Super Hero Tea Party

I just finished this painting not to long ago for a friend's birthday party. Thoughts, Comments?

Well Hello there. My name is Fixed.

I think that, for a painting, it's better than I could do. But I still have pointers.



Red: The neck is too thick. It makes him look to stressed and unrealistic.

Yellow: His legs are thin, almost like he's a paraplegic.

Orange-ish: I love how you've tried to give an effect to their dresses, but I can't tell where their legs are. More emphasis is needed where she crosses her legs, so they're not blobs. Of leg-ness.

Light blue: The couch. I don't know how it's formed, what angle it's at, how it's supposed to be sat upon. I need some saping to this, just around the edges so I know where it's bending and how they're sitting.

Purple: I've shaded in where I should see the chair. She's sitting at an angle, so I understand the need for a draping of a dress, but there's still a little bit of chair that needs to be seen. Right now, all I can see is a mirror-type thing. So, add another leg in the back, and one in the front. Where there's purple drawn in.

Light green: This is your background. Obviously. You've tried to make it seem like it's just a plain, and I understand that, but just the tree is not enough. Take just a smidgen darker shade of green and place it straight over the split between grass and sky. Apply it so it blends with the other greens. This should give a smooth transition into the horizon.

Okay, I HOPE I've helped at least a little. I know there's not a lot you can do to fix paintings, but maybe next time you do something you'll keep my stuff in mind.

Wow!! That's really quite neat! Nothing to be pointed out that Fixed hasn't already pointed out... But I actually kind of like some of those "mistakes"... They fit the style of painting in my mind. I wish I could do that well! Really, really well done!! *Clicks LIKE*

Who are the three women? I recognize the Green Lantern and Cyclops, but I don't recognize the others (or perhaps they're just your normal average everyday tea party crowd?). Anyways, I like.

Yeah, My good friend had a party where the girls wore tea dresses and the boys had to dress up like super heroes. They're just normal girls.

Thank you Fixed, I really do appreciate the time you took to critique my painting. Sadly I can fix any of them since I already gave the picture away, but I will remember them for my next project.

This is so cool, Adam! I agree that there are a couple of perspective angle and that the people could be a bit more natural looking, but I'm pretty impressed, honestly. I feel like painting is becoming a lost art in this era of computer graphics. This is awesome!

Love this! The colors are nice. Cool idea here. Good job on the textures and shadows. My fav figures in here is the guy on the far right and the girl in pink. You did a very good job with both of them. Here are my corrections:
-All the girls have unrealistically long necks, and the guys have unrealistically thick necks.
-The girl in black has a really, really, pointy chin. And what exactly is going on with her hair?
-The guy in green's arms are too short. He's a bit out of proportion. His leotardish thing is too long.

I'm no expert on paintings, but I actually think there's nothing wrong with it. Paintings are good if they're a bit exaggerated, otherwise why not just take a picture? I like that everyone's all dressed up for a tea party in the middle of nowhere. It's very abstract and I love the colours. If I saw this in an art gallery, I would attempt to steal it. Well, maybe not but that's how much I like it. Well done!
