The original-tastic storybook. In the following words you will find something that might frighten you...
An original SB, one that isn't about teenagers, no genetic alteration, nor the government chasing anyone.

Just so that I don't waste my breath on anyone who would love the plot, and object to the rules, I'll save the plot for right before the profiles, and after the rules.

1.) General rules and kindness of the SB forums, you guys know how this works.
2.) You can have up to three characters, but that's where I draw the line.
3.) Your characters must be either 5-9, or 26+
4.) Obey me and Crocky, we're the greatest.
5.) If you couldn't understand rule four, I left out all ages even remotely CLOSE to a teenager, that is because I'm awesome like that.
6.) Could we try to avoid being cliche in our profiles? I mean, the creatures I give you the choice of being will help restrict that, however people still find a way. Damn! I thought we were writers here, not cliche robots.
7.) The creatures provided will not look like humans in the slightest, nor will they have human forms, finding an accurate picture will be very hard if not impossible. You've been warned.
8.) No whining.
9.) Since I give a limit of female characters please take a look through the profiles already posted before you make yours, I will turn down any profiles that exceed the gender limit. You can however reserve a character.
10.) Once we get four or five people with profiles posted we will start, however until I say otherwise, new people are always welcome.

There, now that those are over with, we can have fun! Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Four sides, three different planets. All but the fourth side have their own planet. The first side is the noble race of Abeils, many call them bee people and are never seen again.(See my latter text for a full description of each race and planet) They were the first race to make it into space, they are the most technologically advanced of the races. The next race are that of the Naga, a mainly peaceful people, but deadly when provoked. The Naga have not discovered space travel as of yet. The third race is that of the Lamia, creatures much like centaurs, the difference is instead of a horse half, they have a lion half. They are war-like, and have caused a war with several other planets in the past. They were also the third race to figure out space travel. The fourth, and final race is the Umber Hulk. They were the second ones to discover space travel. These creatures once lived with the Abeil but eventually could live with them no longer. They were cast out into space and could never find a safe place to stay, and so they stayed in space. After a time they had developed the need for revenge, however they also wanted to expand. Their numbers few, but many of the other races frail, they figured that small, well aimed attacks on the planet would make them crumble like dirt.

I know, the plot is fairly.... it gets you going. All you need to know is that the Umber Hulks are mean, sneaky, things. As I promised, I will now provide a better description of the races.

Abeil:
Abeils are insectlike humanoids known for their idustriousness and their complex social structure. They are commonly referred to as "bee people". Their society has an expansionist philosophy--a fact that troubles those whose lands they intrude upon. Rather then resorting to war, Abeils prefer to overcome rivals through superior resourcefulness and industry. An Abeil looks like a cross between an elf and a bee. A vassal or Queen stands more then seven feet high and has a slender but sinewy legs and arms. A soldier is at least ten feet tall and is considerable more muscular then either of the other two varieties. An Abeil's hands and feet have four digits each. Its body is covered with bristly fur, colored in alternating bands of black and yellow. The creature's head and facial features resemble those of an elf, except that the Abeil has black faceted eyes with long antennae. Like a bee an Abeil has translucent wings. Their technology relies on crystals.
All but three Abeils are males. The first would be the Queen, naturally. The other two would be juvenile queens. The juvenile queens act as Vassals, until they either find their own hive, or the queen dies. Vassals are the working class of Abeil society. The soldiers are the first, and last line of defense in Abeil society. They take residence on the planet known as Varlgoaari, this planet has average gravity, and has grassy plains with several variety of flowers, and bushes, then a few trees here and there. The weather on this planet is constantly warm ranging between seventy, and eighty degrees.
We need more of this race.

Naga:
The Naga live on a planet completely covered with water. They're a mix of snakes, and humans. Their upper half is very similar to a human, but their skin is always a color similar to their scales. Extending from their shoulders are four arms. A forked tongue hides in their mouth behind sharp fangs. Their lower half looks like that of a snake. They're able to breathe above water, however their natural home is below water. Their hair isn't always the same color as their skin and scales, but it is a similar color to their scales. Their lower half is like that of a scaled aquatic snake. It keeps a very basic pattern. It ranges from aquatic colors: purple, blue, green, and in rare cases, black. They generally have frills running down their spine going all the way to the tip of their tail. In the water they can easily swim at ten miles per hour, but when they're not trying to rush they simply slither along the bottom, or the floor of a structure they've built. With no need to leave their home, they hadn't bothered with the idea of space travel.
Their planet is called Varlelion. Naga society is run by chosen individual representatives, they pick two religious Naga, two fighter Naga, and two Diplomatic Naga. Together they run the planet and do what they think is best for their people.
I am no longer letting people make nagas.

Lamia:
Their upper half looks like that of an stunningly beautiful human. Their hair is oily, and has been seen in all the human colors. They are generally muscular with the exception of the small children. Their eyes are always pure yellow, their pupils are slits. Their teeth are much like humans, save for their canines, they are longer, sharper. Their lower half is that of a sleek lion. Their fur is very oily, but unlike their hair this makes it shine in light. They enjoy starting wars, and discovered space travel only so that they could start wars with other planets. They eat a diet composed of meat mostly, they however have been known to eat plants as well. They are cruel, creatures. They enjoy taking many prisoners in war, and then torturing them to death. They enjoy causing suffering.
They reside on the planet known as Corabah. Most of the surface is covered in plains. However there are several lakes and rivers, they have small oceans on their planet. There are a few remote tribes of the Lamia that live in the many mountains that cover the planets surface. There are about five tribes of the Lamia, three are large, and are the ones which engaged other worlds. The other two are smaller, and war among themselves.
This race needs more, but I'd rather you'd make an Abeil or Umber Hulk first.

Umber Hulk:
These hulking, powerfully build creatures look something like a great ape and a beetle. Their low, rounded heads are dominated by massive pairs of mandibles and rows of triangular teeth. They have two big compound eyes like a beetle's, with two smaller eyes like an ape's in between. Armor plates cover virtually all of their chitinous body, whose scattered feelers resemble sparse hair. They are incredibly intelligent despite their appearance. An Umber Hulk stands roughly eight feet tall and measures nearly five feet across, weighing about eight hundred pounds. They can crush nearly anything and tear through rocks like they were nothing. They can also bite through solid metal, rocks, and tough exoskeletons.
As I mentioned before they were forced to reside in space. They had several ships, over time they had a full fleet of ships. Their ships however are bare of any weapons, thus forcing them onto the planet.
Come on! Are you guys scared to be the bad guy?

Hey dreamy, Nagas live on a completely underwater planet. I'm not quite sure having an electric sword would be such a good idea with the whole, water conducts electricity.

Wow, this is innovatabulous!

Name: Sytei Harradin

Age: 35

Race: Naga

Gender: Male

Personality: Apparently introverted and introspective, Sytei can come across as sheltered and somewhat xenophobic. His general disposition is against the other three species, as he believes their apparent lack of respect for the Naga gods (am I right on this? How many do they have?) to be an abomination. He is strongly against space travel, as he believes it lures the unwary from the path that runs from Varlelion to the afterlife.

Skills: While he has no skills truly useful in war, he has a highly trained mind and excellent focus. Despite his distaste for the other species, he has made a point of studying whatever information about them he can discover, and hence has an excellent understanding of the alien mind. He can learn at an astounding rate, and forgets very little. He is blind, but the rest of his senses are excellent, and he can 'see' through tasting the air.

Equipment: None

Magical Skills: He can sense if people around him are lying, or concealing information.

Appearance: Sytei is quite thin, and seems more attuned with his snake side than his human side. He has long and wavy black hair, that seems to radiate out from his head like a mane, twitching from time to time as though with a life of its own. His skin is a pale blue, becoming deep blue as it merges with his scales. His eyes are milky white.

Social Rank: Priest. The diplomats also use him for consultation from time to time, though he is not permitted to speak to non-naga.

Other: Possibly up for love.

***

Name: Taliar Kreala

Age: 27

Race: Abeil

Gender: Male

Personality: Taliar is a model soldier, following orders without question, and strongly believing in the supremacy of the Abeil race. If the situation demands it, he will not hesitate to take intiative. He does not live for war, however, and strongly believes in the Abeil doctrine that industry and intelligence overcome force. He sees it as his duty, above all, to protect that industry and intelligence.

Skills: Taliar's most apparent skills lie in the art of war, particularly strategy and defence. He can also serve in the economic powerhouse of an Abeil hive, however, and has sometimes been tasked with duties that a vassal cannot complete for whatever reason.

Equipment: A glaive, a repeating crossbow, and a helmet made from the exoskeleton of an umber hulk.

Magical Skills: None.

Appearance: Taliar was one of a breed of soldiers bred specifically to combat vengeful umber hulks. Hence, he is genetically designed to match them as closely as possible in battle. He stands at a full fourteen feet tall, and his body is covered in an exoskeleton of the same chitinous substance as an umber hulk's, patterned in the same way that a normal Abeil is. His face is untouched by this plating, however, which is the reason for his helmet.

Social Rank: Royal guard.

Other: Not up for love.

Skills: Intelligent, extensive knowledge of each species and their flaws/strengths, is capable of flying a space ship.
Equipment: ...she has a lab? No particular skill with weapons, tends towards planning and biological warfare.
Magical Skills: None

Ardella Margel

Slithering along the floor of the water that covered the planet, Ardella pondered if she could get the council to sanction another war with someone. She quite enjoyed her position of power, however there weren't many people for her to go up against. The Naga people had evolved past warring amongst themselves. Ever since the Naga race had kicked the Lamia off of their planet they would not expect them to come back.

There was one other Naga, this one worried her. Using the top minds of the Naga people, and what appeared to be something alien, she had made a sword that could accidentally kill everyone on the planet. Perhaps going to fight on another planet would help get her away from the range of this sword.

"Ardella, the council has missed your presence." She sighed, the council member that spoke was one of the diplomatic Naga. Her eyes narrowed on him. "You know full well that I'm the only Naga council member with child." He chuckled. "Children are a weakness, you are stronger without them."

Her child, Ardiel, scowled and slithered out from behind her mother. "I will have you know that I am NOT weak! Mommy said so!" Ardella gently began to stroke her head with one of her six arms. She looked over to one of the religious Naga. "I believe the time has come to wage war on another planet, claim it for our own."

Leigh Branske
He watched the entire Naga council meet. He had a wonderful advantage on them. The Naga council had kept many statues around their meeting place. The Abeil race had declared a peace with the Naga during the wars between planets, and given them statues of Umber Hulks. If Leigh could simply stand still, they would take no notice of him.

The girl, daughter of the most dangerous Naga. Perfect. It would weaken them, he could possibly make the Naga surrender to get the girl back. With a shuttle just waiting to take him back to his own ship, the girl would be gone before they could react.

Malik Clan
Running across the plains of his word was delightful. Soon they would make a war on those living on the other planets. Their numbers had grown strong. As he neared his home he slowed into a light jog. A slight blush spread across his face. Standing not too far from him was Aurinka, he stopped cold. A second later he walked up to her slowly.

"Hello Aurinka," he tried to clear the blush from his face, but couldn't. He felt quite ashamed, he was a proud warrior, and yet he blushed at the sight of a female. A slight smile crossed her lips. "Hi Malik." She had spoken back to him, this was to be expected, but his cheeks reddened a tad bit more. "I was wondering if you'd like to go on a hunt for food with me?"
All I can hear; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". Even those tears; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". No one's frightened of playing it. Everyone's saying it. Flowing more freely than wine. All through your life; "I me mine".

[Would you prefer first or third person? I've just realised you wrote on third but i've already written most of mine and i'm too lazy to change it all oTL If you'd prefer i'll use third person next time :D ]

~Aurinka~

I smiled softly as the other Lamia padded towards me. "Of course," I agreed as we set off towards the hunting grounds, considering briefly what I knew about Malik. I vaguely recalled looking over his records several times when choosing research gatherers, but the worrying black marks on his details had discouraged us from choosing him. Admittedly, they were only small disobediences, but it had been enough to cast doubts.
He wasn't someone I'd ever come across him person, though... the strict social boundaries between warriors and scientists meant there was generally little interaction. But today was different - every Lamia could feel it in their bones. We could see it in the crowds, in the plains full of life and strength and bloodlust. And we felt it in the adrenalin that rushed through our veins.
War was coming.
I looked at Malik out of the corner of my eye. Apparently my extended silence had been enough to worry him - there was an expression of concern of his face. I gave him a reassuring smile. "We're almost there."
He blushed again, and I internally rolled my eyes. Poor warriors. It must be hard living with absolutely no female contact.
"Let's hunt," I murmured quietly, drawing my bow from it's harness.

[I might have a second character - am I allowed to be one of the juvenile Abeil queens? Also, I'm slightly confused as to their role - are they like handmaidens or queens in training or do they have absolutely no rank of worth? :) ]
Elizabeth: "There will come a moment when you will have a chance to show it. To do the right thing."
Jack: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."

**Considering there's only one, I might also make an Umber Hulk later**

Sytei Harradin

The religious Naga didn't see the warrior leader look at him before she spoke, but when she did, he had no doubt of whom she addressed. Wage war on another planet? But that would require space travel, diverting Naga souls from the true path they needed to take!

Sytei folded two of his hands together, angling them down in a compliant gesture. But his other two arms spread wide, in a somewhat more agressive, questioning one. "Ardella, is there truly a need to move beyond our own world? The Lamia have been shown they have no means of overpowering us. We are at peace with the Abeils, and they are more than enough to keep the Umber Hulks occupied. It has long been the council's consensus that there is no need for us to venture beyond the waters of Varlelion, and the gods never intended that the Naga make such a journey."

"There are many valid reasons that speak for it as well, which the council has long turned a blind eye to." Ardella replied. "Not the least of these is that certain weapons have been developed that pose a significant risk to our people. These would be better placed on a world other than this one."

The religious Naga frowned, blindly scanning the area, trying to glean what the rest of the council felt about this. He sighed, "I suppose you would know these things best." He conceded, "May I propose the placement of religious Naga on any vessel leaving Varlelion, in that case?"

Taliar Kreala

The great hive of Varlgoaari, built around one of its many enormous trees, was alive with activity. With the many crystals attached to it glowing with energy, it appeared to virtually pulse, like the great, beating heart of the Abeil civilisation. Vassals constantly swarmed to and from it, carrying large containers of everything from the nectar vital to their society, to various other materials required for the construction of weapons and ships.

The industrial powerhouse of the hive never slept, with half the vassals working during the day, the other half by night. For a people at war with an enemy that loathed them as the Umber Hulks did, it was necessary that they always be at full productivity.

Taliar overlooked the whole hive from his post in one of the hive extensions, wound high into the tree. After allowing himself a few moments, though, he turned his eyes to the sky once again, watching the blue expanse intently. His multifaceted eyes glittered with wariness as he stood the tiring duty of watching for the Umber Hulk, or Lamia, ship that might attack at any moment.

Every so often he returned his eyes to the hive, vainly trying to see some way in which they could improve the collosal structure, either defensively or industrially. It was something to keep him occupied, while he waited for the inevitable attack of the Umber Hulks. Of course, he would have preferred to take the fight to them - the only true defence against such an enemy was utter eradication - but that ran contrary to traditional Abeil philosophy, and who was he to question the queen?
He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt. - Yossarian, Catch-22

Seven Delamoore

I placed my sword back in its waterproof case. It was the most powerful weapon under the sea, as far as I could tell. One mis-swipe and everyone-including myself- dies. However, I had installed a control mechanism, one that only let it transmit electricity towards what it touched. If I were to use it, my finger could not leave that button. However, I had trained for years. I would never let go if I were to use it. I smiled. I never would have to, anyway. We were past war, or so I thought. And even if we were to enter battle, I was only a reserve member of the army. I would only be called in during the worst of times, when my sword and myself would be needed. I spun the lock on the case tightly closed, and went outside to watch the neighborhood children play. I smiled, wishing I had some of my own. Suddenly, a few older boys started throwing punches. I slithered out, breaking them up.
"You two should know better." I scold. Nagas had stopped fighting amongst themselves long ago. One of them slithered off angrily, and the other on whimpered slightly, Blood from a very small cut on his arm floating up into the water. I touched it quickly, and it healed. I hadn't used my powers in a long time, and felt glad to put them to use. Healing others was challenging, and I could only heal small cuts on others. Tired, I slithered back to my house, the boy calling his thanks behind me.
Honey, you should see me in a crown.

today we are possible.
