The moon glows softly outside my bedroom window. Stars dance through the sky and soft, white light shines through my room.
I sink to the floor. The light illuminates the blue veins on my inner wrist. I slash them with the razorblade and blood pools into my hand.
Pain sears through my arm and I shove the razor back into its case. I don’t even have to scream in pain anymore. I’ve gotten that good.
I clean my hand and I claw my way up onto my bed. I burrow deep underneath my purple comforter and drift into a sleep filled with monsters and witches.
So far today I am 421 calories. I am standing on Weight Goal Number One. Next goal: 400 calories.
I don’t know how to achieve that goal though. I need to restrict enough food to lose weight, but I have to eat enough to fool Mom… and the drama girls.
When lunchtime comes, I flash my cute smile at Jenna and the other girls. I sit down at the table with my bowl of strawberries. The girls talk excitedly and I force two strawberries into my stomach, just two.
“I have to…” I whisper. I scramble towards doors of the cafeteria and run into an empty bathroom stall.
My scarred finger fishes down my throat and up comes the strawberries. Seconds later, spots begin to swim in front of my eyes and the sounds of life feels like they are a million miles away.
The edges of my vision blur for a split second, and everything goes black.
