Hope you guys like it,
Enjoy :D

Chapter 7

I signed the contract that was set in front of me. But as I came to put down the date, I noticed something I didn't like.

"You need parental permission" I whispered.

Peterson nodded. "You are a minor, after all."

"No can do. Is there any other way to do this?"

He shook his head. "Until you-"

"Wait a minute," Anthony suddenly piped up to my right "now that I think about it, I haven't seen your parents once since we've been here." He leaned sideways in his chair to look at me questionably. "Where are they Crys?"

Not good. I gulped. "They're working at the hospital."

He promptly moved his face closer to mine, mere inches separating us. I could feel his slow breathing against my skin , and see the crease lines on his forehead. He looked quite upset. "You're not telling me something."

I shrugged, trying to act indifferent. "They are the hospital's managers, so they work constantly. Plus it's in Quebec City, like a two and a half hour trip, so they don't have many chances to come home. I see them one week-end every two weeks."

He stood up in a heartbeat. He was pissed now. "They leave you alone for that long? Are they crazy?"

"It's fine" I lied.

"No it's not fine! What if-"

I raised my hand in a gesture to silence him. "Forget it, okay?" Oddly enough, he actually stopped talking. But the disapproval in his eyes compensated for his silence. It was somewhat discomforting.

I turned my attention back to Peterson. "I'll be eighteen next month. I don't know about other countries, but in Quebec you're considered an adult then."

He rubbed his chin lightly and nodded. "Then perhaps we have mistaken ourselves as per our meeting's date. Was it not the..." he thought about it for a moment "23rd of November? I do believe it was."

I smirked. Apparently no organization is without bribery. I signed the date as being the 23rd of November and stood up to hand the contract back to him. "Then I do believe we have ourselves an agreement."

He nodded. "Until then, we are unaware of each other's existence. Consequently, what you do with your own time, things such as training, are entirely up to you and therefore none of the Council's business." and with that, he stuffed the contract into his briefcase and left, Ben right behind him.

I turned to Anthony, who was still looking somewhat angry. We stared at each other, not saying a word. Then Ben came back, and I was glad to put my mind elsewhere.

"So what happens now?" I asked.

"We can start your training" he replied.

"When?"

He smiled. "Right now"

* * *

Five minutes later, we were set up in the "gym". When Nana had lived here, it had been her gathering room, since it was the largest room in the mansion. But they'd removed the beautiful decors and had racks, a climbing wall, a small armoury and targets installed on the walls all around the room. Also, they'd put a few training utilities in a corner. I had no doubt in my mind that even the small closet near the machinery was packed with mats, balls and more stuff like that. For someone who didn't know their profession, they'd think the guys were just athletic people. Good cover.

"So what now?" I insisted again. "Do I shoot explosives out of my hands? Can I breathe fire?" I laughed wickedly "Or maybe-"

I noticed it just as it was about to strike me. I moved quickly to the left, narrowly dodging the knife that would've embedded itself in my right shoulder. At the thud sound, I turned to see the knife had lodged into the red and white target hung on the wall directly behind me. Need I say, I wasn't a happy camper.

"WHAT WAS THAT!?" I shouted.

"What do you mean?" he asked all surprised, as though he didn't even know why I'd be angry. "I was aiming for the target; you were in my way."

Do not kill. Resist urge to kill. "Then you tell me to move!" I enunciated strongly each word, "I could've been hurt!"

He walked casually to retrieve his knife and came back in front of me. "Why would I do that? You have to learn to develop your reflexes. Not to mention your agility, strength, concentration, powers and your instincts. You were lucky right now...you reacted way too slowly. If I'd thrown properly, you'd have been hit."

I gaped at him. He hadn't even thrown his best? Memo to me, don't stay near him when close to potential weapons. It must've been a real joke for him then, my reaction. That got me mad again. "You could've at least warned me!"

"Why? Demons aren't going to. Even people do unexpected things. They aren't going to give you a heads up."

He had a point; I couldn't argue with th-

Slap. Pain stabbed at my left cheek and I immediately lifted a hand to it. I looked at Ben in shock, not even able to utter an "ouch". He'd hit me, actually hit me! I was hating this guy more by the second.

"What was that f-" Slap. This time I yelped in surprise. He'd smacked the other cheek. Tears of pain gathered in my eyes, but I shook them away, as it was so not the time to cry... Anger. Yes, being angry would do.

"What is your problem? I'm a girl, you know!"

"Ah ha! That's exactly the problem. You think they're going to give you a break just because you're a girl? Well think again, 'cause nobody will. I don't know how the hell you ended up a Shifter, but you will not shame us by being a pussy... Yeah, you heard me!" he bent himself to my eye level. "I hit you. So what? You don't stay put, you don't call for your mama and you most certainly don't cry! You get even!"

As he finished his last word, I slapped him. As hard as I could. It was a very satisfying feeling. Especially when I could see the red splotch getting more pronounced. I smirked proudly when he looked at me in disbelief, his almond shaped eyes now very round. Guess he wasn't expecting that one.

But he quickly recovered, his face becoming a look of amusement. "Not bad...not bad at all" he twirled the small pocket knife in his hand, before thrusting it towards me. I took it rapidly, except that I ended up dropping it clumsily. "Oops"

He sighed, passing a hand on his face. "We have a lot of work to do"

I just logged on and was lucky enough to spot your post. :)
I really liked it. I didn't find anything wrong with it, but that's just me. I'm not really good at reviewing yet soo... yeah. But I think you could have put a little bit more emotion and description when she hit Ben back.

Anyways, keep it up!!!

Hey little sister ! :D

"What do you mean?" he asked all surprised, as though he didn't even know why I'd be angry. "I was aiming for the target; you were in my way."
Ok, I was confused here because you didn't mention who 'he' was until later on. I thought it was Anthony. So where IS Anthony? Maybe she could wonder that too...

Now I'm really glad to know about the parents...BUT the hospital managers? Who are never home except every second weekend? Nah, the hospital will run without managers. I think maybe they should be doctors or nurse because especially in this economy, the patients and hospitals need all the nurses and doctors they could get. Hey, it might even work further on with your story to have Crys patched up by her parents...Anyway, just a thought.

I really liked this chapter, I liked it even better than the last. I personally want to go and punch Ben, could you introduce us? LOL Great work with this one,

I love you

Actually they are doctors, I mentionned it in another chapter, I just forgot to say that they were the head doctors also, instead of just managers  Oops

But thanks for the reviews, guys!

Hey here I am for a review!

I have to say, this has been my favorite chapter so far! I loved the characters' interaction, and the whole training scene. I can't wait to see what else you have her go through. :D

Not a lot of nitpicks here...just a couple of things.

WritingSpitfire wrote:But as I came to put down the date, I noticed something I didn't like.

"Came" doesn't sound right. It makes me think she's actually moving, you know? Maybe you could reword it to "But as I reached the spot where the date went, I noticed something..."

I shrugged, trying to act indifferent. "They are the hospital's managers, so they work constantly.

Sounds too formal, especially for her personality.

I noticed it just as it was about to strike me. I moved quickly to the left, narrowly dodging the knife that would've embedded itself in my right shoulder. This was my favorite part! I looove it!

I took it rapidly, except that I ended up dropping it clumsily. "Oops"

He sighed, passing a hand on his face. "We have a lot of work to do"

Second favorite part. :D

Well done! Can't wait for the next chapter! :D

Go ahead and introduce me to Ben as well, I'd like to give him a nice punch to the face. Hah. I do really like though that they aren't treating her differently because she is a girl. It gives room for a lot of interesting story with her adjusting to her abilities and training and such.

The parents seem a little farfetched to me. Even if their job DID keep them that busy (which I feel like it wouldn't, if they work at a major hospital then there would certianly be plenty of other doctors. Maybe they work at a small clinic in a high-danger area? Few doctors, many patients?) I don't see them leaving their 17 yr. old daughter home alone for two weeks at a time. I don't care how trustworthy she is, or how awesome her parents are, it just doesn't make sense. She would likely live with someone, or her parents would move her to where they are. So just think about this a bit. I'm sure you can come up with some sort of realistic solution to keep her parents away. Maybe she had a housekeeper living with her or something? *shrugs* just an idea.

That's about all I have to say, except...where DID Anthony disappear to? I miss him :P

Great job! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Thanks for the reviews! There will be more action from now on, so I hope you'll like it!

PS: There's a reason for her parents, it'll come later...
