"Andrew get up!" Elle grabbed his arm to help pull him up.
"What in the world is going on Elle!" Andrew stood to his feet looking around at the chaos brewing.
"We talk and run!" She grabbed his hand again, leading him through the school halls. As they passes through the narrow halls, running in-between other students, tiles fell off the white walls. As he passes Andrew could see explosions destroying classrooms, and people, students and teachers alike. It was a horrible site to behold.
Andrew gently pulled his arm out of Elle's hand, who dismissed the fact and continued to run through the halls.
"Elle what is happening!" Andrew was becoming annoyed.
"We don't know what is going on." She stopped and faced him, brushing her long blond hair out of her eyes. "We were in class when all these explosions started going on, we didn't know where they were coming from. One hit next to the classroom window and you got knocked out of your seat. A few us managed to drag you into the hall but they ended up just running."
Another nearby classroom exploded into a fiery rage, flames erupted from the door nearly missing Elle, who was pushed out of the way by Andrew.
"Are you okay!" Andrew helped up the slightly dizzy Elle, and motioned her to walk forward.
"Look, we can talk later cause right now we need to get out of here." Explosions around them made it hard to hear, and
forced loud conversation between the two. The halls were empty and Elle and Andrew were left standing in the middle them, contemplating they're next move.
"I say we try to find a more stable location then this ratty old school. Half of it's already falling apart and it won't be long until it's completely collapsed." Their talking was finished, the building was falling down around them and they were running for their lives. As they reached the front doors of the school they opened them with excitement, to finally be out of the danger zone for the moment.
Elle continued down the steps, as Andrew looked back down the school hallway through the glass front doors. Elle walked up to Andrew, tapping his shoulder.
"Andrew look." She pointed at the horizon while he turned around and he was in horror at what he saw. Buildings were on fire, whole neighbors hoods doused in flames. People could be heard screaming from miles away, cars were abandoned and bodies were scattered under wreckage and on the streets. Bombs continued to fall from the sky, out of nowhere. Oxford was done for.
"We-we need to go Andrew right now." A bomb landed on the statue of their school mascot to the left of where they were standing. Andrew guarded Elle with his body, protecting her from flying debris. He slowly unwrapped his arms from around Elle, showing her unharmed.
"Andrew thank you."
"It's no big deal now let's get going."
"Right, were too?"
"I think our best bet it to head out of town, instead of just finding shelter in town."
"What is this bombing is going outside of town too?"
"It's a chance we just have to take. My car is parked just right over here." Elle followed Andrew to his car, which was unharmed
by the bombing. As they got into the car, everything became quiet. They looked around. No more bombs. The silence was frighting, it wasn't a peaceful calm. The eerie sound of police sirens could be heard across the area.
"It is over?" Elle said aloud.
"I don't know." Andrew looked straight forward toward the City Hall. It seemed many people had gathered there. He nudged Elle who was also looking. A small object suddenly appeared in the sky, heading straight for the crowd at the City Hall stairs.
"Andrew, go now we have to get out of the city!" Elle said with a firm tone. Andrew put the car in reverse and pulled out of the school parking lot at full speed, not looking back to see the carnage that was yet to come. He speed toward the nearest bridge leading out of the city.
A white flash signalled the bomb had hit it's target. Elle turned around in her seat only to see a large orb of white beginning to grow from the point of impact. It was completely quiet, a strange sort of silent noise covered the sound of the car's engine. Elle covered her ears and sat down in her seat, putting her head in-between her legs. Andrew flinched but kept his eyes on the road.
He could see it, the south bridge heading out of the city. As his tires touched the start of the bridge, the noise disappeared. Elle sat up in her seat and took her hands off her ears.
"What in the world was that?" She didn't want to look back to see what used to be Oxford. Andrew stopped at the other side of the bridge.
"What should we do now." He said relaxing in his seat.
"I don't know..." Elle crossed her arms.
"We should probably just stay here for now." Andrew looked back at Oxford. All he saw was desert. He was in shock and could move his body. The whole city was just gone. A bridge leading nowhere, and it seemed as if only they survived it.
"Elle we need to stay here tonight."
"What are you crazy?" She almost hit the roof of the car with shock.
"I think we should stay here tonight."
"Why on earth would we do that? We need to go Rossford or Dallas. Stay here and we'll starve and die."
"I know Elle, I understand what you mean but there is something telling me that we need to stay here. Do you trust me?"
"I do Andrew, you're my best friend but this is crazy. We have to go."
"You can have the car, go to Rossford, It's closer.
"I want you to come with me." Elle gave Andrew a sincere look to which he replied with a demanding one.
"I have to stay here Elle, please just don't argue with me."
"All right. I'll do it but only because I trust you." Andrew exited the car and Elle soon after. They walked around to the hood of the car, and with open arms hugged each other. Andrew handed her the keys, and walked out of the way of the car.
"Be careful." Those were her departing words. The last time they would speak for a long time. Andrew walked under the bridge to use it as protection from the night.
"Huh? Someone was here before me." He looked around, to see a unlit fire and two water bottles lying near it. "Must have been some hobo's or something." He sat down near the fire and began trying to light it with some sticks and grass he picked from the ground. Once it had been lit he laid down in the dirt, looking up at the under part of the bridge.
He saw something, a symbol of some sort. It was red and large enough to make out from this distance. A circle, with 5 stars inside of it surrounding the inside. Another circle connected to the stars in the center, and 5 lines going from each point on the star to the center. He had never seen anything like it. For some reason, he took his phone out and took a picture of it. It was interesting to say the least.
His night under the bridge was a lonely one. He was bored, cold, and wished that someone was here with him. Thirsty and hungry, his only hope was for Elle to return soon. Andrew's dreams that night were nightmares. He kept replaying the bomb that hit the city, the images of dead bodies of teachers, students, his friends. He cried himself to sleep that night.
It wasn't getting any easier from now on.

So, another thing I wanted to suggest is a program called yWriter.
I've been using it and it's amazing. You can add chapters, scenes, characters,
goals, bio's for characters, important items and locations, pictures, and so much more.
It's necessary for anyone who is planning to publish a book. It's freakishly organized and
some of my favorites things are, copy/pasting to YWS isn't skewered and separated weird, also there is no spell check, simply tells you if something is spelled wrong with no corrections(unless a dictionary is installed to it). This helps you with your spelling skill by having to guess at it till you get it right. It's something I think you should definitely look up. Ask for more questions if you like(pm please).
Thanks for your review.

I was reading this and wondering why none of these characters' names were ringing any bells, and then I suddenly realized that this is not the story you've been posting about the police officer. D'oy.
