Parker.

"Show you what I've got?" Parker grinned. "Oh, lady, I have a lot." He nearly winked, but restrained when he remembered the crazy look in Kayla's eyes when she had held the knife to his throat. He rubbed his neck quickly with a wince. Sometimes it paid to be cautious - a lesson he'd never really been interested in.

A small noise brought his attention to a figured sitting at the side of the room. His eyes widened in surprise.

"Who's this?"

"Karine." Kayla said dismissively, Parker thought. Then again, Kayla was probably dismissive of everyone she met unless they were her Rouge. And he was dead anyway.

Parker exhaled loudly and squatted on the floor beside Karine.

"Pleased to meet you, Karine. Now -" he turned his body towards Kayla, "As you said, we need a plan. And if, as you say, there is someone who might not be faithful to the new - I mean, fake - Rouge, then perhaps we could give her a little push in the right direction."

"Go on." Kayla's face was impassive.

"Well, in all cases I'm an unknown commodity. So I could just stroll on over to the New Court and apply to be a jester or something along those lines. Get a little chummy with them and test the waters, see where the land lies. Reporting to you the entire time, of course." Parker's tone was joking, he wasn't expecting it to be that easy, but he genuinly thought it might be a good plan. If Kayla trusted him enough to go through with it.
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

-Spock.

"I'm going to kill you," I announced, glaring at Maria. "I can't believe you got us lost. How stupid can one person be?"

"You're the one who's lived in the city for years!" she shot back. "Why didn't you notice that we were taking a wrong turn?"

"Because I thought you knew the way!"

"Stop it, both of you," Krissy said, exasperated. It was just starting to get dark and we were in the middle of a deserted back country road, with no idea how to get back to the city. We hadn't passed anyone for at least half an hour, and there were no houses in sight, just endless fields and pastures.

The Traitor spoke up for the first time, worry in his voice. "I don't think we can make it back to the city tonight."

"We have to!" Daniel said. "There's no one watching the Court."

I ran my fingers through Jade's mane, looking around uneasily. "Maybe we should try to go back the way we came. We must have taken a wrong turn somewhere."

I was incredibly annoyed. First our search had turned up nothing, and now we were lost. And on top of that, Jas had the nerve to blame me for it?!

"Good idea. And if we can't find our way back, we can set up camp," I said, forcing my voice to remain calm and even. It was hard to get used to the fact that Jas wasn't the enemy anymore, especially when she talked to me like that.

**I know it's short, but I really don't want this to die.**
Just another quack spouting psychobabble.
