The Part I Have Already Posted
Spoiler
Prologue

Beads of sweat were dripping down his arms, and then slowly falling into the crimson pool of blood at his feet. Tom examined the unconscious man. After he had decided the man wasn’t losing too much blood, he delved into his pocket to retrieve his PDA. He cursed when he realized it wasn’t there. He was going to have to use the old way of working out where he was. He knew roughly, but roughly wasn't good enough. Only roughly knowing something got people killed. He should know that better than anyone else. After all, only roughly knowing something had got his Mother killed.

Tom exited the men’s toilets, leaving their terrible miasma behind and entering the rush-hour crush of people at Tokyo’s Shinjuku train station. Due to Shinjuku been the busiest station in the world, someone was bound to find the unconscious man he had almost killed with his bare hands. He knew that he had to get away because soon the place would be crawling with police. He slipped in to stream of people that all seemed to be heading towards a train platform. He suppressed a smile when he saw where he was. The sign read Chou line platform, Chou line for Tokyo. Now Tom knew where he was for certain. He was exactly where he wanted to be. He reached into his pocket and took out his train ticket.

The train stopped and Tom got off. Tom wasn’t his real name; it was just the one he had been given for this mission. He smiled, his eyes shining as bright as supernova. He loved missions, the secrecy of it all. He quickly scanned the area for the Gents toilets. There he would wait for his target, like a hunter waits for his prey.
Yamamoto Kawamura had evaded the law for more than thirty two years, but now he had made his last mistake. He had become a man of habit, doing the same things day in day out, right down to which subway toilet he had a crap at.
Tom had successfully infiltrated Yamamoto’s house by making friends with Yamamoto’s son Yamada, but somehow Yamamoto’s bodyguard had realized that Tom wasn’t your average teenager. Now the bodyguard was unconscious and unless he had medical attention soon he could slip into a coma. Tom wasn’t going to let three months of a mission go to waste. Now he meant business. Four hours from now Yamamoto would be in a police interrogation room.

As soon as Tom heard someone enter the next cubicle along, he was on the floor looking at the man’s shoes. They matched Yamamoto’s. Tom slipped out of his cubicle and ran his finger down to door of Yamamoto’s, searching for the weakest spot. Confident, he kicked the door right on its weak spot and it shattered, spraying shards of plastic in Yamamoto’s surprised face.
“Tom. I don’t understand. Who are you?”
“That doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that I don’t work for North Korea, stealing research from the Japanese. Oh, I don’t have control of the biggest snakehead in Japan either.”Tom didn’t give him chance to pull his trousers up. He grabbed Yamamoto’s hands, flipped him onto the floor and stood on his back.
“Otoko anata kebukai shiri ga!”
Tom exclaimed as he gagged Yamamoto with his jumper. Translated, it roughly meant “Man you have a hairy butt!” He knelt down and took a mobile out of Yamamoto’s pocket.. After a quick glance at the last call, one to A.Power.
“Yamamoto my friend, its time I made the call.”
If he hadn’t been bound and gagged by various items of clothing, Yamamoto would have had great satisfaction in killing Tom. He had already killed twelve undercover agents. After thirty two years of criminal activity, he had been beaten by a kid.

Chapter One

Three weeks and eight bust noses after starting school, Kyran had started Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Strength and Stamina classes. He was fed up of being bullied. Now he had a brown belt in karate and a six pack to go along with it. To fund his training, he had hacked banks from all around the world, taking two pounds from half a million accounts. Officially he was a millionaire, but he couldn’t touch that money until he was 18, so he had to find another way of making money. His father’s business hadn’t been legit, so why should his? The beauty of the crime Kyran had committed was no one had noticed. That had been months ago, and now he had decided it was time to make a stand.
*
Kyran Power was a nerd. After two terms at high school he had suffered a fractured leg and countless bust noses, all inflicted by James Dunwell, the ultimate chav and Kyran’s worst enemy.
“Just you wait. I’m going to smash your head in at break.”
Kyran almost choked as he smelt James’ vile breath. It stank of smoke. It was double science, Kyran’s favourite lesson, and he had been partnered with James.
“You can do all the work. Don’t think I’m doing it. And if you get anything wrong, I’ll break you.”
Kyran kept a smile to himself as he wrote James first answer wrong.

“Question One. Who created the theory of Gravity? James Crosland, maybe you would like to share your answer instead of chatting?”
Mr Merrybell’s voice boomed across the classroom. Kyran suddenly felt his stomach knot with fear. What if James was too strong?
“Charles Darwin, Sir.”
The whole class cracked up laughing James turned bright red.
“Well James, if you had done the work given you instead of chatting and making Kyran do it all, you wouldn’t have got the question wrong. Detention.”
“But…” started James
“And make that an afterschool detention. Now, Kyran, can I count on you for the right answer?”
“Sir Isaac Newton, Sir”
“Well done, we have the right answer!”
James gave Kyran the dirtiest look ever. He whispered something to Kyran.
“Just you wait.”

“Fight, fight, fight!”
It seemed to Kyran the whole school was chanting. He was waiting for James to make a move. He knew it would give him an advantage if he could counteract it and get James on the floor. Then it came. James charged but at the last second Kyran stepped aside and flipped him over. All the girls screamed as Kyran ripped into James, pummelling his face into a bloody mess. After a minute, Kyran stepped back to admire his handiwork. Inside he felt sick but at the same time strangely satisfied. Then he realised his mistake right at the last moment, a split second before he felt his gut explode with pain as James fist connected with it. The fist turned into a hand that began to rip away Kyran’s shirt, revealing a six pack. There were several wolf whistles when Kyran’s muscles were revealed but he didn’t hear them as he went for James a second time, trying out several karate moves that did more the a roundhouse kick. There was a sickening crunch as James leg was snapped into an awkward V shape. As soon as he heard the bone break, Kyran stopped and looked James. He immediately wished he hadn’t. He looked awful and was screaming in pain. His leg was broken in at least three places and he was covered in blood. The crowd had broken up; most people had not been able to withstand the utter brutality of the attack. Then Kyran panicked. He would get in serious trouble for this. If his mum was still alive he would have been grounded indefinitely. He couldn’t face all that now. He had to get away. He turned and ran towards the gates.

Big Al’s was Kyran’s favourite diner in the world. It served the best burgers ever and the steak and chips was fantastic. Best of all, it was minutes away from Stanford bridge, the home of Kyran’s favourite football club, Chelsea. There was a match that night and Kyran had a season ticket. He had thought it would be the perfect place to escape everything, but he had kept on seeing people from school.
Now the match had begun, Big Al’s was deserted apart from the couple kissing in the corner. He ordered a special 1lb burger, his favourite, but couldn’t face up to eating it. He just kept on getting flashbacks from when his parents were alive, from when he first rode a bike, birthday parties, holidays and most off all, just before his dad went to prison.

New Part:
Chapter Two

Kyran walked along, looking around warily. Punching out James could have serious repercussions, a lot worse than the police caution he had already been issued. Brian Dunwell, James dad was the kingpin of a huge drugs business nicknamed DD’s Gang. A week on he was starting to let his guard drop a bit, but he was careful not to drop into a false sense of security. That was exactly what his foe wanted him to do, the time they were waiting for, the time they would strike. Unbeknown to him though was the fact the people following and analyzing his every move were not members of Brian Dunwell’s drug cartel. They were the Youth Espionage and Surveillence Agency. They YESA

Rain fell, flooding the streets. Kyran hurried along, trying desperately to lose his tails. They had started following him as he had left Big Al’s, and now he was at the other side of town. He had realized now they were not just members of DD’s gang, they were highly trained elite individuals, not even breaking their stride, despite all the anti-surveillance routes Kyran was taking. The strangest thing was that they were no older than him, both either twelve or thirteen, still kids, yet by the way they were following Kyran they seemed to be trained to military standards. He turned round a corner, momentarily losing his pursuers. He dive into the nearest shop, fervently hoping they would just walk past, but realized his mistake a split-second too late. The street ahead was long and straight, and all the other shops were boarded up. There was only one place he could have gone, a dingy corner shop with only one exit and a fat man stocking up sweets. Kyran backed up into a fighting stance; waiting for his would be attackers. A tall, gangly teenager entered the store but Kyran ignored him. The people he was looking for were shorter and stockier. The teen picked up a chocolate bar and went to pay for it at the till. Kyran started to shuffle awkwardly out of hi fighting pose, confused as to where the two kids had gone. The teen finished paying for his chocolate and walked past Kyran, raising and slamming his hand into Kyran’s neck, making him fall on the floor, unconscious.

“Welcome,my friend.” The blindfold around Kyran’s eyes was untied and he immediately screwed his eyes up. He looked around, taking in the sight. In front of him was a large, frameless glass window. More impressive though was the view out of the window. There was a huge army grade obstacle course, in the middle of a field that stretched for miles. On the obstacle course there were several children, the youngest been about six and the oldest eighteen. But that was not the reason Kyran’s mouth was hanging open. “Welcome to YESA” The voice boomed again, filling the huge room with the sound. Kyran couldn’t see the man, but he recognised the voice. “Wha- Wh… What’s YESA? Young Emerging Scientists of Africa or something?” “YESA stands for the Youth Espionage and Surveillance Agency.”

Hey, PowerOutage. I'm happy to say this "Book of Power" was definitely no outage in the interesting department. Oh geeky humor  Anyway, into the review!

Problems:
You have an interesting plot here. Before we get into the nit-picks, lets talk content:

ThePowerOutage wrote:They were YESA.

YESA - Acronyms will kill you my friend. Write like you want this published. People hate reading about weird acronyms you've made up so early in the book. Unless you meant Young Emerging Scientists of Africa, then I suggest you scrap this. It really doesn't create an aura of mystery.

Fighting - Maybe you should talk to Stori about the fighting scene. I really don't know *anything* about martial arts but isn't it about self-control, defense and discipline? Okay, maybe Kyran blocked his ears when Instructor explained that but you should at least make that clear. It would explain his character as well.
Karate is meant for self-defense. It is meant to teach self-control and discipline. It's basically the same kind of trash (Swap word depending on Kyran's character) with all the other martial arts, Kyran thought. But I have a mission, and these are just the tools to help.

Your Characters: I like what you did with "Tom". The best way to introduce your character is to introduce him in his element. So you got a spiderman like superhero? Have him on the crime scene, stopping the crime and worrying about school the next day. Got musical prodigy (August Rush)? Introduce him first taking out all his problems through music. Got a secret agent? Have him do what he does best, even though what he does ain't pretty ;) You achieved this with Tom, I already have an idea of the kind of character we're going to see for the rest of the book. Kyran... I'm not so sure. I dunno, you could have done some work with him. And you gave almost no facts about him (Hobbies, Personality, Aspirations)...

Setting: When and where does this go down? Is everything in Japan? Is one part in Japan and the other in America? Does an of this happen in the 2000's? Or is this 1990's? 1980's?

Nit-Picks:
(Before we do this, know it's always better to show not tell. Any old person could look angry. But when your brow wrinkles together and your scowl curves the edges of your face in an expression that is definitely *not* a smile, then you've got something)
Prologue

Beads of sweat were dripping down his arms, and then slowly falling into the crimson pool of blood at his feet. [Change: Beads of sweat dripped down his arms and slowly fell into the pool of blood at his feet (For scenery add - rippling the crimson)]. Tom examined the unconscious man. After he had decided the man wasn't losing too much blood, he delved into his pocket to retrieve his PDA. He cursed when he realized it wasn’t there. He was going to have to use the old way of working out where he was. He knew roughly, but roughly wasn't good enough. Only roughly knowing something got people killed. He should know that better than anyone else. After all, only roughly knowing something had got (Cheange: gotten) his Mother killed.

Tom exited the men's toilets, leaving their (I'd change to 'the') terrible miasma behind and entering the rush-hour crush of people at Tokyo’s Shinjuku train station. Due to Shinjuku been the busiest station in the world, someone was bound to find the unconscious man he had almost killed with his bare hands. He knew that he had to get away because soon the place would be crawling with police (This could've been better, change to: Tom could already imagine to rolls of police tape, the sirens and news crew that would soon be crawling all over the place.). He slipped in to (Correction: into) the stream of people that all seemed to be heading towards a train platform (Correction: kill the 'all'). He suppressed a smile when he saw where he was. The sign read Chou line platform, Chou line for Tokyo. (For brevity sake, this could've been: He smiled as the bright red neon flashed: CHOU LINE PLATFORM, CHOU LINE FOR TOKYO) Now Tom knew where he was for certain. He was exactly where he wanted to be. He reached into his pocket and took out his train ticket.

The train stopped and Tom got off. Tom wasn't his real name (Hmm... this seemed... ill placed); it was just the one he had been given for this mission. He smiled, his eyes shining as bright as supernova (Odd Simile). He loved missions, the secrecy of it all. He quickly scanned the area for the Gents toilets. There he would wait for his target, like a hunter waits for his pray (I had to refer back to this when Tom looked into the next stall. Rather narrate him entering the paltform a la: Tom entered the gents toilets and the third stall from the wall. There he would wait...).

(NEW PARAGRAPH)

Yamamoto Kawamura had evaded the law for more than thirty two (Correction: Thirty-two. One word, two parts) years, but now he had made his last(You could italicize) mistake. He had become a man of habit, doing the same things day in day out, right down to which subway toilet he had a crap at...

(New Paragraph)

Who are you?” (The punctuation changed how I read it, or how it should ahve been read. Rather: "Tom?" he exclaimed in his strong accent "I don't understand! Wha- Wh... Who are you?")
“That doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that I don’t work for North Korea, stealing research from the Japanese. Oh, I don’t have control of the biggest snakehead in Japan either.”

Tom didn’t give him chance to pull his trousers up.
After a quick glance at the last call, one to A.Power
“Yamamoto my friend, its (Haha, classic mistake. It's = It is. Its is possessive. The computer owns a mouse. Its mouse. Change to 'it's') time I made the call.”
If he hadn’t been bound and gagged by various items of clothing, Yamamoto would have had great satisfaction in killing Tom. He had already killed twelve undercover agents. After thirty two years of criminal activity, he had been beaten by a kid.

I will only nit-pick the prologue because a good read-through might reveal other nit-picks in the rest. Also, another reviewer might come and do the rest.

---

Praise:
I liked this because of the action. You didn't just narrate what your characters have done or are feeling, but you actually made them do things so we could see how they did what they do.

---
Tips:
 Try to re-write Kyran's scene. First tell us about his history and who he wants to be. Tell us his obstacle with the bully and what he's done. Then have him solve it.
Not much more...
Well done! Keep writing!

---

Overall this was well done. But it's missing something (BTW, this could've been on chapter altogether), something... a cliffhanger! Put something suspensful in there. The next chapter should really introduce us to the characters and make us feel for them. Well done *LIKES*.

Fly On,
Hero.

Hi ThePowerOutage
I really like the beginnings of this book and I think it's really good.
There are lots of young spy like books out at the moment but yours is different in it's own way.
I only saw a few mistakes and they were small ones, like misspelt words and missing punctuation, but if you read it through you can sort it out easily.
Like I said, it's a good start. Keep writing this way and it will be really good.

Hi! I shall review. Because I haven't read any of this yet, I will start at the prologue.

Beads of sweat were dripping down his arms, and then slowly falling into the crimson pool of blood at his feet. Tom examined the unconscious man. After he had decided the man wasn’t losing too much blood,[1] he delved into his pocket to retrieve his PDA. He cursed when he realized it wasn’t there. He was going to have to use the old way of working out where he was. [1.5] He knew roughly, but roughly wasn't good enough. Only roughly knowing something got people killed. He should know that better than anyone else. After all, only roughly knowing something had got his Mother killed. [2]

[3] He knew that he had to get away because soon the place would be crawling with police. He slipped in to stream of people that all seemed to be heading towards a train platform. He suppressed a smile when he saw where he was. The sign read Chou line platform, Chou line for Tokyo. Now Tom knew where he was for certain. He was exactly where he wanted to be. Yamamoto Kawamura had evaded the law for more than thirty two years, but now he had made his last mistake. He had become a man of habit, doing the same things day in day out, right down to which subway toilet he had [5] a crap at.

Tom had successfully infiltrated Yamamoto’s house by making friends with Yamamoto’s son Yamada, [6] but somehow Yamamoto’s bodyguard had realized that Tom wasn’t your average teenager. Now the bodyguard was unconscious and unless he had medical attention soon he could slip into a coma. [7] Tom wasn’t going to let three months of a mission go to waste. Now he meant business. Confident, he kicked the door right on its weak spot and it shattered, spraying shards of plastic in Yamamoto’s surprised face.

“Tom. I don’t understand. Who are you?” [8]

“That doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that I don’t work for North Korea, stealing research from the Japanese. Oh, I don’t have control of the biggest snakehead in Japan either.” Tom didn’t give him chance to pull his trousers up. He grabbed Yamamoto’s hands, flipped him onto the floor and stood on his back.

“Otoko anata kebukai shiri ga!” 「九」

Tom exclaimed as he gagged Yamamoto with his jumper. Translated, it roughly meant “Man you have a hairy butt!” He knelt down and took a mobile out of Yamamoto’s pocket.. After a quick glance at the last call, one to A.Power.

“Yamamoto my friend, its time I made the call.”

If he hadn’t been bound and gagged by various items of clothing, Yamamoto would have had great satisfaction in killing Tom. He had already killed twelve undercover agents. After thirty two years of criminal activity, he had been beaten by a kid.

[1]: Okay, so this seems to contradict itself here. I think it's because the first sentence makes me think that he's on his feet (blood dripping down) (at his feet). Then the second sentance/ third sentence makes me think that he's a little feint and passed out. Not so much blood if he's only unconscious.

[1.5]: Okay, so this is a little odd, too. I've just re-read it after going ahead, and it seems that, if he's going to take the train, or kill someone, then he would need to know where he is. Because it's not a spur of the moment thing, I think he should know where he is, but maybe not know the time. This just makes it more interesting. He would have to know what train station he's at when he's about to murder someone, me thinks.

[2]: However, this is a nice ending to the first paragraph.

[3]: This is... odd sounding. How can you almost kill someone with your bare hands? That either means that he's almost killed the man, only using his hands (which I think is what you're thinking of), or you've killed the man, almost did it with your bare hands, but had to use a weapon in the end. For this, I would suggest "Due to Shinjuku been the busiest station in the world, someone was bound to find the unconscious man that was lying on the bathroom's white tiled floor." and just leave out the 'with bare hands'. Maybe you could add in something later about not having to pack up.

Also, QUESTION(s): Wouldn't there be people in the bathroom with him, if it was a busy station in Japan? Wouldn't he not be able to draw so much blood, if he didn't use a weapon? Wouldn't he have a lot of blood on his hands, if he just killed the guy?

I would have a quick think about what the killer would do, before you re-edit. Small creases needing to be edited out. Otherwise, it's a good story so far, and the writing style/action is good.

[4]: Good metaphor. Gives me an image of a lion looking over the crowd. Small suggestion: you could say "like a lion stalking his prey'. I think stalk is a more powerful word than waits.

[5]: Took sounds better, in my opinion.

[6]: Have you read Cherub? Also, this is a good indicator of age, but you could say something like " Who was... also" to give us a better idea. Because up until now, I had thought it was a grown man.

[7]: So that's the guy in the toilet before? Nice. This kid sounds a little psychotic, though. Temper issues. Wouldn't want to get in the way of him.

[8]: Okay, this is a japanese guy, so I think now would be a good time to say something like "His english was broken" or something like that.

[九] I'm learning japanese, so I think (although I don't know what hairy but is in japanese) that you're missing some particles. I think it should be "otoko, (Do people in Japan say MAN! like we do?) anata no BUT wa HAIRY desu.
あなたの肛門は毛深いです。
anatano koomon wa kebukai desu.
Your anus is hairy. ( I think.)

Welll.... I can't say I didn't like the story. As I said before, you have a good writing style if you're going after 12 year old kids. And I don't mean to age discriminate here, but for something written by a 12 year old, this is fantastic! Just iron out those creases, and this would be a great story. I'm guessing you've read cherub?

I haven't read the rest of it yet, but I'll be sure to come back and read chapter one.Just skimming over it, however, it looks a little short. If you could add in the description to those chapters like you did here, then you're on your way!

Three weeks and eight busted noses after starting school, Kyran had started Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Strength and Stamina classes. He was fed up of being bullied. Now he had a brown belt in karate and a six pack to go along with it. To fund his training, he had hacked banks from all around the world, taking two pounds from half a million accounts. [1] Officially he was a millionaire, but he couldn’t touch that money until he was 18, so he had to find another way of making money.

[2]

“Fight, fight, fight!”

It seemed to Kyran the whole school was chanting. He was waiting for James to make a move. He knew it would give him an advantage if he could counteract it and get James on the floor. [*]Then it came. [*] James charged but at the last second Kyran stepped aside and flipped him over. All the girls screamed as Kyran ripped into James, pummelling his face into a bloody mess. After a minute, Kyran stepped back to admire his handiwork. [*]Inside he felt sick but at the same time strangely satisfied. Then he realised his mistake right at the last moment, a split second before he felt his gut explode with pain as James fist connected with it. [*] The fist turned into a hand that began to rip away Kyran’s shirt, revealing a six pack. There were several wolf whistles when Kyran’s muscles were revealed but he didn’t hear them as he went for James a second time, trying out several karate moves that did morethe than a roundhouse kick. [*] There was a sickening crunch as James leg was snapped into an awkward V shape. As soon as he heard the bone break, Kyran stopped and looked James. [*] He immediately wished he hadn’t.

[2]

[1]: Okay, so this is the first chapter, and the first paragraph. I'm sure you could find an interesting way to write this out, stretching it out into chapters of good material. We don't need to know that he's a good hacker, we need to be shown the thrill of the chase. And he's, what... 14 years old? Don't be daft. He couldn't get away with that, which net even the best criminals can get away with, without years of extensive research.
Show us how he gets the money, maybe start the chapter with him at karate, then going home and hacking. Have him come across some problems. This just seems a little too good to be true.

[2]: Okay, so this is more of a matter of personal preferance, but usually authors will put something like a *** there to show a change of scene. Double space is fine, however.

[3]: I'm not sure what you're doing with these last paragraphs. You could make them the start of the next chapter, because it's a bit more dramatic if you end before this part.

[*]: Everywhere that I've put this should (in my opinion) be a new paragraph.

Okay, so the overall:

I think the prologue was better. It seems you put more work into planning it out, and it seemed like this chapter was very short. My advice would be to stretch out the begining, and make this the second/thrid chapter. Maybe we can appreciate the thrill of the fight more when we know the character better.

Also, it's obvious that this guy's like... superman of the school. Hacked into the world's banks, five or so black belts, super smart and ripped as - and he's not even left school. I'd say tone him down a bit. Make him make mistakes - make him more 3D and not like the kid superman.

Oh well... aside from above, I liked it. I shall read on later!

Ta-ta for now.

I completely disagree with TheNewHero and asxz because I think this is a awesome story but the only mistakes I noticed were misspelled words and missed out punctuation. Have a good day TPO.

sometimes i'm like "I should say something quotable to make it into the quote gen" but then I feel bad because quote gen quotes are very spontaneous
