also any reviews on even this little bit would be awesome and much appreciated!Old: In a land far from Earth, five tribes each owned one out of six lands. The six lands of their kingdom, the ultimate sixth owned by a variety of persons, were connected together by Kenass Mountain.
To the north, a large bulky territory shaped like an apple that had been bitten into held various terrains; rings like those of a target were centred around the most significant city, Portall, that belonged to all other than the treacherous eastern tribe. This land was called The Wilderness: the sixth province, unconquerable, but with an ancient beauty that captured the minds of adventurers and bards.
To the north-east there was a dry state shaped like a lick of flame that was little more than one gigantic red desert, called Fire Territory. It was the smallest of the lands, owned by short tribesmen and women with olive skin and hair bleached golden-tan by the sun.
Next there was a circular land surrounded by volcanoes and mountains that because of this fact rarely saw the sun. This was the nation of the treacherous eastern tribe, the Dark Territory. People of that tribe dabbled in forbidden arts whose powers only the Goddess could contradict, but thankfully at a great cost are these abilities called upon.
To the south, and yet not precisely so, there was a thin land whose mass went out further than those of any of the other tribes’. It was a place loaded with crystalline Mineraltear and water in all its variety of forms that was called Water Territory. Here the people were expert guides and fishermen and they had extremely sought-after (however odd) accommodation; nevertheless, many Balemans couldn’t be bothered going to such a far-away place when crops and politics were to be tended.
In the south-west corner, there was a place shaped like a great hoof struck out into the ocean; but of course, as the whole country was raised hundreds of kilometres off sea level, the forest-covered crust of Wilds Territory with its famous jet cliffs would never touch the salt water that was unknown to this world. The people of this tribe were hunters and healers, trainers and breeders; they had remarkable souls that drew people and animals to them.
To the north-west there was a realm rich in metals and stones of all values, shapes and sizes that was shaped like a handful of clay tipped onto the ground, called Rock Territory; this place was owned by a tribe with feather-textured hair. It was very rare to find one of this tribe that was not decent and honourable.
All the people in their tribes were different, but they were not the only inhabitants of the land called Balema. They shared their land with objects of myth; elves, dwarves, the four-limbed wyverns, the fierce, wolf-like dackodas, soul-sucking charlies, the winged Oremi people and many more assortments of creatures.
This land was in the charge if what was considered the most beautiful and powerful goddess. She was not in her country, as she had been standing at the right-hand side of her father, the King God, Zeahous, ever since her younger brother had rebelled and was banished into the body of a human.
Her name was Encarata.
Life was going on as was usual in Balema. People at markets bustled, avoiding hakeen or horse-drawn carts and glaring at small pick-pocket boys that came near. In the Cadamatri Forests in Wilds Territory, hunters were being monitored by the macaw-like speckled hallows from above; should they forget to leave their customary offering to Now-or-Never, the Forest-god, the consequences would be severe.
People in Portall roughed their way through crowds to collapse into pubs, exhausted, having only just avoided dept collectors or doting sweethearts; in Water Territory, people at parties launched
New: “…there was a realm called Rock Territory. This place was owned by a tribe with feather-textured hair and tanned skin, people of the hammer and anvil. It was very rare to find one of this tribe that was not decent and honourable.” The man put his hands over his map, and with a brilliant flourish colour burst up to shape leaping mountains and valleys clogged with snow. Interested, a girl in the crowd paused to listen.
Aphrodite Wilds-Water looked back at the mortal she was leading and paused with her, pushing a lock of bright red hair behind one ear. Her emerald green eyes quickly took in the story teller and his company, and with a flick of the wrist the sword at her waist thumped back into place against her leg.
“I think we can let Andrew wait for an hour more,” she commented to Samantha Stizagailii. The girl laughed. Her smile bared teeth like a cat’s replacing the two sharpest on each row. Remembering this, she slammed her trap shut. Aphrodite tittered.
The two sat down in front of the man just as his hands formed the shape of a beautiful woman clad in a silver dress with fearsome dragon wings. Her lips were moving and her red eyes were amused.
“Ah, Aphrodite!” the man clapped his hands together and the image was dispersed into the air like a mass of disrupted smoke.
“Jeffery,” smiled the red head.
“I take it you’re here to hear one of my stories?”
Aphrodite inclined her head, obviously thinking. “Actually, Jeff, I came here so she could hear one.”
“Oh?” Jeffery took in the small twelve-year-old with a polite glance. Sam blushed and fingered her long, black hair, dark blue eyes looking sheepishly at the cobblestone pavement under her. “A mortal, I see.”
“Yes, so she’s never heard the Managka story.” Aphrodite replied pointedly.
Jeff’s mouth formed an ‘o’ shape and he nodded. “Okay, you lot, away you go!”
His crowd complained and lent back in disappointment, but they went quickly. When they were gone Jeff rubbed his hands together in relish and grinned. A gold tooth flashed.
“From the beginning?” Aphrodite asked.
“Of course,” he said. He took a deep, meditating breath and poised his hands over his map. “In a land far from Earth - your very own planet, Sam my dear – five tribes each owned one out of six lands. Now, this country was connected by and only connected by Kenass mountain.
“To the north, a large bulky territory belonged to all other than the treacherous eastern tribe. This land was called The Wilderness: the sixth province, unconquerable, but with an ancient beauty that captured the minds of adventurers and bards.” Jeff’s hands leaped suddenly upwards and a large land shaped like an apple that had been bitten into appeared from his map. Rings like those of a target were placed around a city that could be seen even on this miniature. Every ring held a different terrain, Sam saw; snow, desert, marsh, forest. Collective winds stirred the trees and moved massive dunes as Sam watched from above.
“To the north-east there was a dry state called Fire Territory. It was the smallest of the lands, owned by short tribesmen and women with olive skin and hair bleached golden-tan by the sun.”
This area was almost completely desert, and Sam shivered at the thought. It was just one red mass shaped like a lick of flame.
“Next there was a circular land surrounded by volcanoes and mountains that because of this fact rarely saw the sun. This was the nation of the treacherous eastern tribe, the Dark Territory. People of that tribe dabbled in forbidden arts whose powers only the Goddess could contradict, but thankfully at a great cost are these abilities called upon.” Again, the long fingers of the story teller were flicked and a land appeared. Sam lent back and a shiver went down her spine.
If you read all this, thank you so much! Opinions desperately needed!
