So, it's starting! More people can join for a while (obviously Ambie can. ) but remember to look at the other characters and keep a good balance between them.

Before you do anything, look back at the rules:
Spoiler
-All YWS rules apply.

-In addition, be respectful of other characters. I’ve seen a lot of people controlling other peoples’ characters recently, so please refrain from doing that excessively. (As in no making major decisions with a character that isn’t yours.)

-Please don’t double post or do post after post with another person. It’s annoying.

-I have no specific post length requirements, but no one-line posts!

Repeat them to yourself. Then put your hand on your heart and sing them backwards to the tune of 'Jingle Bells.'

Great. Now you're ready to go!

Dylan Hawkins.

Dylan sucked in a quick, deep breath. His eyes widened and focused in on the letter that lay in front of him. It looked incongruous at first, until you peered closer and could make out the straight, elegant handwriting that addressed it. No-one wrote like that in Garadeth; not anyone that Dylan knew, anyway. And, when he flipped it over Dylan knew that the letter would be sealed with red wax, and that the seal would have an image of a sun printed on it. The King's seal.

Letting out the breath in a low hiss, he picked up the letter. Another soldier sitting near him leant over at the noise.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Dylan just gestured to the letter. The soldier stared for a second, nonplussed, then grimaced, and reached over to pat him on the back. His eyes were as wide as Dylan's, and he looked scared.
"It's ok, Dylan. People survive it, you know. Don't worry."
"I - I'm not worried, Shaun," Dylan managed to choke out.
"Sorry, what?"
"Why would I be worried?" Dylan asked, a slow smile spreading over his face. "I signed up for it."
Shaun recoiled as though Dylan had said that he had a contagious disease.
"You - you signed up for it?" He looked around for a second, and then lowered his voice to a whisper. "Why, Dylan? Why in all of Garadeth would you do that?"
Dylan's smile dimmed slightly. "Because it's for the good of the King and of Garadeth. You should remember that, Shaun."

Shaun looked at him for a few moments, surprised. But there was an officer coming near, and he didn't dare to argue the case any further. Casting one last glance at Dylan, he stood up and walked over to another group of soldiers.

Dylan didn't even look up. He turned the letter over and over in his hands, reading the text written in an elegant hand.
Eleven o'clock tomorrow, he thought to himself.
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

-Spock.

Adrian stood on the dusty cellar floor, surrounded by his fellow orphans."Well, open it!" Said one, a little girl named Amy.
"it's from the king!" Shouted a boy named Shlade. But Adrian had a sick feeling in his stomach. He already knew this wasn't going to be an invitation to a ball. He tore open the seal, and began to read.
"What does it say, Adrian? We can't read." Said Amy. Adrian gulped.
"I've been asked to be in one of the king's experiments." He whispered.
"But why?" Asked several children, their faces dropping from exited to scared.
"The king is fair. He must have his own reasons." Adrian closed his eyes for a moment."I have until eleven tomorrow morn'. I best start my good-byes." He said.
Eleven o'clock. He had twenty-three hours to leave his life behind.

Ashton

Ashton was lying on his bed in the inn, arms folded behind his head. He stared up at the ceiling. Where to next? he mused.

He got off of the bed and went over to the backpack that hung on its little hook, pulling a rolled up map from it. He spread it out on the desk near the wall.

Golni... been there. Vlainier, done that...

He sighed. Looks like I'll have to go across the sea to find a place that I haven't been. Ashton hated boats. They made his legs feel like jelly and sent his stomach flipping like an acrobat just thinking about the things. He wasn't too fond of water either. He'd kept his distance since around the age of four, when he'd fallen down a well.

Then there was a knock at the door. He frowned and got to his feet, walking over to it and opening it.

The innkeeper's son was standing there. He was seven years old and a little chubby. He had brown hair and gray-blue eyes. "Papa told me to give this to you, sir." He handed Ashton a very nice envelope, with what was unmistakably the king's seal on it.

Ashton was surprised. "Thank you Aric." He tossed the child a coin, then closed the door in his face. He tore open the envelope and pulled the expensive cream-colored paper from it. His eyes skimmed over the words on the page.

Ashton smiled slightly. Well, looks like I won't have to go on a boat after all.
Just another quack spouting psychobabble.

Jaden

I knew what the letter would say before I opened it. I had watched others in the group go before me. But I never thought I would go as well. The tweleve guards around me flinched a little as I dug for my knife. They knew I was lethal with one, and without. the guards were to keep me from escaping, because I had escaped out of about every other thing they had put me in. I use the knife to open the letter, and read through it with a boerd expression. I toss it aside and go into my house to pack.

I toss a few dresses into a bag along with my knife, a jeweled dagger I used mostly just for show, and a vial of Deathly Nightshade, one of my trade-mark poisons. I realize I have almost none of the solid plant left, and grab a basket out of my kitchen to go grab some. Of course, the guards follow me. They haven't left me alone for a second. Even when I sleep, they watch me.

I find a small group of the purple leaves on the bark of a tree. I grab some with my open hand, something most people couldn't do without killing themselves, and puti t in the basket. I take a step foward, and the rest of the guards do the same. I turn around and fling my knife only a centimeter above ones head. He lets out a noise like a frightened mouse, and I go to retrive the knife from where it landed in a tree.

Eve Dubiel

I traced the embroidery on the cream and gold colored letter.
I knew what it was. It was my destiny. What I had waited all these years for.
This was my chance to destory the king, kill him and his lovers, just as he had killed my family. Both of my families.
Slowly, very slowly I untied the ribbon that enclosed the letter inside. I stared at the sheet of paper for a while, simply looking at the black colored handwriting, a smooth cursive.
It read:

Eve Dubiel,

Congratulations! You, dear reader, have been chosen specially to help the King. At 11 o’clock tomorrow morning, someone will be at your door to escort you to your destination. Please be prompt and ready on your escort’s arrival. Any absences will be noted.

Perfect. This was perfect. My plan was going accordingly to the plan.
Hello King. I'm Eve Dubiel. Your death.

Sage Kellum

I focused my anger on the hoe. Shoving it into the ground and wrenchting it upward, turning the soil over and over. It would probably be the last thing I would ever do.

"Sage! SAGE!" I heard a familiar voice call. I turned to see my sister, running toward me. "Sage theres a letter for you!"

I felt the blood rush from my face, and stuck the hoe in the ground, walking to meet her. She stopped in front of me, her face flushed. She seemed excited. If only she knew.

"Its from the government! I think they want you back!" She said.

I took it from her and sighed, opening it slowly.

I unfolded it and read.

To whom it may concern,

Congratulations! You, dear reader, have been chosen specially to help the King. At 11 o’clock tomorrow morning, someone will be at your door to escort you to your destination. Please be prompt and ready on your escort’s arrival. Any absences will be noted.

I swallowed. This is what I'd been waiting for ever since they kicked me out of the army...

I slowly sauntered back to my house, enjoying the fresh air while it lasted.

"Ah, hurry up." The brave soldier spoke to me again.

I turned to him, "I will take my own sweet time, if it pleases you, or if it doesn't, I couldn't care less. I am enjoying the sun while it shines still on my face."

"What if we made you hurry." He said, drawing his sword.

"Oh, but you wouldn't, my dear friend, for it would be very unwise of you to trifle with me." I said, displaying my knife. He swalowed again, this was almost too easy.

The next morning came quickly, too quickly. I was shaken awake by a guard, who i threw against the nearest wall. He left the room and I changed into a simple, but pretty, blue dress. I put my knife on a belt and attached it around my waist. I grabbed my bag and walked downstairs to the twleve guards. There was a knock on my door.

"I am here for the Ms. Jaden." He said. I opened the door, he fell to the ground where it hit him in the head.

"Oh, my, I am so sorry." I said. I noticed I wasn't his first stop. Another boy was there too. He laughed a little. I drop the bag on the man who I just knocked over.

"You can cary that for me." I said. The man groweled I went to join the boy who was laughing.

"I am Jade." I said, offering my hand.

"Sage," he said, shaking it.

Ack, whatever, I'm bored! But, yeah ... I don't know what I'm saying. I'll stop being controlling. *pats storybook*

Dylan Hawkins.

He fell asleep easily that night, for some reason. Before, Dylan had been keyed up; tense and excited. But at soon as his head had hit the pillow he'd fallen straight asleep.
But he hadn't slept so easily. His dreams had been plagued with green monsters, mutants, that stalked through his mind like restless predators. And every time he got close to them, they all had his eyes.

It was the morning now, and Dylan was sitting near his door waiting nervously for the knock. His fingers were tapping restlessly against the arm of his chair, and his other hand was clenched hard around the letter. He was trying not to think about the mutants in his dreams. Trying not to think about the dark green faces that had his eyes staring out of them with some kind of hungry intensity.

No, he tried to think about what would happen if (no, when) the experiment worked on him. On the glory, and what help he could give to the King and Garadeth. Yes, he thought, that's what will happen. It will work.

There was a knock at the door, and Dylan stood up slowly. He smiled widely and opened the door. A soldier stood outside it.

"Dylan Hawkins?"

"Yes."

Ashton

Ashton slept well, as he always did. He woke up early the next morning. He had his misgivings about this experiment thing, but it didn't look like he had a choice. Besides, he had nothing better to do with his time.

After a quick breakfast and cleaning himself off by way of dunking his head in a bucket of water, there was a knock at the door. He opened it and two guards stood there.

"We're here for Ashton Collins."

Ashton did an elaborate, exaggerated, and completely unnesecarry bow. "At your service."

Adrian didn't sleep at all. He spent most of the night writing. Notes to his friends, information about himself-- anything he thought people should know. He had a feeling this would be the last time he would see any of them. The King was a fair ruler. Fair. He thought to himself over and over again. And that was what he was thinking when the guards came to take him the next morning.

Sage Kellum

I spent the entire evening awake. Terrified out of my wits. I hadn't told Leeta what the letter really meant, an inncocent girl of 17 should never know what such a letter means. I didn't tell my mother either, she wouldn't be able to take it.

As the sun rose I reluctantly got up and wrote my mother a note, saying that the king had dicided to let me back and that she would reciving money for my efforts soon. I thought they payed their subjects families...

I waited outside until I saw two gaurds coming my way. I stood. "Sage Kellum?" One of them asked. I thought I reconginzed him. I shook my head disregarding that thought. I nodded. "Thats me." They led me away from what I thought would be the last time I would see my home.

I whisper to Sage, "You atempt to take the half on the left, I will get the six on the right."

He looks at me, confused. I say, "You kill the half on the left, I will kill the six on the right."

"Oh, we can't do that. I would love to, but it would be a suicide atempt." He said.

"True, but, alas, it would be fun to try." I say, not entirely aagreeing. We only each had SIX to fight. But then again, he didn't look like the type that could take on six soldiers and live.

"What do they got you for?" He asks.

"Multiple failed atempts at killing the king, and you?"

"Same, but I perobably got closer than you." He laughed. He underestimated me. Well, that was his loss.
