A friend of mine (for no apparent reason) asked for a birthday gift. A picture of a mushroom.
Naturally, I got carried away with it all and drew several mushrooms.
Naturally, I gave her only one.
Naturally, I kept the best for you guys.
Enjoy.

Okay. Okaaaaay. Okaythisiscrazy! How do you do it? These are awesome! I have yet to see a sucky drawing by you. :D

#1: I love the little details, like the white things stuck to the mushroom itself. It's very realistic.

#2: Still like it (not sure about the rainbow shroom), but it feels a little singular, somewhat, like that is all there is. I wish there was some background to support the subject itself. :/

#3: That's definitely the one you should have given her. It rocks. Even the steps leading up to it are mushroomy.

#4: This one looks more like a tree than a mushroom, but hey. It's still great.

#5: Awesome! It reminds me of the Spiderwick Chronicles.

#6: Another realistic-looking one.

#7: It's the Avatar Home Tree! Haha! It's great. The water looks like it's actually moving.

#8: This is my favorite one, I think. It has so much awesome details that I like. :D

So yeah, great work. I still want to know when you post more! :D

P.S. I want to see some stuff by you that's more...epic, I guess. Something that has a massive story behind it. I don't know. 0.o

P.P.S. When I write a book, will you illustrate it for me? :P

Hey there :)

Now this is my kind of artwork! Mushrooms remind me of Mario, they are great!

Anyway, onto the review! Don't take my critique too seriously; I'm pretty bad when it comes to reviewing art. But yeah, I'm cool. K? My favourite drawing is definitely the one with the plant pot that says 'Shroom' on it. I mostly like the idea itself. It's simple, but I love it!

I agree with Knightely on the fourth one; it kind of looks more like a tree than a mushroom. I think that was what you were kind of going for though, no? Although, I think it's mostly because of the fact that it's green.

Well that's basically it! Sorry I haven't been helpful, I just thought I'd drop by and comment on this because I liked it so much!

Keep drawing,

xoxo Skins

wow! these are all so very good! Your style is fun and quirky and the colours are bright and colourful. i have to say you're very good at art. Ace in fact. You drawing style reminds me of doctor seuss, and he's pretty amazing! the first mushroom is my favourite, it's full of life and colours and it draws my attention to it straight away. I'm not much of a reviewer, but this is really good!

Keep drawing!

Badger badger badger badger......

Love these! They're really pretty! I wasn't a huge fan of the fifth and seventh ones, but all the others were brilliant. Good job!

These are great, Jen! I wish I had amazing artist friends who drew pictures for me. :P

My favorite one is probably the first one, with the big purple mushroom and the spotty mushroom and the rocks underneath. The colors are great. I also really really like the little house mushroom. It's so cute! This really brightened up my night. Thanks for posting. :D

Wow! I posted this last night, and now I log on this morning to find it full of comments and already in the Featured list.
If any of you guys are wondering, I used that famous ink pen, but this time I used colored pencils, an expensive type that you can paint to blend colors. The very first one (the title image) looks really great close up, so I'll have to re-scan it and post it bigger, maybe.
Oh, and only recently did I start making that sort of mushroom realistically. I used to draw white circles (like in Mario) instead of little lumps (which it actually is.)

Just commenting to say I love these, especially number 3. Numbers 4 and 7 are also much loved, and the first one is just plain awesome. These expensive colored pencils you mentioned, they wouldn't happen to be Prang? I love Prang pencils, and if you dip the tips in water, you can paint with them, like you described, but they're so hard to find. D:

Actually, Kyllorac, they're "Karan Dáche", a French brand. And I don't dip the tips in water, I draw with them, and then use a wet brush afterward (This helps when I choose to mix colors. In the title picture, for example, I mixed black, brown and tiny bit of yellow to make a cream-colored hue). I have, however, licked the tips just to make a few slightly darker strokes.

Dang, Jenth!

You keep amazing me with your skillz. SO, a few comments from moi.

#1. Well, this could have had a little more colour. Just a little of something happier as it was a birthday gift. (But, it's my perception anyway.)

#6. Well, hat's pretty. It just struck me that you could try making nymph-like mushroom people who dance and have a frilly skirt like thing.

#7. There's something about this which I don't like. I mean, technique-wise this is very good, but as far as visual appeal goes, this scores low.

The rest are just too awesome Jenth.

Cheers,
~Lava

I love these, there isn't much I can say about any of them, but the one before the last one really doesn'tlook like a shroom it looks like a tree.
