Two separate poems I wrote in one of my journals sitting around. Hope you like it. :)

The Backyard
-It breathes.
I feel blades of grass in betweeen my toes, the morning dew evaporating into the air that never seems to be there.
The wind slowly blows my hair from side to side.
It whispers into my ears haunting lullabies that fade away with every gust.
I lay on my back and look up at Mother Earth's newest painting, splashed with vivid blues and creamy whites.
I hear the ground under me, and it slowly breathes:
In and out,
In,
Out,
In,
Out.
I close my eyes as the Earth and my backyard slowly sing their enchanting melodies.

Heat
Heat.
Startling heat.
Warm, suffocating heat.
It surrounds me: heat.
That type of dry heat.
I'm being trapped by the heat.
It's like I'm drowning, but in heat.
I'm surviving, but you can't fight the heat.
Rapidly, it covers me in a blanket of heat.
Slowly, my life is flashing before my eyes, heat.
Can you feel it encompass you, taking you in heat?
You can't deny it, it is there, the heat.
A wrestling match between you and heat.
Gently fading, heart is racing, heat.
Get away from the heat!
I must surrender heat.
You win, heat.
Winner...heat.
Heat.

Apple of my soul,
Eats me whole,
Take one bite,
No delight,
Rotting hole.

Firstly, Yes! Another Wonderland wanderer!
Secondly,I loved the first Poem. It was very descriptive and brings a lot to mind.
Thirdly, I liked your second poem but it was very repetitive. Find other words that heat to describe what you mean.
IE:
JaneThermopolis wrote:It's like I'm drowning, but in heat.

Try
Its like I'm drowning,
In a never ending fire.
Try to mix things up a bit. Hope this helps!

Try smiling in the rain. When you are sad. It's harder than it looks.

I would mix things up but I tried to make each line of the poem end in the word 'heat.'
Apple of my soul,
Eats me whole,
Take one bite,
No delight,
Rotting hole.

Apple of my soul,
Eats me whole,
