Not sure if this is where this one goes ... and if it doesn't belong here, I'm sure one of our wonderful admins will kindly move it.
But onto the point of this so far pointless thread.
I'm sure you've all heard of Facebook one way or another. If you're unfamiliar with it, here's the short-and-short of it. There's pages on Facebook that you can "become a fan" of. By becoming a fan, it is sort of like becoming a member in a world-wide club of people liking the same thing as you. They all range from favourite bands to "Join if you can lick your nose with your tongue", or, "I have fallen up the stairs". Anything and everything can be created into a Facebook fan group.
So, as I was scrolling my pages, I saw "I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what Barney really looked like!"
I was like, "Hm." Clicking on the page link, I saw that you had to 'become a fan' of the group to see the pictures. Knowing that earlier that evening I'd discovered you could basically 'un-fan' yourself, I clicked it, and clicked on the pictures tab.
It brought me to a page with a gallery that had a picture advising you to join the group and -- since I use Facebook in "English (Pirate) to make it more fun -- another picture book that said "Crew Member Graven Images" (Images from members, basically).
The gist of it was that people had posted pictures of themselves being silly, or "tagging" theirself as Barney himself or their friend's as Barney. Or badly photo-shopped pictures of the late Michael Jackson as Barney, or girls just trying to look pretty. The first picture with a real person was a girl.
Not being a creep, so please don't take me for a stalker, I noticed her eyes almost immediately. They were really nice eyes. I think most everyone who commented almost agreed that. Someone's first comment was "Stunning eyes there darling!".
Underneath that, another sour little guy posted, "Brown eyes can't be stunning."
So, up until now, I haven't really reached my point. But here I am! Brown-eyed, brown-haired, five-foot-six teenage girl. As average as they come, as far as I'm concerned. As much as I wish for those gorgeous pools of deep, ocean-blue eyes, or those exotic green or gray eyes, or even those unique hazel eyes that shift colour (mine used to, but now they are eternally brown, lightening only occasionally) this random comment from a random stranger hit home.
A large populus of the people in our world are average people with brown eyes. Comparable to poo, or dirt, or tree bark, brown eyes may not be from the most beautiful colour category in the world. But with us all being writers here, we can make every colour of eye sound beautiful. Brown can change with everyone, "... the warmest brown eyes I'd ever seen", "the deepest pools of brown eyes she'd ever lain eyes on, so mysterious yet amusing. Absolutely immersed in the intensity of them." Yes, I apologize for spelling mistakes and horrible lack-of writing. It's late, and my brain is low on functioning.
But this also makes me think back to a famil reunion. A relative couldn't remember who I was -- me, or my sister. We all look very alike, us women. So I told her my name and she says something along the lines of "Yes, I remember your eyes." I took that as a compliment.
The real point of this -- are brown eyes beautiful? Can brown eyes ever be beautiful? I sure think they are. Maybe it isn't the colour, but I like my eyes. They're my best feature. Maybe it's the shape of them or something. I'll have to be sure to show you some time.
What do you think? Are brown eyes beautiful, or not?
(sorry it's so long ... I got blabbing.)
