(Those of you who have read the books, this should sound familiar.)
You're dead. The last thing you remember was your school bus careening off the side of that cliff after the brakes locked and the the 18-wheeler collided with it. You remember how it felt to fly into the glass windows and you remember the screams of your classmates. And then that black tunnel with the light at the end... what happened? Someone tugged your shoulder telling you to wait up...or the body of a classmate forced you out of the tunnel...all you know is that you missed the door to the afterlife and now you're stuck in between the living world and the afterworld. The seasoned denizens like to call this place Everlost.
You wake up to find 7 other people wandering around a dark forest, all from the schoolbus that crashed. Nobody knows where you are or what's going on. Only a strange girl with strange mannerisms and strange ways who appeared out of the forest seems to know anything. She calls herself Leaf because she has forgotten her real name. She tells you you're stuck here for all eternity.
Everlost is a beautiful, dangerous world. You're dead and can't feel pain, but there are monsters out there who know worse punishments than death. Your worst enemy might be time though. In Everlost, you tend to forget things over time. Things like who you are, what you looked like, memories. If you forget who you are, all is lost.
The normal rules apply to this storybook.
The goal is to find a way out of Everlost.
Your guide is my character, Leaf, who's mysterious and vague, but maybe because she's already losing herself.
Here's the Character Stencil, with my character.
Name: Leaf (Your characters will remember their real name, but might resort to a nickname later on.)
Age: 14 (Kids older than this are rare and almost nonexistant. older people tend to be able to keep on the road to the Afterlife. So 14 or younger please, but not baby young.)
Gender: Female
Appearance: (You wear the clothes you die in.) She died in her Sunday best, poofy white dress and a long white hair ribbon with black boots. She's dressed like someone from the 19th century. (That's because she is.) She is regular sized with pale pale skin, dark blue eyes and sharp features. Her hair is entirely made up of ivy leaves because when she died she had leaves in her hair. That's one thing she can remember vividly so the leaves will thrive.
Personality: She is very wary, but in want of company. She hasn't strayed far out of her forest because she's afraid of the monsters who could be out there. She is soft spoken but makes herself heard and seems to know more than she lets on. She is quiet and seems deep in thought a lot.
History: (She can't remember much. Include things your character died with.) Leaf died with a locket with her picture in it and a lock of her hair. The pictures the only way she can remember what she looks like.
Other: Up for love.
So make your character with this stencil. 8 characters plus Leaf. One character per person.
Here's some notes of Everlost:
- No adults because they seem to know where they're going.
- Everlost contains items which people held dear to their heart. When the items were destroyed, their essence stayed in Everlost. Things like Buildings, instruments, books...etc.
- The living world can be entered but appears like it's immersed in a heavy fog. Stick with the Everlost buildings and grounds, you see them clearly.
- Don't stay too long in one place, your a ghost and you go through things that aren't in the everlost. That includes the ground.
- There are no everlost animals.
- If you remember something about yourself very vividly they seem to epitomise here in everworld. Say remember what beautiful long hair you had when you were alive, in everlost your hair will grow very long a very beautiful.
