It's the beginning of April, which of course can only mean one thing. Time for the March 2010 Statistics Report!
This time around, I'm going to provide the definitions of the terms first, then go into the numbers.
Definitions
Pageviews: Just what it sounds like. Every time you load a page on YWS, that is one pageview.
Visits: Every time you visit YWS, that's one visit. Typically, if you come to YWS multiple times a day but leave your browser open, that should be counted as just one visit. But if you visit YWS ten times in one day, and each time you close your browser before opening it again, then that's ten visits.
Unique Visitors: This is the number of unique computers used to access YWS in the past month. So if you visit YWS from two separate computer locations (say school and home), then that counts as two unique visitors.

- Average Time on Site: 15 minutes and 5 seconds
- Total Posts: 13,557

My Commentary
I'm a little bit in disbelief about the top 10 cities. I really don't know what to make of it because for the first time ever, an American city does not break into the top 10 until number 7. Usually you have Los Angeles or New York around #3 or #4, but both cities underperformed in March. Instead, Honolulu (which has never before been in the top 10) is the top American city, and then Denver.
On the other hand, it looks like a British Commonwealth takeover of YWS is going on. Each of the cities in the top 10 showed a substantial increase in activity compared to prior months (especially Perth), which means a lot more YWSers are coming from those areas.
However, there was an overall fall in activity in March compared to February and January. For the most part, this is expected; activity almost always falls in March (no holidays for most, mid-terms, etc.).
One interesting thing though. The share of new visitors on YWS (people who have never visited before) continues to fall and has been falling for quite some time. Yet at the same time, activity has generally increased month over month. What this means is that most of the activity on YWS is coming from older, more established members. In the past, it used to be that much of activity came from newer members. That's no longer true, which is good and bad.
