn away and wither apart
Just like what happened
To your once beautiful heart.
