Hey I am new to YWS and am not sure how to navigate around it. Any help? I want to be a chef when I'm older but I am also passionate about writing. My favourite books are the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and the Ingo series by Helen Dunmore. I prefer fantasy mixed with reality stories more than anything. Any recommendations? ~Lauren x
YWS is pretty easy to navigate, once you get the hang of things. Really you just have to wander around for a bit and just get used to it. But if you have any questions, I can surely answer them as best as I can.
I like fantasy as well, at least as far as writing goes. And any sort of fantasy requires a heap of reality, in my opinion. I always try to put as much reality as possible in with my fantasy stories.
We do seem to have quite a few Laurens on YWS. Anyway, welcome to YWS! I'm sure you'll have tons of fun here.
I loved Ingo. The sequels to it were okay, but the first was my favourite. What about you? You could become an awesome chef with your line of cookbooks.

I loved Ingo too, and I agree with Lava, the first one was the best. I do hope you start your own line of cookbooks, that would be so cool. Next time I'd say, Forget Jamie Oliver, I'm going to Lauren!
I don't particularly like fantasy with dragons and stuff, I don't mind vampiric stories though. Like of course, Twilight. Have you heard of/watched/read the Vampire Diaries? If you liked Twilight I'm sure you'll like this.
So you like Stephanie Meyer? Have you read The Host? It's quite good, but also long. I wouldn't recommend reading it when you have to revise or something. It was a little hard to follow for me (then again, I'm a rubbish reader) but I'm sure you will get it.
My all-time favourite book would have to me Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Have you heard of it? It's fantastic! It was a little old for me but I read it anyway.
