Giving the wrench one last good turn to the right the pipe came lose and fell to the bottom of the cabinet. Greg Porter leaned back with a sigh of relief, he'd been working on the pipe problem for an hour now.
Greg glanced at the clock that was hung next to the kitchen window. 11:56pm, his parents should have been home by now. Trying not to think about the fact that he was the only one at home at this hour, Greg turned back to fixing the sink.
"I'm fourteen, why should I be worried." Greg told himself try to calm his nerves. But, just as the words slipped from his mouth the kitchen light blub blew out. "This can't be happening to me!"
Standing up Greg turn on the flashlight he had been using while fixing the sink. Everything seemed so different, looking at it through the small bit of light the flashlight gave off. He ran the light across the counter, to the sink, across the wall, to the clock.
Then just as he was about to leave the room his eye froze to the window. There standing just outside was a dark figure staring into the room! Greg's blood ran cold, he could not get himself to move. Suddenly the figure moved from the window going to the back of the house.
Greg snapped out of his trance, "It's probably just one of the neighbor kids trying to scare me." He said getting mad. "Well they're not getting the best of me!" He exclaimed heading for the front door.
Once outside he ran around the house on the opposite side then the figure was on, hoping to cut them off. Just as he reached the back he came to a stop, the figure was standing in the middle of the yard waiting for him. "I've got you now!" Greg said catching his breath he walked toward him the figure he noticed that he was no taller then him so it had to be a kid.
He stopped in front of the kid, Just as he was about to tell him to get lost a rough voice came from behind him repeating his words, "I've got you now!" No soon was the words been spoken then a sharp object was injected into the back of Greg's neck, causing his body to go numb and fall forward. As he did so, he fell onto the kid in font of him. Looking up kids face came into focus, Greg was looking into his own face!
"Hello Greg, we're going to have a little chat." his own voice said coming from the kid. Slowly the world darken as Greg fall in the ground.

Wait, I'm having childhood flashbacks...what happened to righty tighty-lefty loosey? :P

Bulb ;).

This is the kind of thing that really creeps me out, even thinking about, so why, if he doesn't know who it is, or what they want, just runs after them the way he does? It's a little weird.

Lies. I'm a girl and I'm taller then a lot of adults I know. It doesn't have to be a kid, he just assumes it is :P.

"Fell," and "Darkened". It sounds a little strange though, don't you think...Darkened...maybe try another word?

Hi!

OK, so I'm not really in the nit-picking mood. But BondGirl, I was thinking that as I read. Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. Other than that, I really liked it. I want to know what happens next. If you find a reader thinking that, you've done your job at least fairly well.

Mind PMing me when part 2 is done? Thanks!

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
