Anybody else watch the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver? Some bits of it were pretty cool (the whales being absolutely jaw-dropping). Other bits of it were kind of ridiculous (what was up with those people in white dancing the entire time during the parade of nations???). I greatly enjoyed it though! Nothing like China did in 2008, but I like what Canada did. They didn't try to top the Chinese but instead focused on making a truly unique experience. Could've done without the sappy songs, but it is Canada...
It was impressive. I enjoyed most of it, especially the part with the violin and tap dancing xD I thought it was pretty neat how they focused most of everything around the Natives. And yes, some of the songs were sappy, but what country doesn't have sappy music?
Go Canada! Woot!

I watched it. It was Awesome! I liked the show part where there was the fiddler in the canoe dueling with his shadow. I also liked how the Native Canadians got to be represented. The costumes they wore were beautiful.
Lol, at the part with the woods thing and the people just walking around in it, me and my dad couldn't tell if they were random people or not and when they started dancing the funniest conversation happened.
Me: Uhh Daddy I don't think those are random people. Dad: Yeah... unless you know people can just randomly start dancing all at the same time...in perfect syncronization. Me:...It happens in musicals.

Teacher: What do we, in the U.S enjoy from places like Mexico? Student: Wait, legally?
It was a pretty good ceremony. Shane Koyczan (the poet) was awesome, the whales were cool, but my favorite was the whole fiddle thing. That thing was wicked. All the crazy costumes, so much fiddling talent, and the tap dancing alongside? It really just shined brightest out of the whole show.
Although, I live in Vancouver, and I gotta tell you, if you were around the area of the stadium, you'd be lost amongst crowds and traffic, and be stuffed in some crappy seats. One of the people in my class went to the actual show, and she said it was better to look at the screens for a portion. The camera work was impressive enough that I was happier to be in a living room with legroom watching it all. Just thought I'd share my two cents on it.
Go Canada, and have a lucky day!
