Hi everyone!:D

I'm new to the sight and just wanted to say my hello's. I am a 16 year old living in the south of Ireland. My hobbies include reading, music , writing as of recently and refusing to achieve my potential. I like to blame my mistakes on over romanticism and my sole literary ambition is to write one good novel, then retire to my hut in the desert, assume the lotus position, compose my mind and senses, and sink into meditation, contemplating my novel.

I look forward to getting to know the community and what-not.

OisinBebe.

Welcome to YWS OisinBebe! It's great to have you!

One good novel. That sounds like a great ambition, and one that YWS will certainly help you achieve! What genre do you like to write? Have you attempted a novel before? Do you write any short stories? What kind of music do you like to listen to? What's your favorite color?

I hope you enjoy your time here at YWS! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Welcome!
You shouldn't have any trouble reaching any writing goals on this site. :)
What do you like to read and write? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Non-fiction?
The South of Ireland? Sounds fun! I've always want to visit Ireland. It gets kind of boring where I'm at.
Anyways, yeah, welcome! :smt003

Hey there, Ozzy! (You don't mind, do you?)
Anyways, have you ever heard of NaNoWriMo? It's a contest in November to write a full-length nove (500,000 words - 30 days). If you tried it, I'm sure you could manage a novel. Just go to Nanowrimo.com and there's even a forum for it here on YWS!

NaNoWriMo is actually only 50, 000 words. Probably just a typo.

Meditation is good, but I find the lotus position to be quite uncomfortable. Anyway, I'm sure if you're a true writer you won't be able to do that. The call to write will bring you back to do more than one novel. I myself can't go more than a few months without writing or I get all cranky.

Anyhow, have a happy time here on YWS. We'll help you write that one novel (and the other ones that you'll write because you just have to keep coming back for more).
Q: Where do you go to buy shoes?

A: At the shoez canal, lol.

Hi Lauren! Seeing as it's mainly Fantasy and Science Fiction novels that I read that's the genre I feel most comfortable writing. I've heard somewhere that it's extremely bad practice to read Fantasy novels if your attempting to write within the genre though, I think Raymond E. Feist said that actually :s I attempted a novel once before when I was something like 12, I didn't get very far :P The reason that I joined this sight actually was to spur me into submitting a short story for a local competition. It's my first real effort at writing seriously outside school. I've uploaded the first section of this story already and any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated! My favourite colour is green! :)

Hi Lauren! :) Ah it's really not as exciting as it might sound, why do you thing I'm writing? :P I'm straining at the leash here, I cant wait to get out of this country and do a bit of travelling. Not that I don't love Ireland, I do, and it's a place that's definately worth visiting at least once. :D

Hey Jenthura! Not at all, whatever works :) Thanks for the heads up, I checked out the site. It looks great! My main goal at the moment however, is to complete and submit a fantasy short story for a national competition. So I'll probably knuckle down on that before I attempt the daunting prospect of 50,000 words. :L

Howdy Rune! You're gonna hate me for saying this but I honestly will listen to anything at all depending on what mood I'm in. If I had to pick a genre or two though I'd have to say- as a clarinetist- jazz and indie/folk. On the other side of the spectrum I wouldn't be past listening to some electronic music and a generic pop song under the right circumstances. :L How about you? What kind of music do you listen to?

Hiya Crescent!
Aha I was waiting for the subject of leprachauns to be brought up :P You'd be surprised how many people you see walking around in Ireland that remind you of leprachauns :) As far as I know the word "leprachaun" actually stems from the name of the old Celtic God "Lámhfhada" meaning "Long-arm". It is thought that the Saxons or maybe some other invaders warped the the name of the god into "Leprachaun" (or something like Leprachaun) and created the idea that this "Leprachaun" was a tiny, weakling, thief of a man- not to be trusted- in an attempt to discredit the greatest Celtic God.

Now arent you sorry you asked? :P

No, not particularly. I thought leperchauns were tiny little people that go around pinching people on St. Patrick's day if they don't wear green xP That's interesting. Did Lamhfhada have really long arms?

That could be complete rubbish by the way. It's just something that I think I may have read somewhere at an unspecified date and in a quite possibly questionable state, it's pretty amazing the random stuff that can come out of nowhere. I had to look up the name of the god though, his other name is Lugh :) Hmm no I think that's just an excuse to give unpatriotic people a hard time. I'm not sure I haven't met him, I think he was just a badass generally :P
