I am not your usual door key, no rather, I am a key to trying patience of anyone that uses me. Those new keys that glide in perfectly into the lock? Yeah, once you get me into your hands, forget about that pleasure. Don’t get me wrong, I am not old either but me and my master had a little scheme. Perhaps he put a spell on me on purpose before abandoning his job. I can just imagine him pounding on me with a hammer in his ironwork studio (isn’t that how keys are made?) and mumbling under his breath, “Here’s for you, ungrateful customers who treated me like crap, now you’ll know how it feels when no one can remake a key for you.” But I am just guessing. What if it was just an accident? Anyways, it’s time you stopped taking things like getting into your house for granted and respected your key. I am gentle and require a lot of care. I mean really, it’s not THAT difficult. All you have to do it slowly slide me in (NOT BACKWARDS) and twist me counterclockwise 360 degrees. And there goes the door, obediently creaking open. You can kick the door by all means (trust me, it loves it and besides, look at how fat it is while I am slender) but don’t you dare throwing me somewhere, just hang me on my hook.
And I am not writing this just because, many things have happened. What things? Well, for example, a couple people have run away from using me and abandoned the apartment forever. I am not gonna retell you all of their reasons they gave up on me that they shouted out so passionately but one of their excuses was, “I am so frustrated with you.” Are you kidding me? No, I am the one that’s frustrated with you! Your savage hands have no control, right door?
“yeah…”, it dumbly whispers to me. See, door sleeps most of the time so he hasn’t experienced half of what I have. Oh and just so that you know how all this affects me…I am stuck in the keyhole right now. Yeah, with my head out in the cold, looking miserably and waiting for someone to take me into their pocket. After another failed attempt of trying to get me out by pulling on me with her feet pushed against the door (he never feels a thing but my head was about to explode), the lady that is supposed to sell this apartment just left. I hope someone with common sense will rescue me and steal the apartment from her. That will teach her a lesson. Except now, she’s coming back with something huge and rather threatening in her hand…
“Door,”
“Uh?”
“I think we’re in trouble.”
